Headlights Problems of Buick Century - part 2

Both headlight covers which came as clear plastic have developed a film in side of them which the dealer does not want to try to remove as he would have to break the seal. The problem has been getting slowly worse and is somewhat restricting the headlighs ability to let light pass through. Replacement cost at $288. Oo each would be $604. 80 including tax. A little steep for two pieces of plastic. Anyway I thought you might be interested. Thanks.

While traveling on highway and without prior warning, headlights go out intermittently. Dealership is aware of problem. Consumer is now experiencing a problem with the dash lights intermittently going out.

Headlights don't sufficiently illuminate. This causes an extremely poor visibilty at night, and in rainy conditions. Dealer has adjusted headlights which did not correct the problem.

Headlights are so dim that vehicle is no longer driven at night. Dealer has tried adjusting headlights 6 times, and each time problem gets worse please provide more information.

Moisture is entering right headlight, causing moisture build up on lens. Thus, reducing visibility.

The headlamp assembly has water condensation (water droplets) forming on the inside of the headlight assembly (if it rains for consecutive days) causing lower visabilty at night. It looks like it is a chronic problem, because my friends 2000 Buick Century has water residue marks on the inside of the headlight assembly.

Water condensation always builds up on the inside of the headlight assembly after it rains, the dealership cliams that this is a normal occurrence and is not a problem. The problem is that this degrades the lighting intensity at night. This is a defective design because it also happens to my friends 2000 Buick Century. It can be vaildated by looking for watermarks on the inside of the headlight assembly.

While driving up to a hill vehicle accelerated about 50 mph with headlights on. Then, they will go out without a warning.

Headlight lens developed a cloudy film. This reduced the light illumination, and resulted in poor visibility. The lens could not be cleaned. The consumer believes the design of the lens is poor because it does not allow the consumer to clean the inside of the lens.

My headlights are not effective. They have too narrow a beam, especially in the vertical axis.

Low beam head lights being used at 30 mph in a unlighted road or street are unsafe. Dealer / manufacturer notified, and informed consume rthat nothing could be done and they meet the fmvss. Can NHTSA help or provide additional information in this matter.

Head lights were repaired due to failure, after repairs were done, other parts began to malfucntion.

Consumer was waiting on an insert to be sent to her per the recall notice, dealer refuses to perform recall 98v-102 because vehicle is no longer under warranty and they want the consumer to pay for inspection and adjustment. Nlm.

Low bean from the head lights does not provide sufficient lighting, the light does not shine 50 feet in front of vehicle causing poor visibility. .

Headlights are not bright enough which causes visual difficulty, and may result in a crash. Dealer cannot determine the cause. Please provide further information.

Received notice 99v356000 & contacted dealer. Took vehicle for repairs of headlights. Afterwards, headlights failed to work properly. Recall remedy had failed. Contacted &andspoke to tammy & rob at GMC, but they were of no help.

Head light is poorly distributed on road and has hunge dark spots directly in the path of the vehicle. Also it does not provide enough light to safely make a turn into drive way.

The recall repair (99v-356) did not rectify the head light illumination problem, consumer is still having difficulty with visibility.

Driver cannot see road unless the vehicle's high beams are on. Low beams do not function properly. Dealer has tried to adjust the vehicle's headlights, but problem still exists.

Lights are too dim to drive at night going 55 mph.

Daytime running lights are yellow/amber in color causing confusion when driving.

The design of the headlight system is flawed because the low beam does not work properly, instead of lighting the road ahead fully the light spreads only to the side end of the front fender on both sides resulting in poor visibility. Nlm.

Low beam light casts a shadow on both sides when used, causing poor visibility. Dealer notified,and unable to locate cause. The consumer states that the head light system was flawed and damages.

Owner is having difficulties driving at night due to problems of headlights illuminating at improper angle as noted by recall 01v286000. ; no service by dealership was being rendered.
