43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 BMW 535

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

I drove to work and the engine light was on that morning. The car drove as normal. I was driving home from work at approximately 6:30 p. M on a busy interstate in the middle lane traveling approx. 65 mph when the car began to shake and lose power. It automatically shifted into neutral and lose power. I had to maneuver to the shoulder in heavy traffic with no power. After turning on my hazard lights, I was able to safely get to the shoulder. The car was towed home. After a few days, we were able to drive it to the repair shop (not BMW) and was initially told that sensors were bad. Replaced them and a few days later, the same engine warning light came on again. This time I was told that it was bad injectors and that the fuel is burning to rich. BMW had previously replaced 2 of the injectors about 2 years ago. The car only had approximately 35k miles at that time and needed injectors replaced. Why they only replaced 2, is incomprehensible. Thankfully, the car was under warranty at that time, unfortunately for me, it is no longer under warranty and now I have to foot the $2k bill to have them replaced. BMW should be held accountable to its owners and replace these injectors since there are so many reported problems. There is obviously an issue with the injectors. These cars are not inexpensive to purchase and it is unfair to be stuck with these high repair bills when there is a know problem and reported by so many BMW owners. First, it was my water pump, and now the fuel injectors. This is my second BMW. I previously owned the 328 and it had lifters replaced after about 8 months. I will not purchase another BMW - probably go with Lexus! shame on BMW for not taking ownership of this problem. .

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 BMW 535

Failure Date: 12/23/2014

BMW clearly states that this vehicle had a recall on the fuel injectors and related components and when the recall was completed it states that a emblem to mark completed is placed under the hood. Although, this is not on my vehicle nor does it show being completed on any type of information. BMW is very secretive about all issues on the vehicles that they manufacturer. In fact, most all BMW dealerships service departments do their very best too make you pay for non issues and will not repair what is really found to be the issue. If needed, I can give you at least two that I am very familiar with about this matter.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 BMW 535

Failure Date: 05/17/2014

I was driving my vehicle about 45 mph when instrument cluster warning lamps can on and my car lost power and stall while I was drive . Lucky I was able to avoid a crash and coast the car to safe side road until the car came to a complete stop. I tried to restart the vehicle but it will run for few seconds and die, however I wasn't able to restart my car.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 BMW 535

Failure Date: 01/31/2014

It has acceleration issues all of the time. Does not accelerate as it should, instead it jerks. When at a stop sign or light and looking to accelerate it would jerk making it unsafe. I have almost hit multiple vehicle ecause of this.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 BMW 535

Failure Date: 05/23/2013

While driving on the highway, the car indicated an engine malfunction and within seconds the message changed to engine overheating and that engine is operating at reduced output. It also advised to stop the car immediately and call the nearest BMW dealer. I had the car towed to a BMW dealer and they identified issue as a failed waterpump. The water pump was replaced for about $1,400. 3 months later, a similar issue occurred where engine was having issues and the message said that the engine is operating at reduced speed but that it is safe to continue. Took the car back to dealer and they could not find any issues; but just to be safe (whatever that means) they reprogrammed the battery and the bill was $126. Again, with no specific issue identified or resolved.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 BMW 535

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

In the 4 1/2 years that my 535xi has been in service, the fuel injectors have needed to be replaced 3 times (sept 2011, Jan 2013, and sept 2014). The problems have manifested themselves when driving on highways and the vehicle loses most power and begins shaking and the check engine gases light comes on. The most recent time occurred while on an interstate tollway between exits 15 miles apart making for a dangerous situation as I lost speed and any ability to accelerate. Efforts to have BMW cover the repairs (estimated at $2,200 including new plugs), were both unsuccessful and frustrating. The dealer provided zero assistance. I contacted BMW na and stated that having to replace the fuel injectors 3 times in 4 1/2 years indicates a defective design and results in dangerous situations. I was told that they would investigate and inform me whether the repairs would be covered. They said they would notify me within 3-5 business days although they would try to expedite the process since I was without a car. At the end of the 5th business day, there was no response so I called and the person I needed to speak with was in a meeting and was supposed to call me back. After another full business day and no call, I called a again and was told that there was no coverage but they did not provide any rationale. This has been a repetitive and dangerous problem.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 BMW 535

Failure Date: 01/12/2013

On January 12, 2013, while driving with my family on a southern California highway at speeds of roughly 70 mph, our 2010 BMW 535i sedan, suddenly lost power, stalled, could not accelerate, and became difficult to control as I crossed 3 lanes of traffic; surprisingly guided the vehicle safely to the right shoulder. At the time the vehicle lost power, a warning indicator light displayed, "engine malfunction-reduced power. " as a result, it required a tow service to a local BMW dealership.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 BMW 535

Failure Date: 01/04/2013

Smell of gas fumes in car when started car. Gas and fumes increased as car idled. Infant also in car. Began feeling lightheaded so had to roll down windows to make it home. Tl- the contact owns a 2010 BMW 535i. The contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently then the check engine warning light illuminated. 52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 BMW 535

Failure Date: 08/23/2012

I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden when I tried to switch lanes, the car just made a big fumble and almost stalled. The traffic behind nearly became fatal as the car did not accelerate and I was very luck to have pulled back with the passing car barely hitting my mirror. I have taken this car to the dealer on many occasions and they have changed out all the injectors and still the car is having this problem. Every time I go to the dealer they keep changing the fuel injectors or recalibrating them. A simple google search will show that this is an on going issue with these cars and BMW of north America does not want to do anything about it. Even though this was reported before the end of the manufacturer's warranty and still ongoing, they refuse to cover the repairs. This is absurd and they should be held responsible as my family and my life is in danger every time we take to any road with this car. We are not in a financial position to afford repairs as it is very expensive and unfortunately we are forced to take a risk every time we have somewhere to go. My pregnant wife and my self has missed almost 20 times where another car could have hit us. I fear one of these days we will not be so lucky . Please help.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 BMW 535

Failure Date: 04/26/2011

While driving, the entire electrical panel [speedometer, radio, display screen, etc. ] begin to click on/off each time reappearing with appeared to be everything but english. Soon to follow, I received a warning light indicating "engine overheated", "engine power was being reduced", and "to stop the vehicle" when possible. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of traffic and could not immediately pull off to the shoulder. The vehicle didn't travel very far before complete engine power was lost due to the possibility of "fire risk" as indicated on the panel.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 BMW 535
