The air bag malfunction warning light blinks and then remains on when the ignition is turned on and when driving regardless of speed. This condition has resulted in the replacing of the relevant part twice since I purchased this vehicle in 2009 once under warranty and once out of warranty. This recurring problem compromises the operation of the air bags in the event of an accident. The air bags in this vehicle have never been deployed since it has been accident free since purchased new.

Red airbag warning light appears intermittently. Dealer identified a problem with the sensor in the passenger seat and replaced the part. The same problem has since reappeared. The light will turn off when the passenger slides the seat back and forth or unfastens and refastens the seat belt. This problem can occur at any time and does not require the vehicle to be in motion nor the presence of a passenger. The problem is more likely to occur in warmer weather.
The airbag indicator warning light comes on intermittently while driving my 2008 Buick Lacrosse. This car has only 23,000 miles on it. The failure happens every time I drive my car with or without someone in the front passenger seat. This exposes the driver and passenger to danger as no airbag protection is afforded to them when the light is on. I brought the car to the dealer for diagnosis, they said a part may be needed that costs about $1,000 to replace. This needs to be recalled because it is a safety issue that many Buicks have, and the replacement costs should be covered by general motors, not the customer. Apparently, I am not the only one to experience this issue. Here is a link to the carcomplaints. Com website where many others have shared their experiences with this problem. . Read more...

Air bag warning indicator illuminates erratically. Sometimes it is illuminated when starting the engine, sometimes it illuminates when the vehicle is moving down the road at various speeds (no real pattern). Sometimes the warning light goes out while driving and other times it stays on until the car is parked and turned off. It seems to be related to warmer weather because the symptoms went away when it got cold in September 2015 and came back when it got warmer in June 2016.

Passenger air bag warning light comes on intermittently. Dealer wants over $1500 to repair.
Intermittent air bag warning light goes on and off for passenger seat whether or not the seat is occupied. This has continued for two years. On-star failure code is always b0092. I took the Buick to a dealer who attempted to fix it twice without luck. The thrid trip for a "fix" would have cost me $ 1,200 without any guarantees. It still is in use but I now keep my fingers crossed. This happens when parked or driving.

2009 Buick Lacrosse. Consumer writes in regards to a defective airbag the consumer stated when a person was seated in the passenger seat, the warning light would come on a times and sometimes it wouldn't. The consumer stated over the years, several lights would illuminate on the instrument panel, such as the abs, seat belt, tire pressure, and radio, etc. The dealer had the vehicle for eight days. Everything seemed satisfactory, but after three days, the air bag warning light and other instrument panel lights illuminated again. Updated 02/07/12.
The passenger air bag warning light will come on when I'm driving and no one is even sitting in the passenger seat. Anything sitting on the seat weighs much less than the 80 lbs specified in the manual. Sometimes the light will come on when I have a passenger sitting there, indicating that the air bags are off - when they should be on!!! there is no event that consistently triggers the light coming on. I might be turning or slowing down or just driving down a straight road. Sometimes, the light will stay on for a couple of minutes, and sometimes it will stay on for more than ten minutes. I've taken my car to the dealer five times in the four years I've owned the car, and the first four times, the dealer fixed it at no charge. This time, the dealer says it "has gone all the way down to the passenger detection module and it will cost you $1250 to fix it. " a passenger detection modules sounds rather important to me, and very much a safety issue, but the service manager said that if there's no recall, it's customer pay. With the number of complaints made on this site for this identical issue, I'd say it's highly likely that there are many more cars with the same problem, but their owners just don't know about this site. Is it necessary for a certain number of complaints before an investigation is made? I guess my husband will just have to trust his luck - he's the one generally sitting in the passenger seat!!.
