The contact owns a 1997 Buick lasabre. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, he began to turn to the right, and the front end of the vehicle collapsed to the ground. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the washers, which were bolted to the frame, were severely corroded. The manufacturer was notified and offered to cover a portion of the repair costs. The vehicle was not repaired, because the contact thought the manufacturer should cover all costs. The failure mileage was 129,000.

September 15th driving my 1997 Buick Lesabre heard and felt a loud banging noise. Lost all steering. Car taken to garage where it was discovered that all four rear subframe cradle mount retainers had failed. Entire engine and cradle fell disengaging the steering completely. I have since learned that there are thousands of Lesabre owners who have had this same thing occur. Gm did a recall on the regals for the same problem. Was there ever a recall on the Lesabres and if not. . . Why not. This is an obviously very serious design failure which is potentially fatal. Fortunately no one was injured in my case or the lawyers would be hard at work. My Buick is well cared for. . . Serviced and inspected regularly and this still occurred. Has only 87,700 miles on it. It cost me over $1000 to repair the problem and make the car safe to drive again. Is there any way I can get gm to step up and assume responsibility for this? can NHTSA help?.
Engine cradle support washers rust out causing the support to fall down when leaving the vehicle undriveable.
The dashboard cover separated from the dashboard on my 2002 Buick Lesabre limited. Eventually, the cover will separate enough to block the driver's view from the driver's seat. This has the potential to result in a serious automobile crash that could result in death or injury to the driver and passengers and the driver and passengers in the vehicle that is struck in an incident. A safety recall is needed so that Buick will recall models that are effected and thus avoid a serious crash.

The contact owns a 1996 Buick Lesabre. While driving 25 mph, the contact struck a pothole and lost control of the vehicle. The contact replaced four upper and lower washers and isolators, in addition to four bolts. The failure mileage was 70,620 and current mileage was 70,670. Updated 12/07/07.

The mounts on the engine cradle broke and dropped and steering disengaged. The rack and pinion fell within the engine. Owner was in a parking lot driving when this happened. The speed was between 5-10 mph. There were no prior problems with the vehicle. The manufacturer said that the owner will not be getting any help resolving this problem today. This happened on July 20, 2005. There were no injuries. The 4 rear mounts on the engine cradle broke. The owner was having this repaired eventually. The information provided by the consumer was what he thought was relevant to the complaint. All the information collected is what the owner of the vehicle has wish to provide. The owner was on the phone with Buick customer service and they contacted the owners dealer and told the owner that they would not send anyone to the owners home to examine the damage.
Traveling 75-80mph when the vehicle started to vibrate. While it was vibrating, it started to make noises. Had taken vehicle to dealership to have it checked out. Was informed by mechanic that it was characteristic of the vehicle & not a problem with the suspension or axle.
