Due to its diesel related scandals, BMW has agreed to extend its diesel emission related components' warranty to 10 years or 120k miles. My 2014 BMW 328d's nox sensor failed in 2022 and I submitted my repair bill for replacing the nox sensor to BMW recently. BMW denied my reimbursement claiming the warranty expired despite the documents I submitted was for a repair done in 2022 with credit card receipts and repair shop copy of work done.

I am having the same exact issues at the models 2015 and up have experienced with the fuel injectors. 2014 wasn’t involved in the extension of the warranty when it experiences the same failures because it’s the same parts. I have 3 fault codes for injectors.
Diesel emissions system is producing an error code due to incorrect coding by the manufacturer for us grade diesel fuel. Check engine light has come on. There are warranties out for the model years just slightly older than mine. I have read many threads with people talking about having the same issue.
High pressure fuel pump failed while BMW dealership mechanic was test-driving car after replacing two tires/oil change/replacing fuel filter/performing fix for recall of egr cooler part; per the service manager at the dealership, metal particles were subsequently found in the quantity control valve, necessitating complete replacement of fuel system. There is a known recall for year, make and model of my car (2014 BMW 328d) for the fuel pump, but apparently my VIN number is not falling under the recall. This issue appears identical to the issue the recall was issued for other cars with this same year/make/model. I have not performed the repair as they are quoting about $17,000 for the fix. There were no warning lights, messages or symptoms of the problem prior to this issue. In addition, they indicated I needed a new o-ring part for the fuel filter they were replacing as it was the wrong part, but they said it had nothing to do with the fuel pump. (service said the o-ring continued to hold and was working as normal, and they recommended putting the correct by part number o-ring in its place so the fuel filter would not have come unsecured from its fitting in the future. They said the issue with the vehicle did not come from the o-ring/fuel filter; it is by their determination based upon the metal shavings in the quantity control valve, caused because the high pressure pump came apart internally and contaminated your fueling system. They said this is due to age. ) they indicated that had the pump failed while I was on the highway or traveling I and/or others could have been seriously injured or killed. No one else has inspected the car at this point and it remains at the dealership for now.
While im driving at my normal speed about 70mph the car start to get in safe mode, I was on the free way at the time so the car start to stop and lost accerlation, when I checl with my mechanic he told me I need to change the fuel pump and I found out there is a complane "report receipt date: Mar 31, 2015 NHTSA campaign number: 15v189000 component(s): fuel system, gasoline potential number of units affected: 18,054" but when I called the dealership they told me im not covered to fix the problem but my car was listed on here" manufacturer: BMW of north America, llc summary: BMW of north America llc (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2014 228i coupe, m235i coupe, 320i, 320xi, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi, activehybrid 3, 328xi sports wagon, 428i coupe, 428xi coupe, 435i coupe, 435xi coupe, 428i convertible, 428xi convertible, 435i convertible, 328xi gran turismo, 335xi gran turismo, and 2015 428i gran coupe, 428xi gran coupe, and 435i gran coupe vehicles. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.

Hi, my vehicle has a recall, 21v586, for high pressure fuel pump. I suggest this recall should be elevated to a mandatory recall. When my fuel pump failed it immediately lost power while driving. I was fortunate to maneuver the car across traffic to a safe location. I consider myself a defensive and conscious driver. Had this been my wife or someone else I'm not real confident that they would be able to safely maneuver the vehicle as there was no warning. Moreover, my car has been unavailable since 5/19 when this occurred. This pump had a such a catastrophic failure that it sheared a mounting bolt holding it to engine. Metal fragments were displaced throughout the fuel system. Most recent estimate to replace fuel tank, fuel lines, low pressure pump and high pressure pump stands at $14,000+. I was just informed on 6/21, that the engine will need to be removed to extract mounting bolt of the high pressure fuel pump. At this point, I don't know when my car will be returned to me.

The car was over heating and not starting as well as fuel pump error on my dash. There is an open recall on my vehicle starting March of 2022 it is now June and BMW says they don’t know when they will have a remedy for this and it could be months but I need my car.

Upon starting my vehicle there is a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin. The car was making a noise that has been diagnosed by a mechanic as engine failure and this vehicle is only 10 years old. This car is my only means of transportation. I need someone to help figure out what to do with it. These cars are too costly to consumers to be just be dead in a year span. There is no possible way the manufacture is unaware of these issues. My car has had a burning smell that could never be located by the dealer. Though it all there are still zero safety lights to point me in any direction. . How can it be possible that something seeming so unstable have no warning lights to give indication that something is wrong with it . I’m just tired of all these entities being able to deliberately falsify information to entice me to purchase a vehicle knowing it has failures and safety issues. I don’t have another car. I want to use the one l already paid for. I need someone who cares to help me. I shouldn’t be fearful for my life driving a vehicle on the road. If someone can please look into what can be done by the manufacturer, I would appreciate it. The dealer deems this vehicle inoperable. . Where do I go from here???.

After running errands and car had been parked for an hour or so, I returned to my vehicle and it would crank but would not start. After trying to start a few times it finally started and I was able to make it home without having to call a tow truck (or being abandoned in a mall parking lot in the middle of the night). My car drove fine the next day, after driving for about an hour I parked at my parents home during a visit that lasted an hour or so. When returning to my vehicle to leave the same thing happened as before. It would crank but would not start. It took a few tries to start and then it ran fine and I was able to make it home with no issue. It started okay the following day and I was able to drive to and from work (approx. 8 miles). After parking over night I went to start vehicle and it would not start at all. It would crank but would not start. I had the battery replaced thinking it was an old battery (2010 vehicle) this would still not work, the car was also not able to be jumped from the engine compartment, may have something to do with the battery lines or fuel pump?previous recall? I did not own this vehicle prior to 2018 so I am not sure if this could be the issue? or properly repaired previous recall? recently April 2022 recall-pcv valve heater. The recall information claims that it is only activated in "cold weather climates" and that it may not have been produced to specifications by the supplier. Over time this could lead to overheating in the engine compartment. In some cases, this could lead to fire! this recall's remedy is unavailable at this time which is extremely concerning. I am actually scared to attempt to continue to inspect, as this recall can cause a fire. If this was a recall regarding windows, or windshield wipers that would be a little easier to deal with, but fires! the recall info requested drivers and passengers to dial 911 and immediately move to a safe location away from traffic if you see smoke/funny smell no remedy availabl.

The engine stopped running as I was driving. I was able to coast to a stop but once stopped I was unable to put the vehicle in neutral so it was blocking the roadway. The cause of the vehicle engine to stop was a failure on the high pressure fuel pump. I see there has been a recall issued for this defect but my vehicle was not included. Must be an error on Bmws identification of the vehicles affected.
The car is experiencing rough idles and an imbalance in the overall performance. The pcv valve is not allowing enough air to return to the combustion chamber, creating a rough idle as the levels are imbalanced. It’s also causing a lean air to fuel mixture, oil leaks and increased fuel consumption. The pcv valve hoses became blocked by built-up moisture causing high pressure to be built up in the engine crankcase. The only way for this high pressure to escape is up through the cylinders and out of the gaskets, thus causing the gaskets to lose their seals. Oil is now able to leak out of the gaskets because the seal has been ruptured. I’ve already spent thousands of dollars on services including gasket changes.
I filled tank up with gas and developed a gas leak with strong gas odor and gas dripping onto the roadway. My safety was put at risk because gasoline was dripping past my hot exhaust piping which has the potential to catch on fire. My independent service center has confirmed this issue. The manufacturer has denied that their is a systemic failure that could result in a gasoline fire. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating a problem.

I recently had my car serviced and the oil changed over the summer, so there were no warning indicators or service issues prior to this incident. I left for work and had no indications of any problems. I drove for about 10-15 minutes when a warning notification popped up stating engine oil pressure low. A few seconds later, the check engine light came on with a notification there was a "drivetrain malfunction". The car started to decrease speed significantly and I pulled over as soon as I could. I turned the car off and waited a couple minutes, then tried to turn it on. The car power/battery was still working properly, but the engine did not start. I had the car towed to the dealership that I use. I was notified that the drivetrain malfunction is due to "timing chain components failure" and the cost is approximately $16,000. I have taken care of any previous recalls and there are no open recalls that exist currently. In 2014, the same situation occurred, in the same car, where I also received a "drivetrain malfunction" and check engine light. During this time my vehicle also stopped working while I was driving it. Both of these incidents happened very quickly, and I am extremely lucky that no one was injured in either situation. This issue is extremely unsafe and clearly has not been fixed by the required recalls so far. I urge you to look into this further.
My vehicle has been on recall since March 2, 2022. There are increasing problems and an occasional smoke and burning smell. This is effecting me getting an inspection and registering my vehicle.
Car doesn’t hold a battery wants to start 2% of the time engine shook the pulley off so have troubles steering it’s under recall for a few things I would love a new car from BMW because this one is a nightmare the BMW tech advised me not to drive it so have been carless all year pretty much.

Unknown, BMW had to replace an eccentric shaft sensor, valve cover fuel pump sensing unit after check engine light appeared. The repair was significant and appeared to be a huge safety hazard from my understanding. Please look into this matter. Thank you.

On February 5, 2022 while driving on 70 mph on i64 my vehicle shut down due to the recall causing the the high-pressure fuel pump to shut down causing the engine to stall and a message that there was a powertrain malfunction and the vehicle would not start back or go into gear. The interstate was very busy and I could have been hit by a tractor trailer or another vehicle at high speed. I received a recall notice that stated there was a remedy available November 2021, but when I called the dealership I was told there were no parts available and they would call me when parts became available. A month went by and the issue with the recall happened leaving me in a very dangerous situation. The car was towed to moses BMW on 2/6/22 and over 30 parts have been ordered. I have been told that there is no estimate on when the parts would arrive. There is a second safety recall with no remedy that has been present October 2018 and moses BMW sold me the vehicle in June 2020. I received a notice January 2022. This recall is for the egr cooler developing an internal leak possibly causing the vehicle to catch fire. I have asked BMW to buy the vehicle back due to safety reasons and the long wait time to fix the one recall and no fix for the other, and they refuse. In addition, they sold me a vehicle that was under recall and according to s. 1634 - used car safety recall repair act that was against the law.
I started smelling burning oil from my engine and brought it to the mechanic. He confirmed that my car has a valve cover leak and a electrical issue. The car dies after being left off for more then 12 hours. The car miss fire and have ruff idle. Warning lights power train came on after I had the miss fire. Had p0171 and 02 sensor code.
The plastic power pieces that goes over the battery melted. Ever since then I have had electrical problems. My concern is when that pieces melted it could have caused a fire. I dint even know it melted till I started have electrical problems and had to look at my battery. As far as the fuel problems I have a n51 and from what I understand the parts for it are hard to find I would like to know more about the BMW 15yr/150,000 mile warrenty that the BMW forms are talking about.
Issue: hpfp high pressure fuel pump is failing resulting in an increasing deposit of metallic shavings within the pump housing and a corresponding deviation in the measured fuel rail pressure. Safety: the vehicle will code and shut down while you are driving. BMW dealership: replaced items other then the root cause hpfp. A new fuel rail and sensors installed at my expense because of dealership decision. 1,000 miles after repair at dealership, codes came back for low pressure and high pressure faults. Warning lamps on and car shut offs while driving. Make and model of car with the same issues but VIN is not on this recall? NHTSA campaign number: 21v586000.
Car stop completely on main st / took car to dealer and they said it’s the fuel pump ( defective ) / cost to replace about 2000. Lucky no lots of cars behind us at the time ( 2012 / 328 I BMW ).

I suffered a breakdown in my 2014 BMW 328d on 26 oct 21 with a drive train malfunction warning. Vehicle stalled and was unable to be restarted. Vehicle was towed to local repair shop, International auto specialist, located in fredericksburg, va, and diagnosed as a high pressure fuel pump failure and calling for the entire replacement of the vehicles fuel system. At the recommendation of my local repair shop, the vehicle was then towed 59 miles to the closest BMW dealership, BMW fairfax, va, for repair. The safety issue I have is that a recall notice (recall campaign #21v-586) was issued by BMW north America in September 2021 for high pressure fuel pump failures affecting 2014-2018 BMW diesel engine vehicles ranging from 3 series, 5 series, 7 series, x3 sav, and x5 sav models. I never received a recall notice for this vehicle, or my 2015 BMW x5d sav, and have been told by BMW fairfax, va, and BMW corporate that my high pressure fuel pump only carries an extended 10-year, 120,000 warranty, even through both vehicles falls within the parameters of the open recall notice issued by BMW north America. Further, BMW fairfax, va has informed me that all other parts damaged by the high pressure fuel pump failure are not covered by the extended warranty and any cost associated with additional repairs is the customers responsibility, regardless of the fact that they will only replace the defective part at the time of failure and not before. How can BMW north America issue a recall notice for a specific group of vehicles, but not include all vehicles that fall within the specifications associated to the recall? this part failure occurred while I was driving in heavy traffic and I was fortunate it did not cause series bodily harm to myself or others. I respectfully request you investigate the situation to determine BMW's liability and inept handling of this recall in order to prevent others from being harmed. Documentation can be provided if necessary. Thank you.
High pressure fuel pump started going out on 15 April 2021 while under manufacturer warranty. Took to moss motors BMW in lafayette la. BMW found high pressure fuel pump issue, replaced fuel rail and sensors. Check engine light came back on 21 may 2021. Took to BMW of mobile for inspection. BMW could find no issues and returned car on 5 June 2021. Check engine light came back on 5 June 2021 and car stopped function. Had towed to BMW of mobile. BMW of mobile found metal shavings in fuel tank, indicative of high pressure fuel pump failure. BMW of mobile cleaned tank, replaced compensation flow valve, and returned car on 5 July 2021 (now out of manufacturer warranty period). Check engine light came back on 22 July 2021. Limped car to moss motors in lafayette, la. Informed that car has high pressure fuel pump failure and researching issue. BMW researching issue and as of 1 oct 2021 still has no resolution.
The fuel tank has some kind of leak, not specified where by the dealership, but I suspect it is on the top of the tank. When I first had this vehicle serviced in 2019, I mentioned a small of diesel. The service advisor told me it was a diesel "feature". Having recently acquired another diesel vehicle that does not smell, I requested a proper check be made this year. I now believe the tank was leaking when I first bought the car in 2018. A cursory search of the internet shows that this is not an unusual occurrence. I was quoted $3200 for the repair, a ridiculous amount that is probably 25% the market value of a non-leaking car. BMW need to recall all f30 models and replace any leaking tanks at their expense. I am only continuing to use the vehicle as no liquid is in evidence and diesel is very hard to ignite. Were the car gasoline powered I would have little choice but to get the car repaired.
In July 2021 I was driving on a residential street when my vehicle experienced loss of power. The vehicle shutdown and stopped in the middle of the road. Mechanic found metal particles in fuel system that may have been cause by fuel pump failure. It was reported to insurance company. The fuel system was replaced but vehicle continues to have issues with leaks etc.
I was told by couple shops the my timing chain as a problem. . Car will not start. . . . . Stalled out on a major intersection while my son was driving. . . . The car just stop working had to get it towed back to the house another expense. . . The car has been parked for three months and still paying the car note . . I see a drivetrains malfunction on the display. . . Please help me and keep my son safe. . BMW the the ultiminte driving machine plz make the safest driving machine.
My girlfriend has owned this vehicle for about two years now. Along with other maintenance (all understandable until now) there is a $2000 cost. The fuel tank has started leaking due to a major design flaw by BMW. To save money they (BMW) used tanks from previous model years and glued a cap over a no longer needed hole and now the cap is not sealing and the tank is leaking! if you do not believe me look at pictures of used 2015 BMW 328i fuel tanks. It is beyond me why a car so expensive could have something designed so amateur.
BMW of murietta will not honor the recalls.
On my drive home I noticed a strong smell of dizel fuel. Stoped as soon as it was possible . Noticed a fuel was poring to the ground under my engine. Shut it down and call aaa. At the BMW dealership repair shop they found a broken fuel supply line that was rubbing against the vacuum pipe. My car was covered with fuel from engine to a trunk to everything under including muffler ,soaking wet weals and tires, I lost a half tank of fuel in about 5 minutes. It's scare me a lot ,I think it was a miracle it did not catch a fire on 93 degree day, my wife will never sit in this car again. I will feel guilty if I will sell this car to somebody else. Don't know what to do now. What kind of design it is? how fuel line can constantly rub something else? this car just over 70000 miles, garage kept, never been in any accidents, well maintain.
While driving both in regular traffic and highway traffic the car has without warning gone into a limp mode shuddering allowing no power at all to the accelerator. A message pops up "drivetrain malfunction maximum drivetrain output not at available. If you get pulled over turn the vehicle off wait a couple minutes turn the ignition back on the vehicle runs like that never happened. This is extremely dangerous if the vehicle goes limp no power while on the freeway in front of a big 18 wheeler it happened to me the other vehicles do not understand your vehicle just died while going 75 mph.
Diesel fuel found in unexpected areas including wiring harness, fuel injectors, pressure sensors, turbo charger component, dde, egr, etc. Unable to locate source of fuel leak into electrical system causing potential fire hazard or serious vehicle malfunctioning. Advised by BMW service manager that cost to perform repair more costly than value of vehicle. BMW not supportive in correction or assistance with issues. Over 2. 5 years of ownership, vehicle serviced >5+ times for engine warning light and drive train malfunction alerts. Egr valve replaced x3, exhaust pre dpftemp sensor, etc. Service performed on recalled flex disc b27, and egr cooler (multiple times)per advisory. Regular and timely maintenance performed on vehicle.
I was told by BMW that my vehicle doesn't qualify for recall 21v-586. However my high pressure fuel pump failed at about 130,000 miles. I am trying to be reimbursed for my cost of parts under the tread act but BMW says my VIN wasn't included by NHTSA. The recall seems to cover all BMW diesels from 2014 to 2018. Please help. Michael kanterakis, michaelkanterakis@gmail. Com 973-432-0673. Thanks.
While on a red light we were at a dead stop. As the light turned green to turn right I accelerated the gas pedal and the car stalled out in the middle of the road while traffic was flowing. Had to push the car out of the road and had to get the car towed home. Now the car doesn’t turn on it just cranks over.
My vehicle is experiencing the same symptoms and is reporting the same trouble codes related to recall number: 17v683000. However, my vehicle is not included in this recall. I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated and my vehicles VIN included in this recall.
My issue is exactly as described in recall campaign 14v-176, also listed as si b11 07 14. It is a faulty vanos unit with failing bolts. My car's model and year are listed in both of these documents, however my specific VIN is not listed as part of the recall. My car is currently damaged due to the vanos bolts shearing off completely and falling into the oil pan, as described exactly in the above recall notices. This is the diagnosis from BMW of seattle. It is very clear that my car suffers the same faulty part as listed and should be part of the recall. I believe it is in error that it is not. As it stands, BMW cannot help me and are forcing me to pay out of pocket. The service technician tells me that my VIN should be included in the recall and does not understand why it isn't, but because it isn't they will not fix the issue under the recall. This is a very serious issue. Please correct the documentation to include my vehicle, which matches the listed vehicles in the vanos recall paperwork. Thank you.
