BMW 750 owners have reported 1 problem related to gas tank strap (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was exiting off ramp on interstate. Applied brakes to slow down, left drivers side, side impact airbag and head restraint airbag deployed without warning. I did not contact anything on road or around car. I was blown out of my shoulder strap on seat belt from left side, striking my head and left arm violently. I had my left arm on armrest and it received major impact ,while I received multiple injuries to my head ,neck, left ear and back. Upon pulling car over to side of road, the gas tank had also ruptured for unknown reasons at the same time. Complete inspection of vehicle and under body revealed no impact from debris around tank or on body of car,as gas tank is covered by a belly pan for protection of tank. This vehicle almost caused severe injury or death to myself. I did not have any warning of any kind. No service vehicle lights were illuminated. Airbag also caused major damage to interior and windshield. BMW owners manual states airbag deployment should only happen in major impact, for which there was no impact of any kind. There was a major malfunction of vehicle to say the least,I am just thankful to be alive ,as car could have caught fire,I was able to maintain control on road and pull vehicle over upon escaping vehicle ,I ran away as I smelled gas.
