BMW 328 owners have reported 3 problems related to brake sensor (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was slowing down to approach and stop at a red light on a street (not highway) and my car wasn't braking. It then stopped. After it braked and I was sitting at the red light with my foot on the brake fully stopped and stationary for approximately 10-20 seconds my car accelerated without warning and hit the back of the car ahead of me. The impact caused a tiny scratch on the drivers bumper from my license plate. His car was old and his bumper already damaged, so he wasn't too concerned about the scratch. We pulled off to a nearby parking lot and he checked under his car and under my car to make sure there was no damage other than the small scratch and we parted ways. I called the my BMW service center first thing the next morning and brought my car in. Two months prior to this incident, my car stopped without warning on a street with no traffic when I was traveling at approximately 20-30 miles per hour. I assumed that something set off one of the sensors, but this is not a street where people or animals would be crossing and no one was in the street. Their corporate headquarters in NJ sent in a field representative and inspected the car. An executive customer care representative from BMW's NJ corporate headquarters got back to me yesterday reporting that they could not find any issues with the car and I can pick it up at anytime. They could offer me no explanation for this occurrence and I am terrified to get back in this car. I am estimating the mileage on my car as 25,000 miles as my car is still at the BMW service center and not in my possession to check the exact mileage.

The contact owned a 2013 BMW 328i. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own to 40-50 mph. All the warning indicator sensors blinked on and off. The contact depressed the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed and locked up. In addition, the steering failed. The vehicle drove over the sidewalk and the seat belt released automatically. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The struck her head on the steering wheel and injured her neck and lower back. Medical attention was received. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was deemed destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While I was exiting my driveway at my residence the vehicle's braking system did not engage. There was snow on the ground so I eased the vehicle onto the pavement on the main street, good thing no cars were coming. I then headed south on n broadway and the warning appears that the brakes have malfunctioned please drive moderately. After about 10 seconds the warning went away brakes came back. Now I just had the rear brakes replaced about a year ago and BMW also replaced the front. Now the service indicator is on again to replace the rear brakes again, after less than 10,000 miles. My car is mostly driven on the weekends and it is mostly highway driving. I also take outstanding care of my car because it looks better than the day I picked it up. (I detail and make wax etc). Besides that, these are the other failures on the car: fuel injectors, 15,600 mi (stranded), rattle steering wheel and drivers door. Drivers side door rattle is back. Drivers side mirror, replaced and starting to malfunction again. Drivers side seat leather cover damaged and replaced. Door jam area damaged and the service department said nothing. I had to e-mail them. They said it could't be helped. I know better, they fixed all the damaged they caused. Horns, replaced, oil level sensor not operating properly, repaired. The fuel injector breakdown occurred the day after I picked it up from the dealership horns rattle etc. I have less than 25,000 mi and the car is 2 years an 5 months old. I transport my 12 year old son on the weekends and sometimes during the week. I do not feel safe in this car any more. Called BMW n. A. And they send me a portrait of the 3 series prototype. 9 years in the marine corps as a sgt and over 30 years in law enforcement I have not scene this in competence in my entire life, if they cannot fix this vehicle its time for my attorney to step in.
