Engine And Engine Cooling Problems of BMW 535 - part 2

Engine blew a year ago and I had to have that replaced because the rod bearings blew at 90,000 miles. Rear differential has failed not once but 2 times. Failed the first time 11/24/2020 and after $2200 in repairs again on 01/23/2021. Nevermind also having both from cv axles replaced as well. But the rear differential failure I have been seeing on a lot of BMW's.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 BMW 535i. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, when waring message of "engine hot and drive moderately" was illuminated on the instructional panel. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and then saw smoke exiting the front passenger side of the hood. While driving at 40mph, my vehicle shifted into neutral by itself and almost caused a major accident. This happened 3 times yesterday and now I'm afraid to drive it.

I was driving home stopped at a red light , then turned green went to accelerate car took off and lost all power would not move pressing accelerator and 2 semi trucks coming real fast from cross traffic almost killed me light turned red for me and green for semi trailers with no time to exit car.

The vehicle was taken to an independant mechanic for a diagnosis and the diagnosis was a mosfire cylder # 2. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was contacted and stated the vehicle was not part of the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and directed the contact to NHTSA. The failure was 200,000 tp.

When attempting to bring vehicle up to speed on the on-ramp of the highway, the "fuel pump warning" will display on screen. This is then followed by a loss of power in the engine until the engine stops and the vehicle no longer runs. Vehicle has been towed and diagnosed as the high pressure fuel pump be technician. Technician advised me that BMW has recalled "certain" models for this problem.

For over the past year, the (small) engine light has been repeatedly & constantly going on/off. I've had sensors, spark plugs, tubes & everything under the sun replaced and have taken (or towed in most cases) the car to many different auto repair shops for multiple quotes & repairs. The latest problem is the small engine light came on & the car was stuck in park and would not engage in drive or reverse. It wouldn't shift. After turning the car off and then on again, the engine light was completely gone & the car was fine to drive/reverse. After driving the car a few blocks, the engine malfunction/reduce speed light came on, the power was drastically reduced & I almost got hit by a dump truck. In 2008, I bought my BMW brand new because I wanted no car issues because I am not a mechanic. Every since I bought this car I have had nothing but repeated & different issues that no mechanic can identify. And it all started with the high-pressure fuel pump which was replaced three times (hpfp). After the third hpfp was replaced, and the car was in the shop literally for three months straight, I got a lawyer involved and BMW corp apologized & said I could have a choice 1/ getting a different car that they picked out (a 535i not the xi I bought because of snow and ice conditions) 2/ they cut me a check for a few thousand and told me to shut up and I could never speak of what happened or be part of future lawsuits or class actions. I've never felt safe driving my 2008 BMW (116k miles on it over 12. 5 years) every BMW owner that bought a BMW between the range of years knows exactly what I am talking about the constant and never-ending issues that all start with the hpfp & escalate from there. Repair shops can't fix the issues & BMW covers up. Nhtsa hasn't done anything about this massive BMW issue affecting the vast majority of owners. Just google it!.

Car was driving fine. No noise no back fire no rattling. Got home parked car next day got in car and would not start. Took to BMW specialist. Says the car has no compression. How does an engine go just like that. Just had oil change one month ago no problems now this out of the blue.

While driving I have received engine malfunction and steering becomes hard and unsafe. Have had the engine belt shred to pieces and case major issues. Same repair has been completed multiple times. Great vehicle becoming unsafe to have on the road. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? engine malfunction, battery malfunction and yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? this put my safety at risk because I was on the expressway and the steering was hard to turn or direct. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no there were not any other messages or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. When the light came on, I pulled over in a safe place. This has happened the first time on August 20, 2019; 2nd time November 9, 2019; 3rd time March 22, 2020; 4th time January 20, 2021; 5th time June 6, 2022. This is too costly for BMW certified parts to continue to occur. The contact owns a 2008 BMW 535xi. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine misfired the vehicle was taken to the local dealer BMW of columbia located at (1900 i70 dr. Sw, columbia mo) who diagnosed that the engine cylinder number 4 misfire was due to defective fuel injectors. The fuel injectors were replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,450.

Currently having issues with a wastegate rattle on turbos. Rough engine idle. Having multiple misfires, and stuck open fuel injectors. Causing tailpipes to excessively smoke (white color) while going into limp mode could not go past 20mph and surging. Issues happen when stationary and while driving. I was driving my family and my enging cut off on and the car would not start nor go into any gear took it to my mechanic and was told that my car might be on a recall list because it jas reach over 70000mi now I don't know what to to.

I was driving 60 mph when the engine seized. The rpms fell to 0 and the steering wheel became very stiff. I pulled on the side of the road tried to start the car, nothing happened and I had to call the tow truck. None of the lights came on. Everything looked fine and very misterious. After the mechanics disassembled the engine they said that apparently cylinder number six seized. At the time when this happened, the oil was at he max level, as well as antifreeze, the temperature was normal. My mechanic assumes that it seized because of loss of pressure, which is weird because as I was told there are 2 pressure sensors in this type of engine (n55). This is very frustrating and pricey repair, which ran over $7,000. My car has 90k miles and I've been taking very good care of it. I have spoken to employees of BMW and they said that this is very common defect, which is very upsetting for this type of luxurious sedan. Shame on you BMW!!!.

The vehicle was taken to an unknown BMW dealer in columbia, south carolina where the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,900.

Our 2011 BMW 535i experienced a failure of the vanos bolts which made the car inoperable and required a $5,000 repair. Research revealed that BMW recalled approximately 165,000 cars manufactured in the same time frame as our car for the same problem and extended the warranty for many others. When we contacted BMW north America about the repair cost they would provide no information about why our car was not included in the recall/extended warranty. We would like to know which cars were recalled by BMW and better understand why our car was excluded.

Fuel pump cut out unexpectedly while driving at posted speed limit of 60 mph. Almost run over by tractor trailer while pulling car to side of the road. Car was later re-started.

The technician replaced various components on the vehicle however day after the repairs the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. As my wife was driving home, in an only ankle deep puddle inside of our subdivision, water was able to get into the air intake causing the vehicle to hydrolock and eventually destroy the engine. I believe such a small amount of water should not be able to disable a car in the middle of a rainstorm. I observed numerous other vehicles traveling thru just fine including a late model Infiniti q50.

Driving 70mph on highway 85 south. Vehicle suddenly and without warning shut off. All power lost. Power steering lost. Warning display indicated drive train malfunction. Vehicle was totally inoperable. Vehicle would not restart after shutting down on highway and had to be pushed to safety and then towed.

Fuel system. Latley I have been driving me 2011 Bmws 535i and have been having some scary problems with it. Last week I was on the highway driving 65 mph when I noticed the power of car was turning on and off. (headlights, dash lights, car power everything) it then completely shut off on the freeway. Luckily I was close to the shoulder and pulled over. Prior to this incident, my car was left at the BMW dealership in san diego for a full inspection and nothing was brought to my attention. After doing some research, I see that I am one of the thousands that are experiencing this same problem. Fuel pump and injectors gone bad. Please push for a recall!.

Tl - the contact owns a 2009 BMW 535x. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated as the reduce engine power warning message illuminated. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road, where it was turn off and resumed normal operation after restarting the engine. The contact mentioned that the vehicle had previously been repaired under a manufacturer's customer service recall however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer nor was it repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Wh.

BMW clearly states that this vehicle had a recall on the fuel injectors and related components and when the recall was completed it states that a emblem to mark completed is placed under the hood. Although, this is not on my vehicle nor does it show being completed on any type of information. BMW is very secretive about all issues on the vehicles that they manufacturer. In fact, most all BMW dealerships service departments do their very best too make you pay for non issues and will not repair what is really found to be the issue. If needed, I can give you at least two that I am very familiar with about this matter.

In passing on 2 lane highway with oncoming traffic a warning of reduced engine power occurred with corresponding reduction in engine power with significantly reduced margin of safety with respect to oncoming traffic. This is happening multiple times and has been in for repair once. Reliability is unpredictable.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 535i. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 14v176000 (engine); however, the part needed for the repair was unavailable. The dealer did not provide a specific date as to when the part would become available. The manufacturer was notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.

I received a recall notice from BMW in June 2014 re a potential bolt failure. The letter stated I would be notified when the parts would be in and when repairs can be done. When I contacted the local dealership (elmhurst BMW and BMW north America) on July 10, they said they have no idea when the parts will be in. It occurs to me that BMW may be attempting to limit their potential liability via the letter and the symptoms listed (poor gas mileage, etc. ). As a single female with this car as my only method of transportation, it is rather disconcerting and every thing this car does right now makes me nervous. BMW north America suggested I contact you with my complaint re the recall.

Again, I received a recall in the mail regarding recall 14v-176: vanos assembly bolts since June 2014 and today is sept 25th, I still havent gotten an answer as to if they have parts to replaced this recall. I called the el cajon BMW dealership in California san diego where I purchased my used BMW from and they kept on saying they dont have parts for my car yet BMW hasn't supplied them with the parts for the recall. Im concern for my safety and my family's safety and want to file a complaint for my vehicle. Please inform me of what to do? and if u can contact BMW. . . . Its been 4 months of my recall letter and I'm tired of calling them.

My 3 kids and I had left the bwm dealer after I had parts serviced/parts replaced, and jumped on the interstate. I was cruising around 70mph when I felt the car slow down and the msg "engine malfunction, reduce speed" appeared. I veered to the right a little,but I quickly found and exit and pulled over. Fortunately, the traffic on the interstate was lite and an accident was avoided, but it did get my heart racing. The dealer said this was a "common" type of msg, but I'm weary. I tried telling them about the fuel pump issue, but they said my car was not affected. They wanted to charge me another diagnostic fee and I just paid to have my car serviced and diagnosed! they also suggested I continue to drive it until the issue forces me to have to bring it in - basically until something breaks. I would have the dealer would have started with replacing the high pressure fuel pump and moving on from there since it is a documented problem. We'll see what happens.

The check engine lght came on and the car became undrivable . It was taken at the dealervfacility -new car , with 180 miles on it - for the engine issue and state emmision sticker. The car was never returned, due to engine valve failure - lose pipes at the final assy of the engine components .

Engine valve failure , diagnosed at BMW -gallery ,norwood, MA , facility . The engine valve required full replacement . The car had been qualified as " lemon car " . Could not pass the state emission test .

Ignition coil malfunction recurs after dealership repairs of the same problem. Causes engine speed to vary and be outside the drivers control.

As I was leaving the stop sign and entering the busy intersection, my engine suddenly died. The second incident happened a few days later. I was driving about 15 mph, again the engine suddenly died. We took the car to BMW encinitas for its first maintainance check and we did mention these two scary incidents. They re-assured us that everything was fine. The latest incident happened two days ago, Feb 23 ,2015. My husband was driving at about 15 mph, and again the engine suddenly died and the transmission went into neutral.
