BMW 328 owners have reported 11 problems related to brakes failed (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The symptoms are the same as those referenced in recall #13v454000& 14v627000 the braking power is lost unexpectedly resulting in increased vehicle stopping distance or no brakes as well when the pedal goes all the way to the floor. This has occurred on both local and highway driving especially when the pavement is wet. . This condition first happened in oct of 2019 & continues today. I am an rn on the front line treating patients in the icu who have contracted the coronavirus(covid-19)and I can't afford to be accident from work due to an accident. I have had several instances where the brakes have failed. BMW stated my car is not on the recall list and refuses to repair it under the recall. Please advise what further action I can take as this is my only means of transportation.

My 2014 surged automatically in a parking lot and the brakes failed repeatedly: it took me over the 4" cement parking lot stopper and into a wall! this was the only way the vehicle would stop! iwill say that just before I had backed out very slowly as I was in a parking lot. I hit somethig, put my foot on the brake, then put car in drive to pull a few feet back into the parking spot. I used very little gas, not necessary of course. BMW engineers examined it and found no error according to their three standard tests. I was told that their tests "may not record something," "could not duplicate my concerns," and that it would take "a more severe impact to record something. " nothing could be tested or recorded for speeds under 35 miles per hour. I got a concussion and the incident cost $ 17,000 (plus loss of car value). BMW did nothing for me so I am out of a BMW for good. I had just put the car in drive to pull back into the parking space I was in. In all fairness I did hit something, stopped, foot on brake put it in drive. There is no way it outght to have surged out of control or failed to stop. I was going less than 5 mph. BMW will do nothing for me except give me a courtesy discount on a different BMW once I've purchased it. Their dealers have offered me less than competitors. I won't buy another one. ## VIN passed ## BMW 328i2014 ##.
We were driving down a 35 mph rd. . I slowly began to brake as we were approaching a stop light when the brakes did not hold, I hit the brake harder, the car began to buck forward, I hit the brake as hard as possible but the brakes failed to hold and only stopped when it hit the car in front of us. The police came and an accident report was made. I described the brake failure to the officer but they only seemed interested in writing up the accident report. We had the car towed to our body shop as we were afraid to drive in case the brakes failed again. Our insurance company was made aware of the accident and brake failure and a task force is looking into it. When we returned home we looked up the possible problem with brakes failing on the year and model of my car. We immediate found three articles listing my exact car having "restricted oil supply from the intake camshaft to the brake vacuum pump, which may cause the brake vacuum pump to fail, resulting in a loss of power brake assist. " it also said in the article, bimmerfest, that BMW notified NHTSA of its intention to voluntarily recall more than 75,000 3 series cars due to a possible loss of power brake assist that could result in the vehicles failing to stop. A mandatory recall was never issued and so this problem still exists. This is exactly what occurred when trying to stop our car. We have reported the problem to our insurance CO and BMW corporate. We are awaiting an answer and solution regarding our brake issue and hope BMW will finally realize there is a major problem and will address it properly. As of now I will not drive my 2014 328i xdrive sedan until I am comfortable that BMW corrects the issue to my satisfaction and safety.
While driving the vehicle which was in motion, a new 2016 BMW 328 gt, the brakes completely failed, car could not be stopped, emergency brake pulled with full pressure on brake pedal, car eventually slowed and stopped before striking other vehicles in its path. Car returned to BMW and BMW stated that brakes now work. BMW refused to provide further assessment or service despite being aware of recent prior vehicles for BMW brake failure.

This is a brand new vehicle lease BMW 2015 328xi , for my wife - we just picked it up on 10/31/14, the brakes failed to respond!!!!!!! my wife was driving with my daughter and the car would not stop with her firmly pressing on the brakes approaching a busy intersection!!!! she finally got it to stop after shifting it into park. Extremely dangerous!!! they should replace this new vehicle for us immediately with another one of equal or higher value that we can hopefully trust assembled properly in germany. This BMW dealer never told us he was getting us one from south africa. Now, BMW of can't figure out what the problem is!! the vehicle must have reliable brakes. All the dealer has to say so far is he can't find the problem and is calling the main office to have someone take a look. We don't want to become a statistic because they are too incompetent to find the problem. Please recall it and protect us so we can get another car!!!! I expect BMW and the ntsa to address this urgent very serious matter immediately. Thank you. It will not be acceptable for them to return this death trap vehicle to us after some guy at the dealership or visiting the dealer from the main office says he can't find anything in such a highly complex vehicle. If the issue is not completely found and remedied the vehicle will have to be replaced. We only had it for a week and only got to drive it in the area a few times until this. It's been back at BMW dealer since Saturday 11/8/14. They picked it up on a flatbed truck. The ntsa should recall it for brake failure!!!!!!!!!!! after looking up BMW brake failure I now see reports from you on the recall of 2012-2014 BMW's for break failure!!!!!! the problem seems to be continuing in 2015 and they are not admitting it!!!!.

On Aug, 7th I was involved in a minor accident on the expressway. The 1st vehicle applied their brakes to avoid another 2 car accident, I applied my brakes as well however I was unable to slow down in time to avoid the 1st vehicle and I rear ended the vehicle. Both vehicles had slight damaged to their bumpers. No injuries were reported. During the time of me applying my brakes I had enough time and distance to make a judgment call to a. Hit the call in front of me or b. Hit the concrete wall medium, while at the same time saying ¿wow I am really about to hit this car. I wrestled with the thought of my brakes malfunctioned that day. Taking everything into account on a brand new car the brakes failed. When I applied my brakes it seems like I glided into the other car also I had my lunch bag and purse in the front seat. None of the items in the front seat went flying to the floor. They were still in tack in the front seat when I pulled over. Finally this is my 2nd BMW (1st purchase in 2009) I know how they drive and handled if the car was operating correctly I would have stop with no problem. I have reached out to BMW north american to inquire about recalls and report the problem on 8/25/2014 however I have not heard nor been able to get in contact with my case manager to date.
The contact owns a 2013 BMW 328li. The contact was approaching an intersection at 15 mph when the e brakes failed. The contact subsequently crashed into the rear of another vehicle. There were no injuries. The police were notified and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection but the contact was not informed of any diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

I purchased a new 2013 BMW 328i in late may. Within a week of ownership the brakes failed. The car was towed to the dealership and was there for three days. Then less than a month later, last week, the brakes failed again. I almost got in a bad accident and in fact did scrape the curb. I was told the original problem was a vacuum pump, similar to other reports on this site related to that model of car.
Bought a new BMW xi 328 on April 30. On June 16, with 1700 miles on car brakes failed. While slowing for a traffic light the brakes seemed to engage but failed to stop the car--like they were working but didn't. Car went through a light and I quickly hit park to stop it in the intersection. Once no cars were around I pulled to the side and tested them. They stopped on a few tests so thought it was me. And as I drove, slowly, the brakes stopped several more times, and then they failed again and I averted hitting another car by pressing park button again. I had the car towed to BMW and they determined it was the vacuum pump and other brake issues. No warning light went on the dash to alert me. They said there was a service alert on this issue by BMW. BMW said parts not available for several weeks and two days later offered to exchange the vehicle for a new one. Brakes seemed "spongy" from the start but had always worked until they didn't. Fortunately no one was hurt. I took them up on their offer and new (exhchanged) car brakes feel ok. I didn't report because NHTSA rep told me not necessary because BMW was doing the right thing. But read in la times that this is a bigger issue and wanted to go on record that there was a problem. BMW did the right thing but worry that this issue could crop up with others, and even in my new car.
After purchasing this car new, the power brakes completely failed on may 23. I had the car towed to BMW where they replaced the brake's vacuum pump. The car was returned to me where the problem happened again, the day it was returned, exactly the same way as before. When you push on the brake, the peddle is really hard and barely responds. It is very difficult to stop the car.
The brakes failed on the vehicle.
