At temperature above 87 degrees f (after a full day in open parking lot under sun) as indicated on the car's dashboard, the seat belt sensor of the car malfunctioned. Even though I had my seat belt firmly clasped but the car kept on beeping seatbelt warning for about 5-10 minutes until the temperature inside the car dropped to less than 87 degrees f. The seatbelt warning went away after I opened the window and let the car cool down or switched on ac in the car. This is a repeatable problem and can be reproduced if my car is kept in direct summer sun for an afternoon and has occurred a number of times in the past. Since airbag sensors interact with the faulty seatbelt sensors so it has potentially serious safety consequences and need to be addressed by BMW as soon as possible.

Seat belt and air bag warning lights go on when there's no one sitting in the passenger seat. Was told this is likely a seat sensor issue. I have the sport package and have read that many people have the seat sensor issue with sport seats. Also there has been a recall for almost every year model for the BMW 3-series up to 2007 for seat sensor recall. The light is on constantly now when the car is turned on, whether it is driving or stationary. The lights used to go intermittently on or off but now they are staying on. This makes questionable whether the seat belts are working or if the air bags will deploy.

When I was driving and at the stop light, when I was about to go and the air bags came on and the sound ding, ding, ding, and the air bags light came on the dash? when I take it to my local shop and let them run ob2 scanner and it came up on the ob2 scanner it was the passenger side air bags mat sensor.

While I'm driving the seat light (srs) just came on the dash. When I take it to the dealer and get it scan, they said it the seat mat sensor is mess up and so I ask them is it in the recall and they told me it not on the recall. So that is f. Cking weird? and I was piss off and just left.
Driver side seat gets so hot that the seat warmer cannot be kept on, even at the lowest setting, for longer than a few minutes.
April 2013, a warning signal on my vehicle notified me there was a need for coolant. I scheduled maintenance for 4/18/13. I informed them of the coolant warning and also inquired about recall notices. On 4/19/13, I called weber BMW myself to check the status, louie informed me there were 3 recall notices on my car that were apparent and needed to be repaired, and that they would need to hold my car until Monday 4/22/13. I picked up my car on 4/23/13 and louie informed me all the recalls were fixed and my car was good to take home. On 4/24/13, the coolant warning signaled again. That evening, my car began to exert even more issues than before! first the coolant warning, then warning telling me to drive moderately, then pull over immediately engine overheating. I pulled the car over, stopped the engine allowing it to cool down, and starting it back up, the car would not go over 17 mph. I contacted weber BMW for another service scheduled for 4/30/13. A representative from weber BMW contacted me on 4/29/13 and informed me louie advised I casually stop by to top off my coolant,â and that should resolve my problems. I found this resolution skeptical, lazy, and knew it would not be adequate to resolve the issues with my car. I stopped by weber on 4/29/13 and the service adviser attempted to top off my coolant, when we both noticed the coolant spilling out of the other side of the engine (I emphasize spilling and not leaking). I was advised not to drive the vehicle. Louie called me on 4/30/13 to reported a hole in the part that was replaced per the recall causing the coolant to spill out. He let me know that the car would be ready next day 5/1/13 for pick up. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle any longer. I purchased this car 4/10/12, and it began showing issues of poor manufacturing just shy of a year, I only have 14,000miles on the vehicle.

I purchased my BMW in germany!!! there was a recall for 2006 (I drive a 2007) models of this vehicle for the passenger seat occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat. When this mat becomes defective, it disables airbag systems in the vehicles. This has been a known problem since 2008 (when the recall was issued), however these cars were produced from 2006-2008+ before the recall was issued. The recall only covers 2006 models which is absolutely ridiculous. If the same exact vehicle continues to be produced with the same defective part that have the same problem, but you only cover one year of it being produced when there were three, what good is that? why is it that I have to drive around in a car that has a known defective airbag system because of the defective detection mat and bet on my luck that I don't get in a serious accident and be caught with no air bags for safety. This is a serious problem. . .

This is a serious lawsuit waiting to happen the minute someone gets in an accident and the airbags don't deploy due to the failed passenger seat sensor. I know you have complaints about this. . Passenger side air bag disengages if passenger sits on any type cushion. Passenger side air bag disengaged light is on if passenger is in the passenger seat sitting on any type of cushion or padding. The air bag can disengage if passenger wears a padded winter coat. This BMW 328i originally was delivered with the air bag engaged with or without a passenger in the passenger seat, the passenger side air bag disabled light was always off and the air bag was engaged. BMW will not restore to the original delivered condition. The passenger sitting on any cushion or padding is in danger of injury because of a disengaged passenger air bag. This was not the original delivered condition. . . . Updated11/21/12.
Car parked in the garage over 24hrs ignited and resulted into fire. No known issue before the incident occur, from the looks of the car the fire started in the interior of the car and could have been caused by electrical. No after market installed equipment, no equipment left inside the car that have caused the fire. Almost burned down my house.

I unlocked the car and sat in the driver's seat. My wife sat in the front passenger seat. I inserted the keyfob and pushed the 'start' button. The car turned on and about 5 seconds later we heard a 'gong' sound. We looked at the screen and it was showing a red warning about the front passenger airbag being disabled. I powered off the car, waited a minute and powered it back on. Same error came up. So I powered off the car a second time, asked the wife to get out of the car and then back onto the front passenger seat, then I powered on the car. The error went away. We drove 15 minutes to dinner, ate and returned home without further incident. That night I setup an appointment with global imports BMW for 9/12/2012 to have them look at it. The dealer ran diagnostics and reported the following in regards to the front passenger seat issue: "87844 performed short test and found fault mrs-93c3. Performed test module and found the passenger seat mat to be defective. Customer declined the seat mat replacement. " next to this I had the service manager write in the total repair cost, $1,345. 70. I still have a copy of the paperwork with the details if needed. I declined the repair at the time because I felt the fact they found ". . . The seat mat to be defective" indicated a known issue. Fast forward to today 4/11/2014, NHTSA lists a "recall subject : front seat occupant protection mat" campaign number 13v564000. I called BMW USA's customer relations number and they told me my car had no recalls associated with it even though there's clearly an issue with the sensor mat. To this day I have yet to receive any recall letter's from BMW nor NHTSA. The car still brings up this error when my wife sits in the front passenger seat. It's not safe and I should not have to pay for repairs if there's an active recall for this model year. Please help.
Passenger seat occupancy mat sensor broken. Problem started, 5 years ago. This seems to be a well documented problem affecting many different BMW models/years. BMW will not take responsibility for the situation. Please help.
The passenger side occupancy sensor is a known problem and I believe that the warranty extension has not covered all affected vehicles. My BMW 2007 328 convertible has the identical problem as identified below. I have repaired it and it has continued to malfunction numerous times since, while driving and while stopped, creating a safety issue for anyone in the passenger side should there be an accident. I believe this faulty part must have been used in my 2007 328 convertible. August 2008 -- BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series (sport seat), my 2004-2006 5 series (standard and sport seat), and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. A fatigue failure of the front passenger seat occupant detection mat can occur. If this happens, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. In this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. BMW will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417. BMW is extending the warranty to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit to the following vehicles: my 2006 6-series, 3-series (standard seat), my 2004-2005 z4, my 2004-2006 7-series, my 2006 x5, and my 2004-2006 5-series (comfort seat). Under the extended warranty program, the occupant detection mat in a vehicle that experiences this specific issue will be replaced at no charge to the customer. This recall was the subject of an engineering analysis, ea08-001, conducted by the office of defects investigation. 08v384.

2011 BMW 328i. Consumer states problem with the rail on which the front seats are mounted the consumer stated each seat has two rails attached to the floor. The rails, attach to the seats move to allow adjustment. When the drivers seat is properly adjusted, the top rails mounted on the seats, project several inches into foot well of the rear passenger compartment. The rails are bare metal and have sharp edges on the end and they project 2 1/2 inches and are not flushed to the floor. The consumer believed there was ample space for his feet to pass beneath the sharp rails. He believed it posed a safety hazard while entering and exiting the vehicle.
Seats are squeaking and rattling. Yh.
