The contact owns a 2013 BMW Z4. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, the vehicle failed to reverse without warning upon depression of the accelerator pedal while in the reverse(r) position. A police report was not filed. Despite the failure, the vehicle was able driven to the contact's home but was later towed to a dealer. The contact was informed by the dealer that the manufacturer would be sending an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer later informed the contact that no fault codes were found on the vehicle; the contact disputed the investigator's finding. The vehicle had yet to be reparied and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 52,954.

The airbag sensor in my passenger seat has failed. I have been quoted approximately $2000 to repair this. The automatic emergency did not engage the brakes as described to by the dealer, BMW genius and the BMW website. The car was in a collision at low speed (under 35mph) with the car in front of me which put me at risk. BMW sent an engineer from n. J. To inspect the car. The is under warranty and it was in perfect working order. The engineer determined that the system did not engage because the accelerator was depressed, I was told that the system does not work when the accelerator is depressed but that is not how the system is advertised and it is not how it was described in all of the BMW marketing materials.

The contact owns a 2014 BMW Z4. The contact stated that rodents had chewed through some electrical wiring in the vehicle. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact was unable to monitor the oil levels due to the damaged electrical wiring. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on several occasions, where it was determined that the electrical wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The contact was informed about other methods to deter the varmints from chewing on the electrical wiring. The contact called an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure had occurred on several types of vehicles. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no additional assistance. They called back and told the contact that the control unit and air module were not covered under the warranty. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer has not been contacted. On July 2018 BMW issued an important limited warranty information notice related to this vehicle. BMW would cover repairs to the front passenger seat occupancy for the srs/air bag system. Unfortunately this warranty repair will not cover my vehicle because the 15 year period does not include my vehicle that was put into service in January 2003. I believe that BMW should cover any 2003 BMW Z4 rather than cutting off those made in the prior 6 months. BMW refuses to cover. The other concern I have relates to the servo motor/electronic steering control unit. Recently this failed and I note that other Bmws have had this problem too. I believe your agency should determine whether or not this warrants a recall too. It is very dangerous to be driving and the power steering ceases to function. People will be killed. In my case the vehicle had been in the shop for unrelated repairs and when I picked it up the power steering was out. The shop had noticed the steering seemed tight and told me the unit needed to be replaced at a cost of $4,000. I was able to drive the vehicle home without incident. I had the battery replaced and the steering is back to normal. Research on the web indicated this is something that has happened with numerous other Bmws.

On August 1 of this year I received a letter from BMW stating that there was a problem with the front passenger seat occupancy mat(oc3) for the supplemental restraint system (srs/air bag system) . I made an appointment for the following week and when I got to the dealership they told me my extended warranty had run out in March of this year. When I called BMW of north America I was told the only way to get it fixed is at my expense. Over the next 2 days I spoke to them 3 different times and they would not pay to fix a safety problem that was in the vehicle when it came off the factory floor.

Passenger airbag module seems to be defected.

My car had approximately 65k miles on it when the light on the dashboard indicated an issue. It was manufactured in 08/06. Reading from the computer indicated a passenger occupancy mat failure. BMW extended the warranty for 10 years through model year 05 but won't do anything for 2006. I called BMW USA and escalated it. They called me back and stated it will not be covered. I am concerned that this may prevent the airbag from operating in case of a collision for the passenger. There are many complaints about the 2006 model occupancy mat with this my and I think BMW should be forced to cover this safety hazard. The car was purchased from BMW dealer as a pre-owned certified car under full warranty. The dealer would not address repairs under the current recalls. Light indicating passenger airbag was disabled began coming on while passenger in the seat. Within a few weeks of noticing this, passenger airbag always indicates off. Many 08 models were recalled for passenger airbag mat failures, but not the Z4 (too few cars made?) I called BMW-USA and a case agent called me back. BMW would take no responsibility for the failure.

Passenger air bag exploded and busted wind shield.

Vhicle was parked on the lot someone heard a loud pop noise and noticed smoke coming from interior of vehicle, found passenger side dash air bag had been deployed this vehicle was parked and locked with keys inside the building.

Passenger's airbag indication light is malfunctioned. The indication light of passenger's airbag shows always off. Therefore it can't tell the airbag is on or off.

On August 7, 2007 I took my car to sterling BMW in newport beach, CA because I noticed the airbag malfunction lights were on along with other electrical issues. After they had inspected my vehicle for three days I was informed that the airbag/electrical problem would not be covered by the BMW factory warranty, and the service department recommended that I file a claim with my insurance carrier. Obviously my insurance company denied the claim, because automobile insurance does not cover loss due to wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdown/failure. In addition, sterling BMW charged me $260. 00 for the loaner car they provided for the three days while my car was being inspected. Sterling BMW gave me a verbal estimate of approximately $10,000. 00 in additional work needed to repair all the electrical/airbag issues. When I took the car to irvine BMW for another estimate, they advised me that they could take care of the problem, however after three days I was again informed that they the airbag/electrical problem would not be covered under the warranty. I moved to California about one year ago and purchased this vehicle on from excalibur imports in studio city, CA on March 28, 2006. Although my previous vehicle was a Mercedes Benz, I decided to purchase a BMW and benefit from the extraordinary customer service of BMW. This is, in fact, my first experience with BMW. I have always taken excellent care of my car; it has always been garaged, and maintained by BMW dealers. I have always use premium gas to ensure quality of performance and maintenance. To my regret, I have been driving this car for over a year without airbag protection. The nature of my job requires me to commute over 100 miles per day on the freeway. Please be advised that my family and I are extremely worried about the risks that I am taking because of BMW's failure to properly maintain my vehicle. I am a single mother of three and find I am now afraid of driving because of the consequences of an acid.

From day one I had airbag problem for the passenger side. Air bag never worked. BMW had recall and extended warranty for 10 years, but they don't accept responsibility steering column has problems too.
