2 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 BMW 3 Series

Failure Date: 07/24/2017

2 complaints: 1st complaint addresses "takata recall" dated Feb. 5, 2016 recall campaign no. 16v-071 driver's front air bag. Service center "otto's" in west chester, PA still has not received the parts going on 2yrs. * 2nd complaint engine shut off while driving (55mph) on a busy interstate highway during heavy traffic with no warning the engine just shut off- no power! . It was a humid summer (July) morning BMW fault could have killed many, a very dangerous public safety hazard. I was stranded for hours unable to drive BMW. *adding insult to injury the high humidity could have set-off the airbag fault unresolved by BMW 18 months & counting. Otto's service center wanted almost $4k to repair plus an additional hefty sum under advisement for repairs to repair the work they completed less than a year ago (>$3k) for engine leaking oil - car over-heating.

I was driving when my engine started to smoke and a fire happen. This happen while driving on the highway.

4 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2006 BMW 3 Series

Failure Date: 08/22/2013

Broken cylinder head bolts at the front timing cover. Symptom was oil leak at timing cover. Upon inspection, the heads of 4 bolts had sheared off and 3 bolt heads had dropped through the timing chain housing and ended up in the oil pan. First, head bolts should not fail. Second, the sheared bolt heads pass through the timing chain housing and could interfere with the timing chain and cause immediate engine failure.

5 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2006 BMW 3 Series

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

Front two valve cover bolts sheered off causing oil to leak directly on the exhaust.

6 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2006 BMW 3 Series

Failure Date: 09/20/2012

My car started having a massive oil leak at around 79,000 miles. The motor seals started to fail once the car had about 70,000 miles on it. The general consensus is that the motor seals are very common to prematurely fail. The bolts that hold the motor together started to break at around 80,000 miles.
