Purchased new, dealer twice during warranty kept vehicle for 6 weeks to do recall notice repairs. Now this 2010 has 42,000 miles and the steering is going bad. Sb10056459-3388 describes the exact problem. During these two periods that recall repairs were done that should have addressed the problem even though the problem had not surfaced yet. This was a wear condition I was never informed of. It is getting worse now.
When slowing down, steering gets hard to turn.
While decelerating the power steering randomly goes out. I'm having the vehicle checked out for a second time. I have recently done the research and this seems to be a very common problem in 2010 Buick Enclaves and GMC has yet to make a recall. This could definitely be very dangerous if decelerating and making turns on highway and power steering just goes out. Hopefully no one has to die for GMC to admit faulty steering.
I am writing because we purchased a 2010 Buick Enclave in 2018. Immediately after purchasing I noticed issues with the vehicle and it had to be serviced twice within a couple weeks of having it. At the time the service dept. Could not diagnose the issue and blamed it on my accidently touching the manual shift on the shaft. I knew I was not doing this. I have video of the car doing this weird acceleration and all during the last couple of years but vander hey kept saying the vehicle was fine. Well, I was stranded because it just stopped a few days ago and had to take a 50. 00 uber home. I have had to uber 3 times now and purchased a code reader. The code comes back as a timing chain stretched. It seems what I was feeling from the very beginning was in fact this issue. I am not happy about this. I have had to rent vehicles for the last 3 days and will have to have the vehicle towed back to my home tomorrow. Since this issue was brought to your attention from day one I expect it to be repaired at no cost to me and some of the charges I have accumulated be reimbursed. This is not just! I will be looking into the lemon law and if it applies to me. I am hoping your company takes responsibility. Had they paid attention to what I was saying and all then this would never have happened,. The stress and issues this has caused goes so much deeper than this the code that comes back is p0008. The crank shaft. I have read numerous reviews on this and will continue to carry this on. Furthermore the fact that there are recent issues with the power steering as well.
The power steering has issues when turning it seems to not work. Been have this problem for about a year. I’ve talked to other Buick owners and they have the same problem. I also have electrical issues on the drivers side door panel, where none of the switches work. Just all of a sudden quit.
I recently just purchased my vehicle with 145,000 miles when I noticed that my steering wheel locks during turns. It becomes very hard and dangerous to turn. I have to turn very slow which is dangerous can could cause an accident. I have read that this is a very common issue with this vehicle and that it needs to be recalled hopefully we can find a way to fix this.
11 months after I bought my Buick the engine went out the dealer said it was nothing to do with me the replacement used all my warranty. And there has been one after another problem. My steering wheel locks during turns almost had some real serious finder benders. It's throwing p420 code for bank 2 and now have no sound at all everything works but no blinkers, hazard, seatbelt, backup warning sounds at all with no radio .
Numerous times at highway speed merging on and off ramps into traffic the power steering goes out causing me to apply more upper arm strength to merge and then the power steering comes back on causing me to jerk the vehicle into traffic almost causing me to hit vehicles in farthest lane.
At slow speeds the power steering goes in and out intermittently. The loss of power steering is only for a second or two but the sensation seems to be dangerous if the steering function did not return instantly. This loss of power steering is identical to the power steering loss that is the subject of a current GMC sierra truck recall.
The steering becomes hard to turn when moving very slowly or sitting in park. This happens intermittently in urban settings. No problem observed at highway speed as yet. Will be taking to mechanic shortly.
Power keeps going our intermittently during slow speeds. . . For example with stopped and going to make a turn or u-turn. . . Or while in a parking lot. It will go out for a few seconds. . . Or less then kick back in. I have seen multiple postings about others who have experienced the same problems with Enclave and traverse (chevy) in the same year sets. I was on a city street when the most noticeable occurrence happened, making a u-turn from a complete stop when I could barely turn my steering wheel to complete the turn.
Steering wheel seems to lock when we turn the wheel, which makes it difficult to turn to the right or left very dangerous when making turns while driving. Has happened numerous times.
Power steering randomly stops working, usually on lower rpms but sometimes just randomly stops working no matter what rpms. Power steering fluid is full.
Steering: seems vague when in motion at highway speed. Other: rear tailgate opens while driving, sitting still w/o the key in the ignition. Contacted gm and customer service told me it was my problem not theirs. Engine: sounds like a meatgrinder on cold start up, if the engine fails will loose steering, brakes and possibly control of the vehicle.
Lots of information that Buick should send out a recall regarding the steering rack leaks this car gets. Mechanic claimed I had steering leaks, I hardly drive this car.
Power steering has intermittent failure at low speed.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult when making turns. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,731. Aw.
Power steering locks up while driving. Clunking noise from front drivers side wheel. Unstable steering and handling while driving especially at speeds above 40mph. Large amounts of oil leaking into and collecting in throttle body and air intake. After two timing chain replacements vehicle has rough idle, stalls intermittently.
Mileage 85,717: driving on interstate at 70 mph vehicle lost power, was luckily able to pull off and restart to make it home. Next morning vehicle would start, but immediately shut off. Towed vehicle to local mechanic who stated it was stretched timing chain, common occurrence in Enclave, arcadia, and transverse. Reported issue to gm who referred me to certified gm dealer, vehicle was towed to that location at my expense, sat there for a week before I received any info which was stretched timing chain, already known information. I called gm back who stated they my case had already been closed out for power lift gates and there was no documentation for the stretched timing chain, after 1 hour and 25 minutes on the phone I was told that there was no assistance for the timing chain that I would be responsible for the $2000 repair bill along with $105 for the diagnostic test. At this point beyond frustrated with vehicle and gm, the arcadia and transverse have had their powertrain warranty extended why has this not happened for the Enclave?.
When I turn the wheel at slow speeds it randomly locks up. Almost got hit making a u turn in washington DC. I was going less that 10 mph. This is happening regularly while parking and turning after stoping. It has already almost caused an accident.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. While driving approximately 20 mph and attempting to turn, the steering lost power without warning. The failure began right after a front end alignment service was performed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed a steering issue, but did not repair the vehicle. The contact was informed that there may be a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
Loss of,power steering when turning at low speed, especially to the left. Intermittent issue, but usually at least once every time I drive it. Have had to come to complete stop in busy intersection to make sure I get the wheel, turned enough to complete the turn.
Power steering locks up at slow speed. Steering wheel is almost impossible to turn. I am concerned that it will get worse. Have an appointment with Buick dealer to check problem. Mileage is 68,000 miles.
I was driving at 75 mph and my engine shut off; car began to slow, fuel dropped, power steering went out, brakes didn't work. I was able to, thankfully, get to the side of the road safely and use the rumble strips to slow me down. I turned the car off and 5 min. Later turned it on and was able to drive to a safe location. This is a common issue and all of these conditions are related to the "limited warranty protection" that gm issued Nov. 2015 (14582). This is a safety hazard. My car experienced all the other condition, malfunction indicator light came on multiple times ( may, sept), was issued a letter in Nov. 2015 and then this occurred in Jan. 2016. Stipulation for this to be covered, under 120k miles of 10 years whichever first. My car experienced initial troubles at 110k in may and this potential fatal incident at 125. Arguing with gm over this. Should be a recall, not a limited warranty. Seems to be an unethical company. Does it take death to make this right? this has occurred countlesss times- check the internet, 100s of customers have reported this. Does this have to be another Toyota incident for gm to recognize this is a recall not a limited warranty! I have all paperwork showing the issues except dealer states since they can't replicate, they need the check engine light on and the car to be under 120k to determine if they should pay. Gm is unethical!!!.
Approximately four years ago, my steering started slipping and becoming tighter in tight (<95 degree) turns. Within a short time span, the problem became constant. It is impossible to enter or exit a parking spot. The dealer quoted me $2500 to repair and said the problem is frequent on Buick Enclaves from 2010 on.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. While making a right turn at approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred several times after attempting to make a right turn. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. The contact received a special coverage notice from manufacturer. The contact stated that while making a turn, the power steering would seize and the vehicle would have to go into manual steering. This was a recurring issue. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000. Mc.
Went to dealer for service was told steering rack was leaking and needed to be replaced. Asked about recalls for the issue and was told their were none. I would have to pay for the entire repair. Returned home to find a notice not a recall in the mail from gm about my issue. My condition is clearly associated with a known safety defect identified by gm. This is an admitted urgent safety condition and gm needs to repair these vehicles under a mandatory recall campaign and not try and find a way to not cover the cost of the repair. My wife drives this car in heavy suburban traffic and the sudden loss of power steering on a vehicle of this size and weight is a serious safety condition that can result in serious injury or a loss of life.
In the course of annual state inspection and tending to recall issues, was told that the power steering was leaking. Had not noticed any problem with it. Because was a safety issue got repair done; warranty expired (of course) so ended up paying $1400 for replacing power steering rack (including 4 wheel alignment). Contacted gm and they did partially reimburse under "special coverage". That seemed pretty decent of them but not so sure now in light of all the complaints listed re power steering in the Enclave in general and the 2010 Enclave in particular. There clearly is an issue with 2010 Enclaves (and maybe acadias and traverses) and the power steering assembly. There should be a recall issued.
Total loss of power steering at low speeds. Every time we slow to about 5 mph or less to make turns at corners, stop signs or curves we loose our power steering. Extremely difficult to park vehicle or navigate parking lots. Very unsafe when other vehicles or pedestrians are in the proximity.
At low speeds as in trying to park or waiting to make a turn from the stopped position, the steering becomes very stiff. It feels as the power steering has stopped working and is extremely hard to turn.
Our car has noisy power steering wheel, hard to turn. Went to dealer on 08/02/14 and was told that we need a new steering gear because of leaking and that will cost 2100. Our car only has 68,000 miles on it!!!. This is manufacturer defective and it is not covered by factory warranty. This is not cheap car, gm should know this issue and still make car for sale with cheap materials. We have no choice but will have to pay since this can cost death. We will not buy any american car from now on, try to support amercian auto industry but really? I decided to search on google and found out lots of complaint regarding power steering wheel 2010. We need help to get these recall and fix it!!! before multiple accidents this may cause.
When driving at low speeds, the steering would lock up when turning. A test drive by my mechanic resulted in a new steering gear 36r0450. When I researched steering problems on the 2010 Buick Enclave, I found a lot of information about the steering problems on the 2010 Buick Enclave. My mechanic said this needed immediate repair because it was a safety item. I believe this needs to be a formal gm recall.
The power steering will work for about the first 3 minutes of getting into the car and then it will go out everytime I am below 20 mph. I live in the mountains and won't even let my wife drive the vehicle because I am concerned for her safety. Also, my a/c and heat just went out in my car.
I was driving from utah to northern California. I was coming out of bridgeport, CA, going over sonora pass, which winds through the mountains. At several sharp turns the power steering just quit and I had to tug on the steering wheel to keep in my lane. I have experienced this before making sharp turns in parking lots and also exiting my driveway. This incedent in the mountains has left me very worried. I will be seeing my GMC dealer this coming week to look into the issue. I feel this defect could very well kill someone someday as it's just a matter of time. I hope no one dies before it is resolved.
