While operating a normal speed and tempature, the low pressure fuel retuen lone burst. Fuel sprayed throughout the engine bay to include the exhaust manifold. Had this been a gasoline car a fire could have ensued.

I was driving to work when my engine started sputtering acting like it was about to turn off. I quickly pulled off to the side of the road and as soon as I did, the engine stalled and turned off. I'm lucky that I pulled off the road because if it turned off while on the road I could have caused an accident. The car is no longer able to turn on. I had to get it towed to my work where I had a mechanic look at it. They said they believe the high-pressure fuel pump failed. I researched this online and saw that there is an open NHTSA campaign for it (#21v586000). My car is a 2014 BMW 328d with the n47 engine. It seems that my car would fall under this recall but when I put in my VIN it says it does not have a match for it. How is it possible for my vehicle to be accepted into this recall.
A remedy still has not been offered for the coolant pump.
Car just shut off when driving at 65mph and never started back up, took it in and repair was a bad fuel pump and fuel rail line causing metal shards to go through fuel tank and injectors.

Faulty fuel injectors , that are known to prematurely fail. The same injectors are covered by BMW for model years 2015-2018 under NHTSA sib 01 09 19. My complaint is my 2014 has the same fuel injectors as the 2015-2018 that are known to be faulty and yet it is deliberately excluded from the same “limited warranty extension “.
The high pressure fuel pump failed I see there are recalls for 2014-2018 similar BMW with diesel engine and mine is not included with recall although it clearly has the faulty part. The car will no longer start and I am being quoted $18,000 to repair it which makes the car useless I just got it for $10,000.

Engine coolant pump recall (August 2024) with no remedy to this day. Has caused major smoking issues from exhaust and engine. The turbocharger has been affected and deemed inoperable. Fluid leaks from chassis and engine bay. The car is inoperable. Prior to being unable to drive I was experiencing transmission issues, went for a few repairs but would experience the car coming to a complete stop on its own at highway speeds. Experienced this on the bridge, being left stuck and almost causing a wreck. Made the bridge very unsafe for others. I had a “drive train malfunction” warning& check engine light that I thought was fixed with multiple mechanic trips but problems have only gotten worse. No inspections have been done in regards to the recall. The car has sat unable to drive for 2 full months now.
Engine coolant pump: the electrical connector of the engine coolant pump could become damaged. Small drops of liquid from the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) system could drip down onto the electrical connector of the pump. Safety risk over time, this could lead to a short circuit and, in rare cases, a thermal event or a fire. We took it to a car shop and they charged us over $800 fixing something else that was not the issue. We haven’t been able to drive this car for months and it has caused tremendous inconveniences.
I purchased the vehicle with no issues upon driving the vehicle for about 3 months I started having issues with the vehicle overheating and low coolant warning messages one day I was driving home and the engine suddenly started smoking I turned the vehicle off and opened the hood the vehicle had not started ever since. I realized the vehicle has a recall for the engine coolant pump doing further research made me realize a faulty engine coolant pump can cause engine failure by overheating the engine, which can lead to serious damage.
Fuel leak from factory fuel pump housing.
While driving our 2014 BMW 328d the engine misfired then stalled on the highway. This was a very dangerous and frightening scenario trying to push it off of the roadway while my wife and children were inside the car while highway traffic on the I-15 interstate rushes by. I was not able to restart, so we had it towed to our local BMW shop. Diagnosed as high pressure fuel pump complete failure. Metallic debris throughout the entire fuel system, lines, tank filter, injectors, pumps. No check engine light or any prior warning. Many of the components have already been disassembled to determine the extent of damage, and all the components are currently with the vehicle, and available for inspection. The vehicle has been at the shop since the end of June. Some parts were initially ordered then all repairs put on hold while awaiting direction/ recall approval from BMW of north America. 5 months later we are being told this VIN does not qualify for the safety recall. We can not afford the cost of the repairs and they will likely exceed the value of the car. We also need to remove it from storage at the shop it was towed to, and take it somewhere else while this is sorted out.
The car loose power while driving, near stop it pulls hard as it wants to turn off. Have show multiple times the fuel system error and shut off while operating. Is been doing the same problems for years now.
Water pump and thermostat failure at 60,000 miles even after a replacement. Car continues to overheat.

The vehicle, stopped while driving, overheating, no heat/ ac. It's winter, car stopped at night in an unknown location fory safety. Had it inspected by 2 different auto shops and was confirmed of the issue. Warning lights came on right before the car failed.
High pressure fuel pump failed while underway causing vehicle to immediately stall in traffic and lock in "park" making it unable to move. Mechanic (werner's european auto) confirmed diagnosis of catastrophic failure of the pump. Part is available for inspection. This part for the gasoline version of the 2014 328 series car is subject to a recall notice but for some reason the notice does not apply to the diesel version of this model. Repair cost is estimated at $11,000 to replace entire fuel system due to metal particles released when the pump broke.
I was driving on a busy two lane road. The vehicle instantly decelerated and made a large thump while driving at 55mph. The vehicle information system said there was a drivetrain malfunction, and all power was instantly gone. We were able to quickly pull off onto a small section off the road, but not in a safe manner, almost going into the ditch, in which I strongly was anticipating was going to be a total loss to the car as an accident and injury to myself and my wife. The vehicle then after waiting several hours was towed to a certified BMW shop to be looked at. The shop noted that it sounded like it was a high pressure fuel pump failure that caused the car to abruptly decelerate. The shop confirmed that the high pressure fuel pump did fail and with high probability took out all components associated with the fuel system. The recall/ safety issue only covered the high pressure fuel pump to 10 years or 120k miles. I have a 141k on the vehicle the issue is the safety aspect of the vehicle suddenly decelerating when at a safe driving speed with no way of knowing the issue with a the pump. These pumps and all components should be covered not only because of cost but because of the general issue of instant deceleration and the safety of not only the driver in the car but those that could be effected driving on the road with the car. This issue should not minimized by the manufacturer based on mileage or years of operation. It’s clearly an issue that is common and an issues that can have ramifications on the customers safety as well as those external of the vehicle.
I was driving to work and the car stalled in the middle of traffic when I slowed the vehicle down, the idle is rough and all over the place, car is very hesitant to accelerate and vibrates or shakes when approaching any speed. Then the check engine light popped on and is still on, I’ve parked the car since the incident to do some research on what the cause could be.
Stall/loss of power while entering highway on ramp. Engine died and would not restart. After inspecting car found the gas tank to be filled with metal shavings which is indicative of a failed high pressure fuel pump. My year make and model vehicle has a recall on the hpfp for the same reason but my VIN was supposedly not affected.
(1) failed component: high pressure fuel pump (2) the vehicle complete shut down without warning leaving the driver stranded on the road. (3) the problem has been assessed and confirmed. (4) the vehicle has been inspected by a certified BMW mechanic. (5) there was no warning prior to failure. Description: while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shut down. I was told by a certified BMW mechanic that the high pressure fuel pump imploded, sending metal chards through the fuel injection line thereby disabling the vehicle entirely. I inquired as to whether or not a recall had been issued and BMW told me it had not been issued for my vehicle. I have since learned that a recall was issued due to this exact problem but my VIN was not included in the recall, even though it is the year make and model associated with this very problem. The breakdown/disintegration of the equipment sending metal chard throughout the fuel line disabled and ruined the entire fuel system and its components with repairs costs estimated at $15,285. My car is within the ten year warranty but outside of the 120,000 miles. This is for the 328d xdrive wagon.

Drivetrain malfunction warning comes on when the car runs for a few hours in the heat or when randomly driving. Sometimes the warning will clear itself after waiting a few minutes, but it might come back after a few minutes driving or not. In other instances, the drivetrain will not clear itself and will take more than a few hours. Took it to the repair shop 3 times and they indicated it could be the fuel pump modular or spark plugs or it could just be that the heat is messing up the software system. The mechanic has mentioned that drivetrain malfunctions have been occurring more regularly with Bmws. The issue is that this drivetrain can malfunction at any random time. Driving on a highway, street, or just starting up the car after letting it sit for a few minutes or days. It's a safety hazard because it can happen at any time unexpectedly. When it does, the car goes into neutral and this is dangerous if driving on the highway at higher speeds and needing to pull over into right hand lane. I've not yet taken it to a dealer to look at, just a certified BMW repair shop. There have been no warning issues and the car clears whenever it is taken to the repair shop.
Subject: urgent complaint regarding potential safety hazard in 2014 BMW 328d fuel injector I am writing to report a serious safety concern regarding my 2014 BMW 328d. On about August of 2023, while operating my vehicle, I experienced a sudden and alarming issue that poses a significant risk to both myself and other motorists. As I came to a routine stop, smoke began pouring out from under the hood of the vehicle, obscuring my vision through the windshield. Simultaneously, a strong odor of diesel permeated the interior of the passenger compartment. Concerned for my safety, I immediately investigated and discovered that the fuel injector area was drenched with diesel fuel. Upon further inspection by a qualified mechanic, it was determined that a crack had developed in the fuel injector, causing the leak. This defect not only poses a serious fire hazard but also exposes occupants to toxic diesel fumes, creating an immediate and grave risk to safety. My concern is exacerbated by the fact that this incident appears to be part of a larger pattern of failures in BMW diesel automobiles. I have conducted research and found numerous recalls related to faulty fuel injectors in various BMW models over different years. However, to my astonishment, the 2014 BMW 328d, including mine, has not been included in any such recall despite the clear evidence of a recurring issue with fuel injectors. Given the severity of the situation and the potential danger it poses to myself and others on the road, I urge the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) to thoroughly investigate this matter. It is imperative that immediate action be taken to address this safety hazard, including the consideration of a recall for the affected vehicles. I kindly request a prompt response regarding the steps being taken to address this issue and ensure the safety of all BMW 328d owners.
Last Saturday, I was driving to new jersey. I drove from brooklyn through the holland tunnel with no issues. However, after driving about 4 or 5 miles on the new jersey turnpike the fuel pump malfunction light came on and the car started to slow down then jerk. Thankfully, I was able to pull off to the side since vehicles travel at a very high speed on the new jersey turnpike. After I pulled off to the side the engine stopped and would not restart. I was able to get a tow to the nearest BMW — BMW of bloomfield. They took my keys and ran my VIN. The service manager from that location advised me that they could fix the fuel pump for me at no cost because it is a known issue and is covered under code sulev. However, I would have to leave my car there for the weekend. Since I live in brooklyn, I decided to get another tow to BMW of manhattan where my car has been since Saturday. I did not receive a call from the service advisor until Monday evening, to whom I explained everything that I just wrote. He told me that there were no open recalls on my vehicle and he would let me know the cost to replace the fuel pump. I explained to him that the service manager at BMW of bloomfield said that I absolutely should not be charged for the repair because it is covered for new jersey and new york customers. Also, I looked up the code and issue on google and saw that other customers had the same issue and BMW repaired the vehicle at no charge. BMW of manhattan has stated that they will replace the fuel pump at no charge. However, I will need to pay over $1,000 to replace the fuel pump module and fpr module that both malfunctioned. Though the service advisor acknowledged that the fuel pump failure could have triggered the failure of the fuel pump module and the fpr module.
Car running lean oil leak getting hot, loss of power, jolting forward also my car has been in dealership shop for 2 years I'm being charged for services I know weren't done, overcharged, and my car still isn't fixed also the service manager told me he was aware of the recalls, when I told him to this was 4 days ago, however my car is being withheld from me,recalls have been known if it's been two yrs, they filed a lien June of last year I opposed it and they never responded back! my car still sits there causing injury to my livilyhood I've missed almost 1year of work I live in the sierra's where it snows I can't get to work with no car!.

On all e90 series 3 (2008 BMW 328i), the pcv valve fails and is welded into the valve cover, thus if it leaks or gets cracks in the orange membrane, it will cause car to stall. . I almost crashed 2x and this part should be recalled. . It affects the fuel air ratio in BMW e90, and the car will run lean and not receive enough gas as air is leaking from the broken membrane in the pvc valve. BMW will throw engine codes with lit check engine light on dash. This should be a recall as the whole valve cover has to be replaced to replace a defective $10 pcv valve which is ludicrous. . . The dealer charges thousand dollars and up to replace a ten dollar part. The car has rough idle and will stall, creating a dangerous driving situation and fatal accident . Please recall to have BMW dealer fix these plastic pvc valves on e90s. . . I have enclosed pic of the valve . . It also has a spring but the plastic orange mebrane cracks, breaks and leaks air inside valve, causing check engine codes, rough idle and stalling of vehicle. . The valve is located on top of valve cover, welded into valve cover. Please help. . Thank you state florida p. S. Heat causes the pcv membrane to crack more~~pic enclosed of pcv valve its welded into top valve cover. . No other car has a pcv valve mounted this way so whole valve cover needs to be replaced~ thank u.
Driving vehicle home from work and it completely lost power and died. ""drivetrain malfunction" error popped up on the screen. Vehicle would crank but not start. Towed to repair shop. High pressure fuel pump issue is on the radar for 2014 BMW 328d, BMW has recalled less than 12000 cars. My vehicle is not currently on the recall list.
My son's 2015, BMW 328i was taken to BMW in canton, ohio due to "fluttering" in gas pedal and "possible transmission slipping and variations in transmission while driving. The check engine light was on and was diagnosed at dealership that the mass flow sensor was malfunctioning. The wires to the mass flow sensor were corroded and needed fixed before sensor could be assessed. The wires were fixed and the check engine light went out so the car was considered by the BMW dealer service department to be fixed and I paid $545 for $42 in parts and $503 in labor. The service advisor named mark, assured me that it had been test driven by service technician and that the car was in proper working condition. I picked the car up, for my son, at 10 am and drove south to west virginia to deliver the car to my son. At 12:15, I pulled off the freeway and stopped at a light that was at a busy intersection, with a car in front of me. I came to a complete stop with my foot on the brake and my car accelerated at a high speed with my foot completely on the brake almost to the floor. I rammed into the car in front of me and the car flew forward 500 feet. My BMW stopped after it hit the car in front of me. I sat in the car in shock with my foot still on the brake as the driver in front of me came to my window and asked me " what the hell are you doing"? she could clearly see that my foot was still on the brake. There were minor scratches on her bumper and, her and her son had sore necks. The front of my car had a broken grill, and other broken pieces. Broken pieces were lying on thre road. I called aaa and had it towed to BMW in st. Albans, west virginia. A call was made to canton, BMW and corporate BMW to make a report on BMW rapidly accelerating with brakes completely on. Corporate personelle are to call me to get a report from me and send a special team to investigate the "rapid acceleration" while the brakes were on. Now awaiting for the 2015 BMW 328i to be looked at.
Vehicle is 100% BMW serviced for it's history, showroom to present. Vehicle had been smoking after sitting 2-3 days and driving. We'd park and see wisps of smoke coming from the wheelwells and engine bay. Alarming! never witnessed open flame, but as the saying goes, if there's smoke. . . Questionable component: 328xd fuel sensor probe (BMW part #13-53-8-594-893 fuel feed line 135040 ) complaint/report pertains to fuel sensor probe failure and resultant fuel propagation(backfeeding/leaking fuel from sensor connection) into adjacent wiring/engine bay foils. Diagnostic system did not report sensor failure until extensive damage and hazard was realized. BMW USA responded to report as not covered by warranty(high mile vehicle) and therefore not of responsibility of BMW. According to local BMW service team the event is not unusual and that several vehicles with same fail/error codes have exhibited similar fuel leakage/propagation/damages. Very probable fire hazard costly repairs; if system had detected failure when sensor failed we would have had it fixed. We reported the smoking several times but the service department didn't isolate the problem. We continued to drive the vehicle cross-country for 6+ months; each time the problem got worse. We got lucky repair bills came to almost $10k by the time we added all visits and the entire wiring bundle that had to be replaced due to fuel damage. Failed sensor repair is around $750? BMW needs to implement a way to mitigate this problem to keep from having some potentially catastrophic/lethal endings. Similar problems that have contributed to vehicle fires in these BMW vehicles: 1) heater box malfunctions 2) pcv valve 3) coolant leak.
I checked the car history report for this car, it said that it had all of the scheduled maintenance. I have not driven this car hard, I used the best gas I could. I had this car for only 4 months - I took it in to carmax to get checked out about 2 weeks after I got it back in October. They ran tests, and told me everything was fine that "it could've been a loose fuel cap". 3 months later, well before even an oil change was required - my car gave me the same error message only now it would turn off everytime I put it in drive. If this happened on the road I definitely could've been killed. This car showed 0 signs of any type of malfunction and did not give me any indication that anything was wrong. Fast forward to taking it to the mins auto (BMW recommended) they informed me that this car did not in fact seem it had regular oil changes contrasting what was in the carafe report. The timing chain seems to be the culprit and now I'm stuck with a $10,000 bill on a car before it's first oil change, on top of the dealership (carmax) not being helpful at all - when I did everything right with this car. When minsauto ran tests they found so many errors - I don't understand, neither can they - understand how carmax could miss any of these. I was also told by them that because this happens extremely frequently on these 3-series models, they are pretty familiar with the process and it takes exactly 24 hours to remove the engine, the pistons and take these things apart. So I think this should be investigated and taken seriously. Thank you.
High-pressure fuel pump failed while driving causing vehicle to stop abruptly, a recall for this part due to the same issues already exists but not for my VIN.
Reporting very dangerous sudden unintended acceleration of 2015 BMW 328i: when about to back out of a parking space in a parking garage, I pressed the brakes and turned on the ignition switch. After looking around to ensure no cars or people were near the car, I put the gear shift in reverse, turned my whole head entirely over my right shoulder to look through the back windshield and, seeing nothing behind me, began to slowly lift my foot from the brake to reverse out of the parking space. I turned the steering wheel towards the left and the back of the car went to the left. The bumper gently tapped a white column that had been out of sight all the way further over my right shoulder. I gently pressed on the brake, and when I switched the gear shift into drive, the car suddenly and explosively accelerated forward extremely fast and sped out of control. I pressed the brakes to stop the car, which did nothing, and the car slammed into cement wall so hard that it sounded like an explosion and the air bags deployed. I hit my mouth/face/head on the air bag and got whiplash from the sudden stop. When I got out of the car, a couple who’d heard the explosion drove by and asked if I was ok. After a few moments I reached into the car to turn off ignition switch. This event resulted in very serious damage to the car, which was totaled, and I received medical injuries. This incident was reported to my automobile insurance company and to north America BMW, who has escalated the report to higher levels due to the seriousness of the incident, and will be doing investigations this week. The accelerator pedal or gear box dangerously and seriously malfunctioned, and the car is available for inspection upon request. My safety was seriously at risk as I have headaches and whiplash symptoms. If there were no wall there, or if there had been people or cars anywhere in front of the car, they would have been killed and smashed because the car suddenly accelerated so quickly.
I was in a busy freeway driving & now my 2014 BMW 328 d high pressure fuel failed which caused me to stall and be stuck in the middle of the freeway which also almost made me cause like 10 car crashes it was sorry scary but lucky police helped out and other driver where also caution.
The high-pressure fuel pump failed causing the engine to stop completely without any prior warning and the car put itself in park on the highway and would not get out of park to go into neutral or any other gear. This could have caused a very serious crash and highly increased my risk of injury or death. You are more than welcome to inspect it. It is currently sitting at the dealership waiting for a resolution. My safety and the safety of many others on the 65mph highway were put at risk when the car completely stopped in the middle of the road and would not move until the tow truck arrived to drag it on their truck (would not even go into neutral). The problem was confirmed by the BMW dealership of cincinnati and inspected by them as well. There were absolutely no warning messages, signs, or anything informing me of an issue before this occurred. However, once the car was towed and we turned it back on once it arrived at the dealership and warning lamp appeared on the dashboard. Here is the link to the video the dealership sent me after it was inspected :: https://api. Mykaarma. Com/video-walkaround/details?inspection_uuid=633c93939e372707d24145f0&filetype=video.
