My car suddenly shut off when I came to a stop at a red light while on a busy state route. The information cluster then began to read “fuel supply” and “battery discharge” my car would not turn back on and still has not turned back on since and it's been over a month now. According to the obd results, the fuel pump and injectors were somehow seized and therefore have caused the car to become inoperable. I was forced to spend over $1000 just to get my car out of the police tow yard and towed to my home because I could not afford the cost of the repairs needed. The nhsta website states that there is a recall on both the fuel system and the electrical system for my exact vehicle, but according to my VIN search results, there are 0 recalls. That doesn't make sense. I had just got my new inspection done maybe a month prior to my car breaking down.

Recently purchase this vehicle from BMW of greenwich. Drive it less than 200 miles - the odometer at the time of purchase had 55,000 miles, the engine looked perfect upon visual inspection. The fax report had a failed emissions inspection in the record and a second inspection days latter as apassed. I detected burnt smell coming from the engine, and immediately stopped driving it and called the vendor. The vendor has the car towed to their facility and it is there being (hopefully) repaired. I used my own computerized diagnostics tool, that showed error ho2s 12 heater control circuit specifics: engine code p0141 – 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1- sensor 2) downstream what does that mean? heated oxygen sensors contain heating elements to help them get to operating temperature quickly in order to minimize the amount of time spent before they can provide feedback to the powertrain control module. Sensor two is downstream of the catalytic converter ensures the catalytic converter is operating efficiently by monitoring the air-fuel this fault alters fuel burning and compromises the efficiency of the engine, compromising fuel efficiency . Now - there is no reason why a sensor this important be faulty, and therefore, it is my opinion that my new car could have gone in flames with me and my family inside. I have been reding on the internet that these sensors are prone to failure, what in my perspective could be part of planned obsolescence, which is an outright scam to swindle owners out of their money. If I am worng on the planned obsolescence perspective, I am certainly right of this being a very serious defect, that should be corrected immediately. I request that you investigate and request the manufacturer to recall these vehicles, as they present a grave risk to life and property. .

I was told by BMW that the high pressure fuel pump for these vehicles are under warranty for 100,000 miles or 10 years. I just purchased the vehicle to not only drive from new jersey to new york and shut down. Since then it caused an accident and the used dealer is just ignoring everything. I was also told there’s an electric water pump class action suit and also something with the trunk leaking. Now I do know that a vehicle is not supposed to be sold without recalls being stated and fixed. I’m already paid 10k for the car and then 1k for a starter . The vehicle is in the body shop having body repair due to the engine shutting down. If the engine shuts down it displays fuel pump malfunction and within 20-30 mins will start again. The BMW 535i has 96,000 miles on it and I don’t think it’s fair that I should be penolized for someone not following thru with repairs let alone having an accident on my insurance now. I’m asking please just help get the vehicle running again and all future service will absolutely be done through BMW. That’s how I handled my mercedes’ and plan so with this vehicle. I’m a single father that just took a severe beating financially and had to sell the mercedes’ and thought buying a BMW was a good choice being I had a similar issue with mercedes’ and they honored the repair due to the amount of time owned and still being in the mileage range of the defective part. Please help . Email-cfogarty80@gmail. Com cell- 917-744-5973 charles fogarty thank you in advance.
Been fixing an unknown issue due to fuel presure, loss of engine power and car gets extra hot but doesn’t over heat, I have fixed the issue more on 2 different occasions. I didn’t pass the smog text so that’s when I was told to check for any recalls, now the issues returned with same problems and probably won’t pass smog again. I have all recorded from all the years of maintenance and I’m very diligent on on time maintenance or if theirs is any kind of malfunction. I’m now addressing the situation to you as I believe that there’s something wrong that’s beyond my control. I’ve also encountered other people with same vehicle with similar issues.
While driving car stalled, dropped speed and engine warning light came on. Fuel pump was needed. Had to have car towed obtained a rental for 11 days. Fuel pump out of stock. Immediately after fuel pump was replaced less than two weeks the thermostat had to be replaced. Another tow and another rental. I need to be compensated for stress aggravation and loss of use. Repairs and car rental and tow cost over $3500.

While driving on the highway my car turned off suddenly. Car was towed to home after checking possible causes we found out that even the fuel gauge in the instruments cluster was displaying a large amount of fuel ( 1/2 tank) actually it was empty. We put two gallons of gasoline then car start up again but fuel gauge still showing half of tank.
Trying to change line go seventh miles causes the car to go in limp mode.
Car stalled suddenly while in motion on a city street. Unable to restart the vehicle for 15 - 20 minutes while blocking the roadway. Transmission locked in park mode and override to neutral gear was not available. Inability to manually put gear into neutral poses additional problems.
My BMW is a 2008 BMW 535xi that was manufactured on 02/2008. I have had an issue with cylinder 4 misfiring so I changed all 6 spark plugs and cylinder 4 ignition coil only to have cylinder misfiring still. I took it to a mechanic and they checked and stated that I had a bad ignition coil because my spark plug and ignition coil smelled like fuel. My friend is a tech at a local BMW dealership and told me not to repair it yet because BMW has issued a recall for my vehicle which is a e61 sports wagon. I will provide the document that shows that my vehicle is under the affected vehicles. When at idle my car shakes. This has been going on for about a year I just never had the money to fix it and didn't know what the issues were until now. I don't know the exact date so I will put today's date.

I was driving home stopped at a red light , then turned green went to accelerate car took off and lost all power would not move pressing accelerator and 2 semi trucks coming real fast from cross traffic almost killed me light turned red for me and green for semi trailers with no time to exit car.
Care was in motion on local street care started stalling, decrease in fuel, smoke out of tail pipe, complete engine failure, unable to start on engine. There are multiple forums on this specific vehicle with issues due to fuel injector. Since I am not the original buyer on vehicle I was not aware and was never notified by the new dealer that there would be an issue. Vehicle was bought at 126k miles in sept 2019.
My vehicle cut off while driving drive train/ drive shaft message came on which made my engine light come on shuddering with heavy shaking making weird noises which are the systems of a defected drive shaft same symptoms that apply to recall 17v067000 very scary my vehicle was just at BMW dealership for a recall due to an aggressive fuel leak. . . ,I asked about the recall for the drive train I was advised yes it's a recall but not for my vehicle which is a 2011 535i at the top of the recall list this is very dangerous and the 2nd time this car have put my life in danger how can you have a recall on the 2011 535i and then say not my specific vehicle BMW is the worst I will never purchase another BMW I cannot believe it these parts cannot be from wear and tear this starts from production of vehicle.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 535xi. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine misfired the vehicle was taken to the local dealer BMW of columbia located at (1900 i70 dr. Sw, columbia mo) who diagnosed that the engine cylinder number 4 misfire was due to defective fuel injectors. The fuel injectors were replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,450.
I check engine light comes on about something with a fuel leak and BMW says it's something to do with admissions! I would like this to be taken care of please. This is a real issue. The other issue is the electric calipers get stuck and cause a big bang when u pull out of the parking spot when you first leave. Don't happen after that. The mechanic said this was the problem cause everything else looked fine.
Fuel system was the alarm on the car and it won't stay started on more than 2 seconds. Final after 4 attempts it won't start at all. Had to get the vehicle towed.
BMW extended warranty to 10 years for the injectors. Vehicle experienced injector problems severely impacting acceleration and failing texas emissions testing. BMW then denied reimbursement. This issue is a serious safety problem and a recall should have been implemented.
Currently having issues with a wastegate rattle on turbos. Rough engine idle. Having multiple misfires, and stuck open fuel injectors. Causing tailpipes to excessively smoke (white color) while going into limp mode could not go past 20mph and surging. Issues happen when stationary and while driving. Had to get vehicle towed home. fuel injector recall 16e-a01 hpfp recall- could not find number turbo recall- could not find number.
Car stalled suddenly while in motion on a city street near a parking lot. Unable to restart blocking the roadway. Transmission locked in park mode and override to neutral gear was not available. Waited for tow truck while cars were blocked off. This could have been very dangerous if happened on a busy freeway or street. Inability to manually put gear into neutral poses additional problems.
The BMW 535i that I have has had many problems with the fuel system. All pumps have been replaced and still the car will stop running at any time. It has happened at different speeds and has caused me to get off the road and get the car towed. I have spent so far over 6,000 dollars on pumps . Now the car is back in the shop and I am told that I am staring at another big bill. This has been an on going problem for about a year and a half. BMW has given me one excuse after the other. This is very dangerous because it has happened to me in traffic at speed. Been lucky not to crash the car.
Mechanical inspection revealed a crack in intake manifold. This defect manifests itself with difficulty starting the engine during cold starts, hesitation when applying the gas pedal for rapid acceleration on highway roads. There is also a rough idle.
Hpfp is going bad engine light comes on long crank start.

2010 BMW 535xi, caught fire in engine compartment resulting in total loss of vehicle. Vehicle has only been maintained at BMW dealership, and current on all inspections, repairs, and maintenance. Fire occurred in duncan doughnuts drive through, slight smell of smoke while at drive through line. While receiving food at window less than a minute or two later, and while in park. Flames shot through hood at middle of engine compartment by windshield and rear 1/3 of the middle of the hood with intense smoke. Immediatel reaction was to put in drive and moved foreword to get away from building to get out of door as engine died, we scrambled out of vehicle. 2 employees immediately assisted with fire extinguishers, but engine compartment quickly engulfed 1st in the middle hood then left hood and eventually through the wheelwell. I have all service records, and have had all required repairs, recalls and maintenance performed exclusively at BMW dealership. This vehicle should not just catch fire and burn for no apparent reason and without and warning lights or indicators. Clearly a safety issue here that requires further investigation. I'm really lucky there were no injuries and that the car was stationary and not in my garage, or going down the highway. Glad that I was able to get the vehicle to roll away from the building far enough to prevent it from catching on fire also and causing additional property damage. This 2010 BMW 535xi has admittedly been a frequent flier at the BMW dealership. It has had the valve covers replaced, cv joint replaced, , vanos solenoid valves replaced, shaft seal replaced, rear differential replaced, coolant pump replaced, oil filter housing replaced, fuel injectors replaced twice, bulb holders replaced, side lights replaced, reprogrammed ect.
On Thursday March 30th I dropped the car off with brinsfield auto in greensboro, nc because my check engine light came on. On April 6th I picked it up with completed repairs of a cleaned #5 fuel injector that was diagnosed as running rich but after being cleaned was running correctly and check engine light was no longer an indicator. On April 8th I was driving in gastonia, nc and the car began smoking and shuddering to the point it was not drivable. I pulled into a car dealership that was closed because it was after hours and parked the car. My son and I got out of the car and noticed a very clear odor of gas. There was a couple driving through the dealership lot who stopped and also noticed the odor and agreed it was indeed fuel and I should not drive the car. It was towed back to brinsfield auto where it was discovered that the #5 fuel injector was locked in the open position and shooting straight fuel through the engine and out the exhaust pipe. This could have cause a fire had I not noticed.
While driving and then accelerating , car gives me a drive train malfunction light and then instantly losses all power and cannot accelerate anymore. Dangerous for me and everyone else on the road at highway speeds.

Vehicle's low and high pressure fuel sensors/pumps were found to be defective after bringing car in for service for "extended cranking" while stationary. After further research, it was noted that BMW 535i models from 2008-2010 had been recalled due to similar issues with high/low pressure sensors/pumps. Apparently, the same issue exists on 2011 models but no recall has yet been issued.
