The contact owns a 2002 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the dashboard separated from the steering wheel, which caused the panel to raise and obscure the driver's visibility. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.
The sub frame (sometimes called engine cradle) bushings, retainers, and the sub frame itself wherein they mount, are decayed. Some bushings and retainers are completely missing. Having investigated the requirements for repair, I have found that nearly all gm cars with this mounting system are experiencing the same malfunction. This is definitely a safety issue, in that the engine cradle can fall from the vehicle. In my opinion this is the result of a design or materials failure, incorporated when the vehicle was manufactured. The repair cost of the parts, from gm "dealer only", is prohibitive. Is this being considered for a mandatory recall. ?.

The dashboard panel is separating at the front where it meets the defroster cowling. The separation is increasing along the front of the dash from driver to passenger side, and is starting to curl up considerably on the driver side. It is unknown how much further the separation/curling will continue, and is beginning to affect the vision of the driver just above the hood. I addition, other components under the dashboard are beginning to be exposed to sunlight. Further investigation suggests that this is an extremely common failure with this model vehicle, with multiple complaints from consumers, ranging from obscured driver vision, to potential or possible airbag deployment due to exposed components. Investigation also suggests that general motors is not acknowledging the existence of the problem, nor providing adequate solutions for repair despite numerous customer complaints and concerns.

I was cleaning my 1994 Buick lesabra when I noticed a hole in the floor around the rear seatbelt. I'm very worried about this. Will the person sitting in the back seat get hurt or killed if the seatbelt dosent hold in the event of a accident. Please check into this. I know this is a older veh,but its all I have. I thought that gm would of fixed this by now,or is mine the only one that is rusted?I really do not think that it is the only one.
On 06/08/14 brake pedal of my car went to floor while I was driving it at low speeds to escape collision with car in front of me, which stopped on red light, I directed my car to pole of subway. It damaged frontal right side of my car my car was towed to geico direct shop quentin auto center, inc on 06/10/14 I was present at inspection of my car by geico adjuster ms s tomlinson. Both the adjustor and repair shop owner mr. C. Arlia determined that brake system of my car has serious rupture near abs unit right there I presented geico adjuster with original invoice of repair of the brake system by 86th street Chevrolet SAAB, inc dealer of general motors in July of 2013 though she took copy of invoice, she never added it to my claim I explained to adjustor and shop owner that on 07/04/13 brake pedal of my car failed for first time at that time I did not have accident and my car was under most comprehensive extended warranty of general motors gmpp. 86th street Chevrolet SAAB, inc. Dealer of gm repaired my car under warranty there is warranty that covers the repair eleven months after brake pedal failed for first time, it repeated itself drove it less than two thousand miles since then according to both geico adjustor and shop owner brake system of car, that now has serious rupture near abs unit, was already in dangerous rusty condition during its repair by dealer of gm in July of last year; dealer improperly repaired only one of lines of brake system; the dealer would have to replace all the lines on 06/11/14 ms tomlinson contacted me and stated that ¿brake system will not be covered and I will have to arrange with gm or its dealer to repair car on 06/12/14 geico provided me with a letter of denial to repair brake lines because inspection of my car found that the damage to brake lines was due to wear and tear, and not loss related now geico puts me liable.

Dashboard has warped and separated from under the windshield. According to experienced auto mechanics, deployment of the air bag system will most likely be compromised. It also affects visibility for the driver. . Read more...
My front dashboard has been gradually coming unattached near the windshield. It has gotten so bad that it is hindering my view of the road. It is also a problem for the airbag system. . This is truly a safety hazard and I cannot believe Buick has refused to acknowledge this defect which is affecting so many of their customers. I own two Buick Lesabres and it happened to both of them.

I have a complaint to enter. The dash board cover has separated almost all the way across on my 2003 Buick lasabre beginnnig at approximately 40,000 miles. I am being told it is dangerous because it might open the air bag on passenger side and inflict possible death or injury to passenger. It is also beginning to raise up at separation enough to hamper viewing when driving. This car has also had all four window regulators replaced and one in back twice for a total of 5 window regulators replacements. I have had to have alinements on front end more times than I ever had on any other vehicle I ever owned. The only thing that is good about the vehicle is the engine, I have had no complaint with it so far. Almost everyone I have talked to that owns a Buick 2003 has had this same problem with the dash board. I hold gm liable if anything should happen because of the faulty dash board that might cause injury or death to my passenger. There are probably thousands of these vehicles with faulty dash boards. I never had to replace a single window regulator in any car I ever owned before. A class lawsuit might be the answer to all these problems. Can you help us ?.
The padded dash cover started pulling away from the dash behind the steering wheel. The gap is increasing in size as it moves toward the passenger side.
The brakes make a strange sound sometimes & stall;gas leak;undercarriage is weak.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the center dashboard covering separated and extended to the passenger's side air bag housing. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Js.
The padded dash peeled up away from the dash frame in fron of steering wheel. It is peeling across from left to right. I am concerened about air bag deploying without warning. G. M. Says this part is discontiuned and you can not find this part anywhere. There should be a recall on this padded dashbrfore some one gets hurt.
Dashboard on 2003 Buick Lesabre limited started to seperate interffering with heads up display and starting to obcure drivers sight which could lead to a potentially fatal accident gm/Buick refuse to do anything about the situation which is clearly a manufacturers defect.
We noticed around mid-June that our 2004 Buick lasabre had a warped dashboard and is pulling away from the vent area. I was told that this can and probably will continue to spread and endanger our lives by the airbag deploying while driving. This is a definite safely hazard and a defect and I am aware that this is happening to many Buicks and the company is unwilling to correct the situation.
The contact owns a 2001 Buick Lesabre. The contact was entering the vehicle when the dashboard detached on the driver’s side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the dashboard had detached. The manufacturer was also contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 53,134 and the current mileage was 53,200.
Window regulators fail due to poor design on part of manufactuer. Window is stuck in a down postion. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2003 Buick Lesabre. While parked, the contact noticed that the dashboard cover was delaminating from the front of the front passenger side air bag. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the dashboard would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.
The dash pad on my 2001 Lesabre, which my elderly mother previously owned and maintained well, has buckled and pulled up from the dash board right above the steering wheel. It has pulled out of the defrost panel on the driver's side and curls up and is becoming an obstruction to my view. I am unable to reattach it and worried that as it continues to pull out to the passenger's side, it will possibly activate the airbag. I have researched and found this to be a problem for multiple years of the Lesabre model and gm has not addressed it. I've never seen this happen with other older car models and understand that it has been a problem for the Lesabre for some in the early years of ownership.
The dashboard started coming up by the windshield, within 3 or 4 weeks the whole dash is buckling, coming up all the was across the dashboard and the dashboard is moving toward driver and passenger. We took it to be looked at and was told the windshield would have to be removed & a new dash put in, over $3000! our car is in great condition except for this manufacture defect. I have found online multitudes of same problem with Buick lasabre's. This is very dangerous as the air bags are affected. Please get gm to recall this defective dashboard. Thank you, norman davis.
The contact owns a 2001 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the dashboard had begun separating from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the failure was caused by the heat and temperature changes, which deteriorated the material. The vehicle was not repair and the dealer offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was notified who stated that the vehicle was not under warranty and to have the vehicle taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased for a diagnostic. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 61,000.
Dashboard on this car is separating near steering wheel. Concerned that this could eventually impair visibility and could affect the functioning of the air bags. Hope we don't need to wait till there are injuries or fatalities before gm decides to recall this problem and make the necessary repairs on these cars. Owned 1997 century that had no problems. Very disappointed as rest of the car is still in great shape. Currently has under 50k miles on the vehicle.
Earlier this summer, June or July, I took my Lesabre in to my dealer where I purchased the car used (in 2006) because my dash had been separating for quite some time. I thought there may have been some sort of recall or technical bulletin for the dash problem, only to find out that they had never seen a problem like mine before. Their suggestion was to replace the dash at a cost of nearly $900 and they couldn't be certain that it wouldn't happen again. I had posed the question about the separation causing problems with the air bag system since I had read something about it online. The dealer said they didn't think it would cause a problem. They finally had a service tech come look at the dash and he said he would just "glue it down", put a couple screws through the dash and buy an aftermarket dash cover "if it were him" and sent me on my way. The dash has continually been separating more and more since then. Finally, on the 24th of November 2010, as I was driving down a local highway, my air bag dash light came on and the audible alarm sounded. I immediately moved my seat back and went home ASAP. I looked at the manual to find out that when the air bag light was on it meant that the air bags could 1) not deploy during an accident or 2) depoly at any time without reason. This is a major safety concern and should be dealt with by the factory / dealer / carmaker / etc. This is, in my opinion, no doubt caused by the separating of the dash panel from the rest of the vehicle. Please consider this dash separation as a legit problem and something that needs to be taken care of. I can't understand having to pay nearly $900 to fix a problem that many, many people are having due to poor design on the part of Buick / general motors. An air bag deployment during normal driving will most certainly lead to an accident and possibly a fatality. . . Unacceptable!!!.
My front dashboard has been gradually coming unattached near the windshield. It has gotten so bad that it is hindering my view of the road. My daughter is just learning to drive and we have decided it is not safe for her to use my vehicle because her view of the road is blocked by the lifted dashboard. This is truly a safety hazard and I cannot believe Buick has refused to acknowledge this defect which is affecting so many of their customers.
Dash on 2001 Buick Lesabre has seperated, starting on drivers side and going across to passenger side. I am concerned it can cause airbag to inflate causing an accident. Local dealer said it would have to be replaced for approx. $1000. 00. & 2 body shops refused to repair. Another shop will replace for $800. 00 to $900. 00 or repair by removing windshield for $400. 00. I know this is a serious problem on 2000 thru 2005 Buick lesabras.
