When I have cruise control on but not in use at that moment the car will engage cruise on its own. It does this at a high rate of acceleration with no rhyme or reason as to why. I have to be quick to get it to stop because of the high rate of speed. I do not use the cruise control anymore on my vehicle because of being unsafe. I have been lucky a couple of times I have not rammed into the vehicle in front of me through no fault of mine except for having cruise control on. No it has not been examined or inspected. The problem has not been confirmed by the dealership or and independent service center. It has been confirmed by various drivers of my car. None of them will use cruise control anymore.

Turned on speed control while driving on interstate, pressed set button to set the speed. The cruise indicator light came on. The car accelerated on its own. My speed went from 65 mph to 80 mph in a few seconds. I depressed the set button again to decelerate, but when I released the set button, the car immediately accelerated again. I depressed the brake to stop the acceleration & turned the speed control switch to the off position.

Tire feels like it doesnt want to spin. No grip.
When driving the car increase speed without touching the pedal will keep increasing speed slightly making you hit brakes or pull over. I restart the car and sometimes this will stop it sometimes not. It is getting worse and I have had it to a dealer with no finding. I have contacted Buick through email and have not heard anything yet. The car will do this even in the city at speeds of 30 mph we have to brake or it will go faster and faster. I have contacted all I know to and cannot find what is going on. I need some assistance before there is an accident.
The car will speed up on its own while the foot is off the pedal. Also, when I have my foot on the break at a light, the car will start reeving up as if I had my foot on both break and accelerator. I have taken the car to different mechanics to get the problem fixed to no avail. What could these be? I am afraid that one day I will get in an accident do to this problem.

My 2002 Buick Century odometer is over recording miles by 4%. After taking my car to the Buick dealer two times I am informed that gm responded that there are no federal regulations regarding the accuracy of an odometer. Buick (g. M. ) responded that 4% error is acceptable to them. I have a copy of the g. M. Response to the dealer(g. M. Document id#1216409---service vme-odometer accuracy, #pi00746-(12/24/2002). When I file my federal tax return-form 2106 business expense since I travel 40,000 miles a year I would be over reporting 1. 600 miles at a 4% rate. Is there a federal regulation regarding the accuracy of an odometer. I am able to find state and federal regulations regarding fraud and roll-back of an odometer but nothing regarding the accuracy. This would also have an effect on the regulated fuel mpg requirements. Any published mpg would need to be reduced by 4%.
When putting vehicle into reverse on a deep incline it surged forward, dealer has inspected vehicle, and could not duplicate the problem, manufacturer will be notified.

Application of brakes resulted in spontaneous racing of engine, both front and rear wheels jumped curb in spite of hard braking. Car stopped prior to entering freeway.
I pulled into a parking space & was just ready to complete brake and turn off engine when my car lunged forward as though the gas was floored. It was so fast I could do nothing! the car went barreling down the side of the building scraping the wall & only stopped when it hit a parked car. This car did this all on it's own. Now I am afraid to drive it when it gets out of repair (giuffre Buick). They said they have never heard of such a thing but I found a complaint just like it on your site.
When driving at any speed, and consumer takes foot off accelerator and the brake, the vehicle would start rolling backwards real fast.
While at a stop on a land decline vehicle will roll back when accelerating which may cause an accident. Dealer said it the characteristic of the vehicle.
When trying to accelerate passed another vehicle. It would suddenly decelerate. Later, acceleration would kick in. This happens when weather is wet or dry. An intermittent problem that occurred twice. Had mechanic check it out & nothing was found.
Engine surges or stalls intermittently.
When braking from speeds of 30 mph vehicle accelerated with no known cause. Vehicle was towed to doan Buick, westridge road, rochester NY. Dealership has not diagnosed the failure as of yet. Please describe details.
