To whom it may concern: the front passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor mat has failed on my vehicle. This means the passenger side airbag is not active. It has been recalled in the past by BMW multiple times, 17v605 and 17v428, but my vehicle was not included. However, this appears to still be an issue.

Takata recall (this is more of a concern and request for help rather than an incident. I was directed to this website by the recall notice. No other instructions other than the url were given) I live on galveston island in texas, south of houston. It is one of the hottest, most humid places in the us. My passenger side airbag was recalled in March of 2017. Despite repeated requests to BMW, they still will not replace the recalled airbag. I am concerned because in April 2016, not far from where I live, a 17 year old girl was killed by shrapnel from her airbag in a crash that she otherwise would have walked away from.

Takata recall: it will be a year here shortly since the recall was issued and this airbag is not replaced. I know that BMW came up with another airbag for replacement of my drivers side airbag after I complained. There must be someway to fix this severe safety hazard. . I do not want anyone in my car front passenger seat to die because of this. Fyi the recall was issued in may 2016 I was not sent a notice until July 2016, poor notification. I am sure this length of time qualifies as a failure to fix in reasonable length of time.

Takata recall :I was told it could take up to a year to replace the defect in my driver's side air bag. I am not comfortable driving my car knowing there is a risk of serious damage or death if the bag deploys. I take xarelto (blood thinner) and purchased this SUV to feel safer when driving. I am a realtor and use my car everyday and often times with clients of mine in the car. The dealership stated they are not selling anymore of these cars with the defects until they are corrected yet I am driving one which has not been corrected. They stated they will give me a $35 a day allowance to rent but again that will only get me a compact car and nothing close to a comparable. Why am I spending $1009 a month for my X5 to dive a Ford focus. It makes no sense. I would like a remedy to my situation immediately. This issue is/will impact my business if I can not drive my car. If I don't get a resolution I will get my attorney involved.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 BMW X5. The contact received notification for NHTSA campaign number: 16v364000 (air bags). The dealer indicated that they replaced the parts with the same part as an interim repair for NHTSA campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags). The contact expected the manufacturer to supply the replacement parts for the recall to the dealer. The contact was uncertain as to when the manufacturer would supply the replacement parts for the recall and the parts for the passenger side air bag recall. The manufacturer was contacted to determine when the remedy replacement parts would be supplied for both recall repairs. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I received notice of the driver's side airbag recall in March of 2016, and just learned that the passenger's side airbag was recalled in may of 2016. All efforts to learn status of parts availability have gone unrespondeded to. I bought this car as a result of the representations which were made to me by BMW and their agents regarding the car's safety and reliability. Knowing that there is not a date in sight to perform the repairs necessary to correct this unreasonably dangerous condition, I have attempted to trade my vehicle in and purchase a replacement vehicle. Two dealers have informed me that they cannot accept the trade-in because of the recalls. This is totally unacceptable. I am stuck with a vehicle which has been deemed to be unreasonably dangerous for the foreseeable future. The economic consequences of this defect should fall on the manufacturer and not the consumer.
Driver side airbag recall in February and we still have not received the part. 6 months is unacceptable when it comes to the safety of myself and my family.
Takata recall - I received the first recall letter 11 months ago for the driver side airbag and the 2nd recall for the passenger side in may of 2016. I am still being told there is no resolution as of yet. This problem has gone on way to long and my safety is at risk. I am unable to sell the car due to this open recall and need resolution ASAP.
There has been a recall on the driver side air bag since 2/5/2016 and the passenger's side air bag since 5/25/2016. When I contact BMW they have no information on when this will be repaired, and I am now reluctant to drive the car.

My 2006 X5 BMW 4. 4i has recently experienced a failure in the passenger side airbag sensor which fails to identify a passenger in the front passenger seat and thus does not activate the passenger side airbag.
Defect in the driver side airbag sensor.
While driving our 2004 BMW X5 a person ran a stop sign and hit me in the driver's side door, the impact was so hard my SUV was pushed into another lane and the front left tire was "blown out". The driver's side door had to be replaced due to structural damage but airbag never deployed. I have sustained a cervical and a thoracic spine injury (herniated discs) and continue to be under medical treatment for the past 10 months. In December I had to stop working as a result of the accident. Maybe if the airbag worked properly I would not have been so severly injured.

The consumer parked and turn the vehicle off. After exiting the vehicle the consumer turned around and noticed smoking coming from the steering wheel. The consumer then re-enter the vehicle and the driver's side air bag deployed. This resulted in the consumer having a contusion, eye abrasion and 2 disc in their neck.
Vehicle was "totaled" due to a collision, by another vehicle on passenger's side of consumer's car. Consumer's vehicle was traveling approximately 40-50mph at time of impact. Passenger "side air bag" did not deploy. However, the driver's front, side and passenger front air bags did deploy.
Consumer states that had order vehicle with back and side air bags and the air bags came disconnected. Nlm.
