2 Structure problem of the 2012 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

The a-pillar of the vehicle is extremely wide and obstructs visibility. The vehicle is dangerous to drive, and the width of the pillar has caused us to pop 3-tires (one left, two right) (three separate times/three different drivers) due to an inability to adequately gauge turns as a result of the pillar's width. It is an extreme design flaw and action should be taken against gm for such a negligent design. No matter the seat position, you simply do not have adequate frontward visibility to the left or right (it's just one giant frontward blind spot). Additionally, the c/d pillars are also extremely wide and obstructive, and the rear deck is too high. This design has not changed for even the 2014 models and provides an inherent safety risk.

3 Structure problem of the 2012 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 07/16/2012

On tow occasions, while moving ahead at approx. 10 mph, in front of the grocery store, an individual was crossing in front of my vehicle and the post between the driver's side and the windshield being so wide, obstructed the view of him/her crossing the drive lane. My wife was riding in the passenger seat and she was able to him/her and alerted me, because I could not due to the post being so wide. It blocked my view of him. Another incident occurred with a car pulling out from the right side being partially blocked by the post on the right. It is a hazardous design blocking approx. 20% of forward view across the front of the vehicle. . Updated 08-27-12.

4 Structure problem of the 2007 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 11/11/2011

While driving on the highway in the rain, my headlights went out. I was terrified. Turning the switch on and off would not fix the problem. I took the car to the dealership. They said they could not duplicate the problem and would not fix it. I had taken the car to the dealership shortly after purchase in 2009 and had complained of leaking seal on the top edge of the driver's side door in the rain. Water would drip all over my left arm, shoulder and arm rest. They said they could not duplicate the problem and would not fix it. Now the headlights will refuse to work on an intermittent basis. The dealership will not fix it. The dash reads headlights suggested but they will not come on. I can use the dimmer on the steering column and the bright lights will work, but driving with bright lights into oncoming traffic is dangerous. I need to have a dealer fix this problem. I took the car through a car wash for the first time the other day and the lights have been acting up again. Please have someone contact me and authorize repairs at the dealership. I am afraid to drive even a short distance at night not knowing when my headlights will suddenly go out again. It has happened several times now. It really scares me and concerns me that a dealership would not repair the problem. Updated 09/10/lj the consumer also stated there was a noise coming from the steering, a squeaking noise coming from the dash area, and water would drip through the top door, every time it rained. Also, there was a vibration issue, so the dealer replaced the tires, but it didn't resolve the issue.

5 Structure problem of the 2011 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Blind spot warning system (bsws) inoperative que on vehicle multi function information display (mfid), located behind the steering wheel in a 3"x4" area is inadequate. The bsws on this vehicle is very sustainable to road spray during rain events that renders this system inoperative. The issue is in the warning that is displayed to the driver when this occurs. The message displayed is only shown for approximately 5 secs, then is removed without any driver action acknowledgement . No icon is shown to remind drivers of active messages. If this message is missed, the driver is not aware that this system is inoperative. Also, there is no message telling the driver when this system becomes operational again. Two possible outcomes. 1. The driver does not believe in the system, losing the benefit of this valuable system, especially in this vehicle model with its large blind spots, or 2. The driver believing in the system and turns into traffic, not realizing that the system has become inop and unaware because of the missed message on the mfid. These are basic human factors issues that have been dealt with in the aviation industries for years. The industry needs to address these types of issues as we continue to increase our reliance on automation in these vehicles. The lack of a standard and standards between manufacturers will become a significant player in coming years.
