3 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 11/29/2025

The "service airbag - passenger" warning light suddenly appeared on the console of my 2014 Buick Enclave. Once I arrived home, I googled what the light indicated and I also sorted through mail I had recently received from Buick that notified me of a recall. Convinced that I needed to resolve the issue promptly, I contacted the dealership we purchased the vehicle from and they informed me to come in so they could hook the diagnostic machine to the car to determine the codes. I went into the dealership early the following morning (work order initiated at 8:21am). I explained the situation again, and was told that they'd perform a complimentary diagnostic test to determine the issue. The service advisor listed "safety recall - driver front airbag inflator may rupture" [I did notify them that the warning light indicated it was the passenger side airbag]. At 9:00 am I received a text message "to review the inspection and approve the recommendations": customer states service airbag message check and advise [other]: diag, need 1. 5hr diag time to test circuits related to passenger air bag for code b0021 passenger seat side air bad deployment loop. (need toi remove seat to test)$389. 93 -- yes, I approved. But when questioning why there was a charge for the resolving the recall issue, I was told, "it's a different issue than the recall. " then I was told they'd need to remove the seat to get to the wires/connectors for the airbag and that cost would be $519. 90 bypass the air bag connector under the seat by soildering the 4 pin connector together. Interbnal fault in connector casuing high resistance. Also add $44 shop charge. The "free recall repair" cost us $957. 46 (I did ask for the military discount since this was totally unexpected and immersed with the planned costs for the holidays). I feel like this is unfair and inappropriate to charge customers for a service that should have been covered. I would have never come into the dealership had it not been for the recall.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection? the issue appears to be related to the auto start-stop system and/or an evap-related component, as the vehicle will sometimes completely shut off instead of restarting when stopped. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? when the engine shuts off, the vehicle loses all power, including steering and brake assist. This has happened at red lights, stop signs, and in school zone traffic. I have to restart the vehicle while stopped in active traffic lanes, which puts me and others at high risk of being hit. I am a single mom with 3 young children. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. A Buick dealership inspected the vehicle earlier this year. They observed the stalling issue but could not identify a single cause. They suggested possible repair attempts, but the issue has continued. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? it has only been inspected by a Buick dealership service department. No other agencies have inspected it. Were there any warning lights, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure? when did they first appear? no warning lights or messages appeared when it first happened. The problem began before I replaced the battery, and replacing the battery did not resolve the issue. Additional description: when I come to a stop—at red lights, stop signs, or in traffic—the vehicle’s auto start-stop system activates like normal, but instead of restarting, the engine will completely shut off. I then lose power steering and braking support and must restart the car in the middle of the roadway. It is unpredictable and unsafe. Sometimes it’s instantly but today I sat there for 15 minutes waiting. I took it straight to autozone and everything tested good.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

Completely lost all power brakes while on the road today. Owned it for about 11 months. Looking like the master cylinder. We've been having random electrical issues when we're cranking it up. Weird sound coming from the dash when the ac is on on occasion. Like the car wasn't fully kicking over even though the engine was running. Sometimes turning it off and turning it back on would make it work.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 10/16/2025

I wanted to update a previous report. The vehicle had had some odd electrical issues. The brakes ended up failing while driving but no electrical issues at the time proceeding it. What I wasn't able to report before was that the brake pedal sunk to the floor with no effort to stop the vehicle at all. The emergency brake is a button on the left side of the vehicle which was attempted to be engaged to stop. It made no effort to stop whatsoever. The vehicle is a danger to society. I just got it back from the dealership and they made an update to the computer or console but replaced no parts. These all need to be recalled no one should be driving these.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 09/26/2025

I came to a stop in the left turn lane at an intersection with a red light with the car in drive and my foot engaged on the brake to wait for the light to turn green. The car suddenly and completely died and all power was shut down. I was not able to engage the hazards. It was dark outside and I was afraid cars behind me would hit me. It was an incredibly dangerous situation with no warning. I exited the vehicle and got to the side of the road. The police arrived and were able to push the car to the side of the road as well. I opened the hood and checked the negative battery terminal and upon pulling the lever, the power came back on. We have an appointment at a gm dealership on Monday to fix the issue to ensure we are not put at risk again.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

I have been the owner of this vehicle almost 6 months. My headlights and brake lights do not currently work because of what was diagnosed as electrical failure at the Buick dealership. There are no warranties for this issue specifically aside from the 36,000/3 year warranty which is expired. The dealership mechanics don’t know how to fix this issue and informed me it could be thousands. It poses an extreme safety risk and prevents me from being able to drive my car at any point requiring headlights. I’ve been given a warning from an officer as to my lights being out as it gets dark around 5-5:30 pm. This vehicle hasn’t been altered in any way and has all original manufacturer parts. It has not been wrecked or in any minor or major accident. I am stuck with a “lemon” but in the state of SC my vehicle doesn’t qualify. This vehicle has 70k miles. I am the 3rd owner. Buick indicated that these model Enclaves have been known to have headlight issues. I do not have an alternative vehicle. I have children. I have responsibilities. I cannot go without a safe vehicle and currently I’m unable to use my vehicle for the purpose it’s intended because of this issue. I need a replacement vehicle if this is not a repairable issue. I also cannot get new financing as this vehicle has only been financed for 6 months.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

I am a [xxx] and owner of a 2018 Buick Enclave that suffered a catastrophic transmission failure which nearly killed me and my child. On Friday, [xxx], while driving westbound on [xxx] from edison, NJ to my home in easton, PA, my vehicle suddenly and without warning came to a complete halt in the fast lane. A driver tailgating me swerved at the last second to avoid impact. Moments later, when I tried to move again, the car lost all power and drifted helplessly across two lanes of speeding traffic, directly into the path of two tractor-trailers barreling down at highway speeds. This was the hottest day of the summer, and I was left in terror, fully aware that one wrong move would have ended our lives instantly. The fact that my child could have lost their only parent because of a mechanical defect is beyond unacceptable. The stress, fear, and trauma of this incident cannot be overstated—it was a near-fatal event that never should have happened. My mechanic has since confirmed the transmission is destroyed, with black metal fragments throughout—clear evidence of internal failure. Only two months earlier, in June 2024, the car passed inspection with no codes or signs of a problem. This was not wear and tear; it was a hidden, catastrophic defect. In December 2024, gm recalled more than 461,000 vehicles, including certain 2018 Enclave models, for transmission defects leading to rollaway and internal failure. Source: the lemon firm, 12/18/24 [xxx] ). My case mirrors the defect exactly, yet I never received recall notice. I demand gm confirm my VIN’s inclusion and cover the full cost of repair or replacement. I barely escaped a fatal crash. Gm must act immediately before lives are lost. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 06/09/2025

Problem: the back hatch or trunk door pops open randomly on its own, many times a day. In a parking lot once. It hasn't happened while I've been driving. Safety issue because if it were to open while in public and a person wasn't in the vehicle, then anyone could enter the vehicle and theft could occur. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. A service center confirmed that it's the switch in the back hatch. No, the vehicle hasn't been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance. No, there haven't been any warning lights with this issue.

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

The wireless charging tray on my Enclave gets the phone very hot. It gets so hot that my phone shuts down. This happens with pixel, samsung and apple devices. There are several reports on the web regarding this issue. I even tried to charge my phone without a case same issue. This is a concern because it can cause a vehicle fire. The batter gets so hot that it can easily catch on fire.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 02/17/2025

Power liftgate was functioning erratically and now it won't open at all. Currently there is no way to manually open the liftgate or access the rear of the vehicle without climbing through the vehicle to get to the trunk area. Electrical switches on inside, exterior of vehicle nor the keyfob will open the liftgate. Previously the liftgate opened on its own at unintended times and now it has simply quit working. Safety issue was when it was opening while driving. It is not currently doing this since it won't work anymore. Complete failure happened around 54k miles.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 02/11/2025

During a rainstorm water is entering the fuse box under the glove box and the carpet and padding underneath is soaking wet on the right front floor. When the fuse case was opened water started to drip out. The engine continues to run with the key off and the only way to stop it is to pull the ignition fuse under the hood. Unfortunately the battery died by morning and I could not get it charged for a few days. Now I have learned how to take the battery cover off which is located in the back of the car and remove the plastic covers under the mat so I can disconnect the battery so it doesn't run down. The rear wiper will not shut off now since this started. I am a 75 yr old widow and wonder how this problem has not been on a recall. It causes a very dangerous situation. I will try to see if I can get it into a Buick dealer this week and pray god it doesn't cost me an arm and leg to repair it. There are service bulletins on this problem and seems to be quite freqent yet I have not received any notifications from you. If this happens at night in a parking lot what am I to do? can the car catch on fire by not shutting off?.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 10/29/2024

Start/stop function malfunctioned in the middle of the road, this has happened multiple times before and after replacing starter and battery, looked at by several mechanics. If I stop the car at a light or in traffic my car will dint turn back on or let me shift. Thus a safety issue because I could have been hit as it stopped in a busy road and people had to move around my vehicle. Engine light came on after failure and ceased the engine and I couldn’t move to the intersection. I also just got an oil change. They first appeared a few months ago and I had already gotten work done on it and it keeps happening.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 08/20/2024

Vehicle would not go into park fortunately we were in a safe location to avoid a possible accident or injury. The vehicle has electronic transmission shifting. According to the dealership the park solenoid in the transmission valve body failed. This prevented us from putting the vehicle in park so it could safely be shut off. We were able to set electronic parking brake but ignition continued to remain on. Eventually had to disconnect the negative battery terminal. Had vehicle towed to dealership but could not release electric park bake or start vehicle with battery terminal reconnected. This is becoming a common problem with this transmission, so common that parts are on back order. This could be a very unsafe problem with this vehicle in the right circumstance. There should be a recall on this transmit that is used on multiple gm vehicles.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 03/28/2024

I had taken to alpena mi. Buick GMC address 133 johnson st alpena mi. 49707. When the warning come up on the message center on the dash 28/3/24 that said service side detection system and in the side mirrors each side light up all the time and would cost $875. 00 installed at that time had to pay $80. 19 inspect and advise. At that time was unable to afford that cost to have fixed. So with those light on in your mirrors it was a unsafe to drive in daylight hours and worse in night time driving so we had to limit our driving because of this and both my wife and myself are on disability. . It was a distraction and made for unsafe travel for ourselves and for other drivers on the roads. We were able to afford on 02/04/24 and at time was taken back to. The same dealership for repair at that time they installed the side detection kit cost was $812. 66 which was less then the original cost. Question number 2 with this lights on in your mirrors at all times when we would be driving day and night it was a big distraction that you never would know if someone was in the next lane to you on two lane road or on the interstate. So each person was at risk in our vehicle as well as other vehicles. Question number 3 yes that was confirmed by alpena Buick GMC the dealer I had taken the car to back on 28/3/24 . Question number 4 as far as it being a gm dealer and being a gm part I would say yes. Question 5 yes as I told you in q neeuestion 1 it had on the message center in dash service side detection as well as lights on in both mirrors. In my words this is a reason this should be a recall first for people that are driving and can't afford to have fixed this is a accidents waiting to happen with death please do a recall.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Buick Enclave

Failure Date: 02/05/2024

The rear switch on our tailgate has failed and it allows the tailgate to open/close randomly on its own while the vehicle is locked even. I contacted Buick about the problem and they said didn’t care, but this can happen while the vehicle is moving down the road as well as when parked. It’s not necessarily a typical safety issue that are normally recalled for, but it does pose significant safety issues if you want your car to be locked and you come back from the store and it’s not and people are free to break it or if it were to happen while moving. We had this happen on our car at around 38,000 miles. From reading other Buick forums to try and figure out what the cause is, it sounds like it’s a somewhat common occurrence. It’s alarming that it can open while the vehicle is locked.
