7 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 05/13/2013

The dashboard between the air vent and the steering wheel underneath the windshield is curling up and coming off. From my research, pretty much all the '01 through '05 Buicks have the same problem and gm is not doing anything about it. This will only get worse and could potentially cause the passanger side airbags to deploy for no reason and harm the people in the vehicle badly. Please help!.

8 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 09/21/2012

I have a 2001 Buick Lesabre custom in which the dashboard has come loose from the window molding and has buckled up half way across the dashboard. My understanding is that if it goes all the way across it can cause the airbag(s) to deploy possibly causing injury. Other than this the car is in excellent condition previously owned by an older couple who, almost literally, drove it to church and the grocery store. I love my car but can't afford to replace the dashboard.

9 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

The dash cover is separating ahead of the steering wheel. The dash is raising up starting to cause visibility issues. Very concerned that this may go across the dash into the airbag area and cause the airbags to deploy in normal driving conditions.

10 Structure problem of the 2004 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

I own the lasabre custom. Dashboard has buckled 1/2 way between the front of the dashboard to the chassis in front of driver's side and spread across to the passenger side. Dashboard has separated away from the chassis and is now 90% free-floating across the entire dashboard and will be completely disengaged soon. This will likely deploy the passenger side airbag and upon deployment the driver's airbag will release while the car is in movement. Injury or death to both passenger and driver is eminent, as well as the safety to oncoming traffic. Considering the hundreds of complaints from other 2000-2005 Buick lasabre customers going back 4 years to current, there is clear evidence that this is a manufacturer's defect and a recall is in order. Should there be a death before this is validated?.

11 Structure problem of the 2004 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/02/2012

I have a 2004 Buick Lesabre limited that the dash pad has started raising up between the steering wheel and windshield. Based on the amount of information found on the internet concerning this problem, this could be a issue of safety. I feel that gm should be forced to issue a recall for this defect before someone is injured or killed.

12 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

My 2003 buck Lesabre dash has buckled in front of the steering wheel and is slowly moving to the passenger side now. The buckle in front of the steering wheel is now so high that it is becoming a driving hazard. It is also pulling away in front of passenger side in front of passenger airbag. Started to read that alot of people are experiencing this same problem and the safety hazards involved so I thought I should file a complaint.

13 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

The dash pad has buckled between the steering wheel and windshield. Possible air bag problem.

14 Structure problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 07/23/2012

Dash pad cover peeling away from dash pad base. Causing great issues with resale of vehicle reducing the value significantly. Manufacturing defect as I have seen a great many 2000-2005 Lesabre with this issue including my other 2000 model year Lesabre limited. A senior executive needs to deal with this issue and make the decision to replace the defective dash pads. Whoever designed, tested or manufactured these panels made a gross error and it is costing Buick's quality first repetition and customer service/care to be highly tarnished. I will move away from the Buick brand loyalty that I have due to this costly defect.

15 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 05/15/2012

The contact owns a 2003 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the dash panel separated from the glove compartment where the air bag was housed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

16 Structure problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/29/2012

The dashboard pulled away from the front windshield approx. 3/4" and now is getting wider to about 2" and is extending from the driver's side into the passenger area. We are afraid that dust will get in there and make gauges malfunction, and the air bags deploy unnecessarily. It also looks aesthetically bad as the rest of the interior is fine.

17 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

The dash pad under the windshield is starting to buckle and separate from the metal clamps. This separation is continually growing and moving from the drivers side of the dash panel to the passenger side where the front passenger air bag is located. With this movement and change I am concerned that the passenger air bag will not deploy in an accident or the air bag may inadvertently deploy causing injury to the passenger, not to mention how the driver may react should the airbag deploy unexpectedly. General motors needs to fix this to insure nobody is injured if that hasn't already happened.

18 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/28/2012

The contact owns a 2001 Buick Lesabre. While parked, the contact noticed that the dashboard was delaminating near the front passenger side air bag. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000. Updated 05/10/12.

19 Structure problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

When the car was purchased there were no dashpad flaws. Car was and still is garage kept. The dashpad has been lifting across the entire width of the pad from front to rear and exposing the structure underneath. This includes the passenger side airbag area which the dash pad is completly lifted and not sure if airbag is exposed.

20 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

The contact owns a 2003 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the dashboard had become fractured and the contact was concerned that the failure could cause the air bag not to deploy in the event of a crash. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure, nor was the vehicle diagnosed or repaired. The current mileage was 39,000 and the failure mileage was 35,000.

21 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 12/20/2011

The dashboard has separated from the base at the windshield in front of the steering wheel and has popped up. It was about an inch long and up in December but has progressed to now half-way across the windshield and is sticking up about 4 inches. I have read others with this problem having a concern about it creating a problem with the air bags. The expense of repair has been quoted at about $1,200 parts and labor. That is too expensive. We are looking at other options. Possibly trade.

22 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

. . The dash pad on my 2003 Buick Lesabre is separating from the dash, so far is halfway across to passenger side. . . Afraid the passenger side airbag may deploy if it goes much further. . This is an expensive automobile, still runs good at 108m miles. . Understand this problem is prevalent throughout Buick Lesabres. . . Why is gm and Buick not acknowledging this problem as defect and recalling these vehicles. . As good as these cars are, I will never buy another gm or Buick automobile!!!!.

23 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

In August of 2011 the dash panel of my Buick Lesabre started to pull away from the windshield hider moulding and a lump started to appear in back of the steering wheel and move toward the drivers side of the vehicle. I am worried that it will affect the airbag deployment system which is under the dash cover on the passengers side of the vehicle. I went on line and found that hundreds of people are having the same problem and this is definitely a defect in production of the dash panel cover but gm will do nothing about it other than direct me to return it to the dealer and pay upwards of $1000. 00 or more to correct a defect that gm is responsible for. The years that the Lesabre has this problem spans at least 2001 to 2005 that I know of and yet they refuse to recall the vehicles to repair the defect that they produced. I do not know if this defect has or will in the future cause injury or death but let us not wait for this to happen. A recall of these defective vehicles is most definitely warranted and should be forced to take place by the government.

24 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The upper dash pad is peeling from its backing, opening a 1" gap approximately a foot across, in front of the top of the steering wheel and directly behind the defroster grille housing. I have filed a complaint with gm, requesting financial assistance with repairs. Gm created a case file (#71-969127956) and I was denied any assistance. I then requested to speak with the gm district rep, who also denied any assistance and would not acknowledge knowing of Buick having a problem with this component. The repair estimate I obtained is $1080. 20. I first observed the problem when the vehicle had 47,000 miles. The passenger side air bag is enclosed in this pad and I am concerned that if the split in the dash extends far enough, it could cause the air bag to deploy. The vehicle now has 48,000 miles and aside from this problem, is in immaculate condition. Please advise me of any pending action NHTSA may be considering to force gm to take responsibility for this defect, which has been has also been reported to you by several other Buick owners. I would like to know that you are serious about representing the public in vehicle defect matters.

31 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

I have a 2003 Buick lasabre the dash board is seperating and raising up. It starts in front of steering wheel and goes half way to the passengers side of the car. It has came apart about two inches and is raised up about three inches ,and getting worse. The car is not left out side,so I dont think it is from the sun. If this seperation reaches on across the dash(and the way it is going,it will) the passenger air bag may deploy and cause serious injury to the person it hits, or cause me to have an accident. I have talked to many people that have had this same problem with this same model Buick, and that gm wont admit they have a design or workmanship problem and do the right thing and recall the cars for repair. Shame on you gm. I have owned gm cars since 1957 and they were great cars. Please own up to the fact that you have a problem and fix it .

32 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/05/2011

The VIN was unavailable.

34 Structure problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 11/30/2010

Dash pad is separating from the dash on passengers side near air bag deployment station.

35 Structure problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

Another very common defect with multiple year Buicks besides the window regulators that Buick refuses to admit fault and refuses to do anything about them. This is about the dash covering pulling away from the windshield and likely cause air bag to discharge and soon will obstruct vision through the windshield. Both of these items are very costly to repair and gn/Buick has offered nothing as far as I know to anyone. I will not buy another one. I have had to replace power steering hose at 60,000 and an axle at 90,000 and a tie rod at 50,000. And they wonder why sales from japan are booming??.
