1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2022

Fuel injectors and high pressure fuel pump. I believe there was a recall for the 335i model not the 335xi. These are the same exact engines and were produced at the same exact time with the same exact parts. BMW created index 1 injectors and has since remanufactured to what today is now called an index 12 injector. I believe my model is well over due to qualify for this recall because old injectors can cause a fire while driving. Fuel leaks around electrical spark plugs and BMW knows this but they only recalled for the rwd model which is ridiculous. Not only could this cause a fire, but it could danger the lives of the driver, passenger, and others on the road. Without a recall owners are forced to try and scrape together at least $2,850 just for the updated injectors not including the labor fee. Pressure builds up and these injectors could pop out (due to pressure) which could cause a serious accident. BMW needs to do what is right and recall the 2007-2011 335xi because they know these have the same problems as a regular 335. Please help insure the safety of vehicle operators and general public by investigating this issue and demand BMW to provide customers with the 335xi recalls. There is also an issue with the turbos that often fail due to “wastegate rattle”. This is highly dangerous because if the turbo fails while driving your cars engine will stop and overheat risking potential fire and crashing.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2022

I bought a 2007 BMW 335i convertible on March 10th 2022. On March 18th I left my house and as I was pulling out of my neighborhood the vehicle cut off at about 25 miles an hour and as I pulled over I noticed black smoke coming out from under the hood. There were no warning lights on with the exception of a random airbag light that came on the day after I bought the car and a tire pressure monitor light. My wife and I pulled over and I ran to a nearby house and took a case of dasani water from painters who were working (with their permission). I got the fire put out within minutes of its starting but the wiring harness is completely melted together along with all of the induction piping to the turbos and the intake manifold and fuel line. I told the car home and had my insurance agent look at it. She said because it was a fire it would be a mechanical issue and needed to go to the BMW dealership. I paid to have it towed there that day. The dealer called me about an hour after the car showed up there and said that they would not service or inspect the vehicle for damage because I have the wrong insurance company. I was forced to tow the car back home after being turned away by several other dealerships and collision centers due to the high volume of mechanical work already on their lots. BMW has open recalls on 3 series vehicles because they can have engine fires. My car for some reason is not one of the ones they cover under that recall. Still have no resolution from my insurance company on what to do because the car hasn't been officially inspected by a BMW technician. I've now towed the car three times and I'm exactly where I was at the beginning of this claim.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2021

The oil filter housing gasket, the mechatronic transmission and the electrical system failed. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk as a result of my vehicle losing power suddenly while I was driving on the highway. I was driving at the highway speed limit and my vehicle malfunctioned and lost power while others were at high speeds. I had to abruptly stop almost causing an accident. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the BMW service center. The vehicle has been inspected by the BMW dealer service department. The warning lamps that came on my dashboard were the check engine light, oil level light, and the transmission light. The car was running poorly. The engine wouldn’t crank and then it would jolt after driving. I would smell oil occasionally. The symptoms first appeared in 2011. I had my vehicle serviced at BMW regularly. In 2016 the symptoms got worse despite having my vehicle serviced for the same issue. I had the repairs done at BMW and when I drove it for the first time after getting it repaired it still failed.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

There is already a recall for the fuel injectors in vehicles like mine but my VIN number is not apart of the recall. I am having the same issues stated in the recall. Recall sib 13 01 20 which is for vehicles like mine manufactured between 04/07 and 11/08. My vehicle was manufactured in 07/07 but somehow it was not included. I have been troubleshooting an issue with the vehicle hesitating and misfiring and it is due to the fuel injectors leaking into the cylinder. I have replaced all spark plugs and ignition coils and there is evidence that the spark plugs have fuel on them due to the leaking fuel injector. When I start the vehicle it starts normally but after idling for 5 minutes it begins to misfire with white plumes of smoke exiting the exhaust. The vehicle was not driven before or warmed up before this happened. I have also had this exact same issue happen to me as I am sitting at a red light the vehicle will hesitate, misfire and a white plume of smoke comes out of the exhaust. This hesitation and misfire has also happened to me while driving in the city in motion at about 40-50mph. The car misfires/hesitates and regains power immediately. Upon inspection of the spark plugs, cylinder 3 was saturated in fuel.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2018

My vehicle has multiple codes for faulty fuel injectors. A recall campaign was initiated I n 2010 to repair these injectors. I believe the recall campaign was titled 10e-a02: replace fuel injectors. The eligiblity was listed as vehicles with production dates from 4/01/2007 to 11/30/2008. Vehicles included were BMW e90 models. I have a 2007 e90 model with a production date of 3/2007. It is peculiar that the production date did not include all vehicles in that model year. I have researched and determined that the part number on my fuel injectors were the same as the part numbers of the fuel injectors for vehicles produces in 4/2007 and for the rest of that model year. I feel my vehicle should be included in that recall, please advise. 10.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

The car has had numerous issues since purchased. This all came to a head when driving home, under normal conditions, it suddenly would not shift past 1st gear. I proceeded to pull off to a side street and attempt to idle home, as I was about 1 mile from home. After approximately . 5 mile, the transmission suddenly lost first gear, there was an audible bang under the hood, and the car completely lost power. After being in a service center for a couple weeks, I am now informed that the engine is locked down and that the car will require a new engine to be working again. This car had been an absolute nightmare and has turned me quite calloused towards Bmws quality standards.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2016

I was driving my car home from work one day and the car started loosing power and when I started the car the next day it had a rough idle I have not even had the car 6 months yet. The car now back fires and I don't know what the problem is and I just want my car fixed.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2016

I was turning on to a highway, as I accelerated to match the speed of oncoming traffic and merge, the engine power abruptly degraded. I had to swerve out of the lane to avoid an accident. The vehicle had a flashing service engine light and was not producing any power. I had the vehicle towed to park Ave. BMW in NJ. The dealer diagnosed my vehicle with a failed dme (engine management computer or ecu) at less than 60k. After doing some research I found many others BMW n54 engine owners online who had encountered the same dme failure. It turns out an electrical component that costs a couple of cents was prematurely failing. This was known to BMW in 2007 when the vehicle was being sold. The BMW service builtin si b 12 18 07 clearly indicates that this is an unexpected failure and is caused by a defective diode. Further more the issue can damage coils and fuel injectors costing thousands of dollars. Replacing coils, injectors, and the dme can exceed $5000. Further more BMW chose no to be proactive and replace the component, instead they put peoples lives at risk, at best their benefiting from their own lack of quality.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

The contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i. While at a stop light, the vehicle vibrated and the cylinders shut down. The failure caused the vehicle to decelerate. The dealer stated that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

Fuel injectors failing. Known recall exists with BMW for mfg dates between 04/02/2007 through 10/31/2008. BMW refuses to cover my car under the recall as my car was produced in late 2006. However, the piezo injector part number is the same as the part number under recall, the symptoms and resulting failure of the car is also exactly the same as documented. This is a known issue documented thoroughly online and within BMW's database. I propose BMW to extend their recall to cover all model years with this part number.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2014

Going approx. 55-60 mph, sudden no throttle response, once on the side of the road shut down then restart and drive for about 200ft then went into limp mode, stayed in limp mode until I got it to the dealership 2 days later. Tried restarting twice the following day which resulted in 3-6 sec crank time then once started it would have low throttle response with heavy vibration, after about 10 secs it would go in limp mode again with heavier chugging and vibration and eventually shutdown with 7 secs with a "choking" sound. Lack of fuel.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2014

Tl - the contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate and the engine malfunction warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel injector was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 65,000. Pm.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2014

Was traveling on i290, at about 70mph, when I needed more acceleration to pass a truck. . . The car started to shake, the engine service soon light came on, and it was flashing. The car was slowing down very quickly, I was unable to gain more speed, nor even maintain speed, I had to rush to the breakdown lane, all the way from the left lane. There was a barrier on the left lane, so parking on the left would have been too dangerous. I stopped by autozone, they scanned my car. . . The scan reported: cylinder 4,5,6 missfire. The car drove fine after I turned it off, and back on. . . But, every time I accelerate fast, the engine missfires very very bad. I would loose to a Honda civic on a race.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2013

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning with the illumination of the engine service and engine malfunction light. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the fuel injector and waste gate needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000. Rvk.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

While sitting still at the first incident the car stalled for no reason. Over the next two weeks the car started to run very rough and the service engine light would come on. You could turn it off and restart and it would be fine for a little while, now my engine light stays on all the time and my #3 injector needs replaced. BMW did recall the injectors for the 2008 models, but not my 2007, the cost is my responsibility and many other 2007 owners have had the same problem. I do. Have a BMW extended warranty for my fuel pressure regulator, not a recall, but they go bad several times a year. A recall should be extended for the 2007 injectors.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2011

While accelerating on a highway, the car lost power and started to shake. I had to pull off on the shoulder while decelerating while cars around me were honking and driving around to pass me. I was lucky not to have been in a collision. The "engine malfunction" light and "service engine soon" light turned on. After coming to a stop on the side of the road, I turned off the car for a few minutes and restarted it - it drove fine but the "service engine soon" light stayed on. It has happened many times since.
