2004 BMW 530i. Consumer states engine abruptly stopped running which in turn, shut down the power steering and power brakes the mechanic stated the oil level sensor had short-circuited internally and the sensor was installed on the same circuit as the fuel injectors, so the power to the fuel injectors was abruptly cut off and the motor failed.

3 Car Stall problem of the 2002 BMW 530

Failure Date: 02/01/2007

The contact owns a 2002 BMW 530i. While driving approximately 30 mph, a cloud of smoke was emitted from the hood and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle would not restart so it was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was told oil separator failed, resulting in a complete loss of oil. The vehicle was repaired. The failure occurred three times. After each failure, the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer to be repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 120,000.
