Exterior Lighting Problems of BMW 328 - part 2

I was driving on an empty road when the car shut off completely, the cabin lost all power and the car went on black out mode. I began to press the brake but it was rough and unresponsive, I pulled the emergency brake to continue to stop slowly, once on the side of the road, I began to examine the vehicle, opened the battery compartment in the trunk of the vehicle and seemed to be fine, I popped the hood open, examined a little bit more for fluids or signs of over heating and was unsuccesful, called a tow truck, the driver tested the battery and said tbe battery was not taking the charge, so he towed me home, the next day I took the battery to the place I purchased it from since it was still under warranty, this battery had a 2 year warranty and was used for 8 months. I installed the battery and the power in the cabin and dash was reestablished, a warning light came on the dash shortly after I try to start the car and a clicking noise from where the fuse box is located, on the passenger side began. I pulled the key out, attempted to start the car again and an icon of a steering wheel and locked popped up, all in red. I ceased to attempt to start the car, I researched the following day and it seems like it had to be taken to the BMW dealer, on Tuesday 4/22 the car was towed to the dealer, I was informed the battery was dead once again and that the issue was the steering column mechanism which was locked, they wanted to charge $1200 to perform the labor, apparently they reseted the code and the car was turned on, once I realized tbe car was drivable and that there is no special coding to perform the job, I asked for the car to be released after paying $160. The vehicle has an electrical issue that causes the battery to put out higher voltage than the car needs and therefore causes the battery to malfunction.

My vehicle is equipped with halogen headlamps and halogen drl. The car has poor road visibility at night due to the design of the headlamps. I brought the car into BMW while it was under warranty for uneven brightness in the headlamps. The techs just adjusted the headlamps, but this had no effect on the visibility. During my next warranty visit, I brought up the headlamp issue again and the service advisor said that that when the car hits bumps the headlamps go out of alignment. The headlamps were then again readjusted. This still didn't improve the headlamp situation. Just recently I saw on fox five news that my model vehicle had the worst rating for headlamp quality. Fox five news stated that owners of my vehicle should use high beams when they can't see well at night. I live in the city and I can't drive with high beams on all the time. This is unacceptable for a luxury car brand. This is a dangerous safety issue affecting many other similar models out there. BMW should rectify this problem for all these models.

Both rear light housings have melted from some sort of short or grounding issue.

I took my car into eastbay BMW for a lightbulb change (a tail/brakelight) and the technician noticed the housing of the taillight is melting on both sides, not just the one that needed a light bulb change. He mentioned it was part of a recall and then the representative said, that my car wasn't included in the recall. BMW has stated that it probably isn't the light bulb and that even though this isn't something that I have caused, that they are not responsible. They agreed that this is a faulty part, but is not covered under any recall or warranty. BMW offered to pay half the repairs which my responsibility is $475, which seems like they are admitting some fault in the matter. I have called BMW customer relations and the representative jackie said she isn't willing to escalate the issue because she knows it won't go anywhere. In addition, I did some research and there were over 241,000 BMW's recalled for this same reason that the cars were older than mine and out of warranty. Since this is occurring on both sides and not just one, it seems that part, the electrical receptical is producing too much heat on both sides and therefore melting the taillight which is a major safety issue and should be considered part of another recall & therefore fixed at no cost to the consumer. The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328i. The contact was driving 40 mph when the power steering suddenly malfunctioned and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the battery wires were damaged. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number 13v044000 (electrical system) however, the contact had never received notification of the recall. Additionally, the driver¿s side halo light would not illuminate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 56,000.

The contact owns a 2010 BMW 328i. The contact stated the the tail-lights failed. The contact stated that the taillight harness was defective. The contact stated that the previous owner replaced the taillight harness but the repair did not remedy the issue. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test or repairs. The failure mileage was 34,000.

My 2007 BMW 328xi completely powered down while I was driving. I was forced to "coast" into a side lane on a busy road during the first occurrence. Since this first incident my car has been having this same exact issue - recently, much more frequently. I feel as if this is an incredibly dangerous issue since this has happened while I have been driving on incredibly busy streets and I could have easily gotten into some form of an accident.

Vehicle was delivered on 2/3/2011 and has experienced ongoing & unresolved electrical shorts, battery discharge, failures to start, erroneous door ajar messages, service engine soon & electrical malfunction messages leaving passengers stranded. Vehicle towed to dealership(s) 2 times. Dates/mileage of failure(s): 19feb2011 / 377 miles, 18apr2011 / 2,336, 01jun2011 / 3,816, 12 Aug 2011 / 4,690, 24oct2011 / 6,867, 21oct2011 / 6,943. Formal notices served to braman BMW / miami, south motors / miami & BMW corporate / NJ to repair or replace vehicle have gone unanswered. Pending lemon law / legal action currently pending.

Recall campaign lamps in rear quarter panel. Lights on all the time. Took into BMW passport to fix. They charged me 277. 75 to fix and now with a recall on the same issue they are not reimbursing me. I have receipts of repair, also recall notice and date I took in, their own receipt shows no fixing as taken care of earlier when they charged me $277. 75. Help!.

Through out the past month I have had my car towed three times with five occurances of the care not cranking and the electrical system shutting down leaving me stranded. Over the past year the airbag light has come on at least once a month for less than 5-10 minutes at the time. The first instance it was towed BMW of mobile replaced the battery after several days of trouble shooting even though I had had our local police department check the battery to be sure that that was not the issue. They charged me over five hundred dollars for this battery. Two days after the battery was replaced I had it towed again to BMW of mobile because the car would not crank again and the lights etc. Would come on. They kept the car for over 5 days running test then stated that "nothing was wrong. " I told them that I would not have had it towed if nothing was wrong. Two days later it would not crank again when my 3 year old daughter and I were at a late local highschool football game. This time they said that it was an electrical wire on the passenger side causing the problem causing something to melt near the fuse panel($1,200) to replace).
