On 6/7/2017 purchased a 2010 Buick Enclave cxl 116495 miles on it needs steering gear 1700. 00 is the power steering pump wear the cause of the gear leaking.
Engine light came on and took into dealership for a diagnosis of issue. Was told that the timing chain had stretched and needed replaced with a cost estimate of $3000. This is the 2nd time that this has happened, the first being at 48k miles, and now at 95k miles. When the repair was being made, was told that the crank shaft was warped and had frayed the engine internally - caused by the bad timing chain and I now needed a new engine. Contacted Buick, but they would not do anything about it. Buick has known about this issue for years, and yet refuses to back their product or help their customers. Once the engine was replaced, I now have a loud power steering 'whine' and was told that the power steering pump needs replaced - another known issue by Buick. Just incredible.
Car had reduced speed and white smoke 11/15 41,000 miles towed to dealership and they replaced number 5 injector car. 2/4/17 car has 49,584 miles and had to he towed again to dealership same issue reduced speed white smoke, was told all 6 injectors need to be replaced, water pump, timing cover, steering gear and timing belt. This car has too many issues to have such few miles. I did call several other garages to see if they could give estimate as I don't trust dealership, they will not work on the Enclave motors. There are also too many recalls in my opinion on this vehicle. After reading all the complaints there is a problem with the steering on this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. While turning the vehicle at a low speed, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.
Check engine light went on. Car was seemingly working alright, however, after fueling up, it was difficult to restart the car. In fact, at the last fill up I was unable to start the car for over 20 minutes while at the gas pump. This caused a great deal of anger, frustration, and rage in the other drivers who were waiting to fuel their cars at very busy gas station near lax. The dealership stated the fuel sensors needed to be replaced at a total cost of $1700. 00. Two months prior the air conditioner/heater required repair as a hose needed to be replaced due to a leak, a $425 repair, furthermore, the steering problem we seemingly had corrected 3 years ago is occurring again and is need of another repair. And lastly, 50% of the time when I turn off the engine and pull the key out of the car, the engine continues to run. The occurred around 80-85,000 miles.
Power steering defect causing safety issue. Vehicle has 75000 miles on it and power steering locks becomes unresponsive, dealer indicates that pump and rack need to be replaced and that it is normal for these parts to wear out at this number of miles. This is a safety issue and should become a recall by gm.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the steering pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.
Power steering goes out at low speeds, very hard to turn. Dealer says we need new power steering pump & rack, as both are leaking. Not covered under warranty.
I noticed this problem back in January and it has been more noticeable and bothersome lately. It is hard to make turns in my Buick Enclave when turning at slow speeds (25 mph or less). It is also very hard to turn and park or back out and turn. That really scares me because you have to really fight with it. It is as if there is no power steering yet it has power steering fluid. I have taken my car in for two other recalls and was told it was the power steering pump, or it could be other parts related to the power steering. This could be a very dangerous situation hopefully it won't happen while I am driving at a high speed with my 5 grand children. I called gm and they have no intentions of correcting this problem so the consumers who pay for a high priced car expecting it to last will now have to come out pocket $1500 to repair the problem. This is ridiculous. If they don't repair this problem I will never buy another gm product. I now own 4 and all 4 have had recalls.
When driving at low speed, the power steeting goes out. It requires me to completely stop and manually turn the wheel which is very difficult. There is continue knocking at any speed when making turns. This has been a continual problem for almost 6 months and is getting worse. The car is out of warranty, but after reviewing further online, there is a pending class action suit for this issue. I called gm direct and they said they have received this complaint several times but there are no recalls. As a mother of small children, I am afraid to continue to drive my car for fear of wrecking or being hit with this issue. It is sad that gm will not act on this issue and stand behind their vehicles. If there has been numerous complaints and a class action suit, why will gm not act upon this. Does there have to be more deaths occur to get their attention. The cost of replacing the steering rack and pump is very expensive and should not be at the cost of the consumer for a manufacturer defect. Extremely dissappointed.
The steering wheel often but not always locks up when driving at low speeds and making sharp turns, for example at a stop sign or making a u turn at a traffic light. It does not matter whether a right or left turn is being made. It takes significant force to turn the wheel to "unstuck" the steering wheel and make the car go in the intended direction, and immediate brake force is often required to avoid hitting a curb or another car that expected me to complete the turn. I took the vehicle to a Buick dealer this week and they supposedly isolated the problem to the steering pump (part 20954812) and steering gear (part 22902260), for a total of $2000 to repair. I believe this to be a safety concern because I have no confidence in my car's ability to go in the direction I intend.
Steering has always made a noise like corduroy pants rubbing together and has progressively become more lacks. Also the steering becomes hard to turn at low speeds like turning into a parking spot or making a left hand turn from a stop and requires a lot of effort to turn the vehicle. This could be a very dangerous situation and could cause an accident. I have taken my vehicle to the dealer and they of course replaced the steering rack for 1300 dollars and it did not fix the turning issue. I have to bring it back and I am sure it will need a new steering pump. Help. I have read about this issue online and it seems to be a very common problem with this vehicle. We know three other families with this car and they have all had the steering rack and power steering pump replaced. I think gm should stand behind their vehicles. I have 57,000 miles on my vehicle and of course it is out of warranty. Help!.
Went to turn left from a slow coast off of a two lane road into a parking lot with traffic coming from opposite direction. The steering got really tight and I needed maximum force from my arms to turn the wheel to get the car out of the way of an oncoming vehicle that had to quickly apply brakes to avoid hitting me. I had just got two new tires when the event occurred and spent the next 10 months with two more tires thinking the tire store had messed up the steering . They looked it over twice and couldn't find any issues. The steering became so the tightness was felt mostly getting into parking spaces at slow speeds. Then, I almost hit a parked car the first week of June when turning left again from not being able to turn the wheel, so I took it to the dealer where they diagnosed a failed steering pump and a leak in the steering rack. GMC paid for the parts and I paid $700. 00 for the labor.
I lost my steering with only 400 miles the first time. The power steering pump was replaced. The second time the mileage was 6404 the rack was replaced. The first incident was in florida the second was in new york.
