The contact owns a 2025 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the brakes started to squeak. There were no warning lights illuminated. The brake pad life percentage was going down daily. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front and rear brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
The brake slide is aluminum blocks with stainless steel pins. This is improper design since a catalyst action corrodes the aluminum causing aluminum oxide to freeze the pins making the brakes to seize against the rotor. This burns the pads and caused breaking away of pad material. I have only 28000 miles and the brakes are gone. Also results in low fuel milage. Possible cause of highway accident such as happened in spring killing a woman on I-65 south of indianapolis. I was fortunate no personal accident occurred. Wrote gm and was brushed off. Vehicle used only on trips with mostly highway miles. But brakes are gone so replaced but will not fix gm problem. Black and polished like black onyx stone.

Rear brakes over heated. An inspection revealed that the brake pads were frozen due to rust and worn at an angle and not even causing metal to metal contact. Rear pads and rotors had to be replaced at a cost of $ 347. 62. If this had been caught during normal inspection intervals I don't beleive the rotors would have had to be replaced. Perhaps inspection and cleaning of brake pads should be checked at certian intervals in the northen areas where snow and ice are a problem. Note this hapened apon return home from last scheduled maintenance. I had to make a new apointment to have my brakes checked, a distance of about 30 miles.

2010 Buick Enclave. Consumer states problem with braking system the consumer stated he heard a noise coming from the wheel on the rear driver side. According to the dealer, the warped rotors were the result of an excessive amount of stop and go driving and too much pressure being applied to the brakes. The rear brake pads were metal to metal and the front pads and rotors were worn. The left rear rotor was worn too much to cut and the left front rotor was too far out of specifications after it was cut.
At 13,759 miles on new vehicle, brakes pulsed when applied. Front rotors excessively rusted/pitted/warped, measured and tried to machine, would be below min. Specs if machined. Brake pads were worn excessive at min thickness due to the rotor concern. Replaced front brake rotors and pads. Rear rotors warped/out of round, machined rear rotors.
