Passenger restraint failure warning came up on my 2007 525i. This has been a problem on previous models but after taking my vehicle into the dealership they informed me it would not be covered and would cost me roughly $2000 to repair. This is a severe safety issue as nobody can ride in the passenger seat. This should be covered with the other vehicles.

A passenger entered my car and sat in the front passenger seat. Approximately 30 seconds later, a warning came up on my dashboard about a passenger restraint malfunction. The seatbelt signal and airbag signal remained illuminated on my dashboard thereafter. . . Each time I drive my vehicle. I read an online notice from 2008 saying that BMW issued a recall for this issue, however, upon entering my VIN number on their website, they said there are no known recalls for my vehicle.

Passenger restraint system error came up two days after buying this serviced BMW at BMW of fairfax, va, pre owned dealer. This happened when the passenger sat in passenger seat for the first time and kept staying on since. In reference to this there is a recall for all 04-06 5 series for a faulty seat mat (NHTSA campaign number 08v384000) and I have also contacted NHTSA by phone, reference # 521-787. I went to the local dealer and I was told that for some reason my VIN is not included in the recall and that I should contact the manufacturer. When I contacted the manufacturer their response was the same, that my VIN is not included in the recall and that since my car is not under warranty anymore there's nothing they can do for me even after I mentioned the recall campaign associated with your investigation. When asked why my VIN was not included (since it is obvious that my car has the same faulty device) I was told that they have conducted an extensive investigation and they concluded that some cars should not be included. I don't know how they are allowed to do that since obviously there are cars with the same problem that they have excluded (I am also referring to the several other complaints filed with NHTSA for the same reason). The manufacturer should not rip off owners by charging them or forcing them to rely on expensive warranty for already heavily overpriced work that has to be done to replace faulty parts that they have put in. They shouldn't be allowed to have this loophole where they claim that not all the vins are included when it is obvious that they should be included. The manufacturer should be held responsible for faulty devices they put in the car especially when it comes to safety.
There is a recall on this vehicle for the passenger restraint system. Nhtsa action number: ea08001 the dealers are refusing to fix the problem at no costs to me and BMW north America says there is no recall on my vehicle.
My BMW 525i has a passenger restraint system warning; fault in passenger restraint system effecting airbag, belt tensioner, or belt force limiter. This has caused the airbag system in the passenger side to be permanently turned off and acknowledges faults in the restraint system. I feel this is extremely unsafe for passengers in my vehicle. A mechanic has told me there is an issue with the occupant detection mat which appears defective. I observed that there has been a recall on a similar issue with the BMW vehicle (recall id 08v38400). I attempted to contact the dealership, north scottsdale BMW and BMW costumer service but both said the recall didnt involve my vehicle even though it included the same make and model with the same issue.
Restraint system failure, the airbags on my passanger seat will not go off in case of a crash. This is a BMW factory issue. W.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 525i. The contact stated that the passenger air bag off lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a personal mechanic for diagnosis where the mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal ). The dealer and manufacturer were notified but offered no assistance and advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure and current mileages were 75,500.
I was leaving the bowing alley and noticed the restraint system malfunction light was on and it will not go off. I called the company in reference to a recall about the same problem, however, they claim that my VIN # isn't covered under the recall id # 73379 or NHTSA campaign number 08v384000. It is very disheartening to save up and buy your dream car to only have it to malfunction in a months time. I don' t have any faith or trust in the BMW company and will not recommend them to anyone. They are not loyal to their customers and fail to stand by their product. I will go back to Ford.
The restraint light came on in my car and for some unknown reason the light will not reset. I know for a fact the dealership replaced the passenger side seat cover or something while under warranty, but this started around 2010 or 2011 not sure. But just a few days ago I was told it may be under a recall status as well because the passenger seat was serviced. And the light says *passenger restraint system fault in passenger restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner, or belt force limiter. Continue to wear safety belt. But my wife and I are both concerned with this problem so is this a recall and when can it be fixed, I plan on keeping this car but really do need the BMW company to step up to the plate and back their product as one of the best, thanking you in advance. Passenger restraint system, right high beam malfunction. BMW dealership denies any responsibility while I referred them to the safety recall. They state that our BMW doesn't have any open items. How do I know that all the 2004 525's were input into the BMW database properly? I can't pay for this $1600 warrany when a safety recall was issued in 2008 (while my car was under an BMW extended warranty.
Restraint system fault in passenger-restraint system. BMW has recalled the cars with same year and model for similar problems. But my VIN is not recalled. I just called BMW but they don't want to fix it. I wish BMW acts more actively on safety issues.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 525i. The contact stated that the air bag deployed without warning while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle lost power and eventually stalled. The driver was injured as a result of the air bag deployment. The dealer diagnosed that there was a prior improper repair performed on the vehicle that contributed to the failure, but the contact stated that the prior repair was not related to the air bag. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 54,000. The VIN was unavailable.
There is a faulty restraint malfunction on the front passenger side seat. Regardless of whether or not a passenger is in the seat at all the airbag sign indicates that it is off. I am aware that this is a common problem and a malfunction in other BMW 5 series and the dealer ships that I've went to refuse to acknowledge this even though BMW headquarters released a recall for some a couple of years ago.
The contact owns a 2003 BMW 525i. While driving approximately 60 mph, the front and rear air bags on the driver side suddenly deployed. The contact noticed that the hazard lights blinked and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel after the failure. The contact pulled over and shut the vehicle off. The driver sustained injuries. A police report was made. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer but the failure could not be diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000 and the current mileage is approximately 59,000. Updated evoq 01/04/11 updated 01/14/11
the police report refused the consumers request for an accident report as the officer stated there was no damage to the consumers vehicle. Updated 04/19/11.

On September 16,2009 I was involved in an auto collision in my 2007 BMW 525i series. I was stopped at a freeway exit off the 405 s. Where suddenly a vehicle that was doing a speed of no less of 50-60 mph collided into the back drivers side passenger door which resulted me to be pushed forward at least 75-100 feet. The force and impact of the other vehicle was so severe, that is caused the other vehicle to flip over multiple times and land about 100 yards away from impact. With such an impact and the speed of the other car without hitting their breaks at all, you would think that not only the front driver, passenger, or rear passenger airbags (especially that was were the impact was) that the airbags would deploy. That is not the case. No airbags deployed and this is a major concern. I am very lucky that I only suffered injuries and not death and that goes for the passenger in the car with. I am also thankful that I did not have my 5 month old baby in the backseat. If she was is the backseat she would have not her life because no air bag deployed. I was made aware that over 200,000 BMW were recalled for models of 2005-2006. Apparently BMW has not resolved the issue for 2007 and possibly 2008 or 2009. This is a serious matter and must be looked into. Please take my email seriously and to the heart because no one should lose a life due to incompetence of a major auto manufacturer especially when there seems to be a recall to previous years and exact models. I do not believe BMW is making the necessary corrections or adjustments to this defect which may cause unnecessary injuries and/or deaths. I would like to hold BMW accountable for this issue and would like to be advised on what steps I must take for BMW to take this seriously and make things right.
Airbag and seat belt restraint icons remain on vehicle display when seat belts are engaged/fastened.
Faulty air bag system. The passenger restraint light illuminated on the dash. The consumer contacted the dealer who indicated that the first available appointment wa a month from that date.
The contact owns a 1992 BMW 525i. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, another vehicle crashed into the vehicle. The contact stated that the air bag deployed causing severe burns. The contact required medical attention for the third degree burns to her face and neck. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure was 99,000. The VIN was unavailable.
