The dashpad on my 2002 Buick Lesabre has pulled loose at the base and is bunched up in front of the steering wheel. I have tried without success to glue the pad back down myself because of the angle of the windshield. I have read blog posts from several 2000-2005 Lesabre owners who are experiencing the same problem, so I now realize that this is not the isolated problem I had thought it was. I am concerned that if the dashpad continues to pull loose, the airbag sensors could be triggered and cause the airbags to inflate while the car is being driven. My wife drives this car most of the time, and since she is only 5 feet tall, she must move the seat up almost as far as it will go. My teenage daughter rides in the front passenger seat when my wife takes her to school. I am concerned for their safety should the airbags accidentally deploy due to the dashpad coming loose.

Dash pad cover material has separated from the dash pad base. Issue is seen on many 2000-2005 Buick Lesabre automobiles. Manufacturing defect that needs a senior brand manager to step up to the plate for a solution to the high number of dissatisfied owners like me. I also have a 2002 Lesabre custom that is doing the exact same thing. I will file a complaint on that unit as well.

Ltr addressed to the potus re defective parts on his 2002 Buick Lesabre custom, inquiring what can the government do through gm to properly compensate him; for the administrators signature. All four of the window regulators had to be replaced, the sealant holding the cover to the dashboard came apart, which caused a large gap near the base of the windshield on the drivers side.
There is a continuously growing dashboard bubble (on top) on the driver side between the steering wheel and the windshield as a result of dashboard cover separation due to clip(s) failure - it has been spreading across the dash to the passenger side, and now there is concern about potential passenger airbag deployment issues.
The contact owns a 2002 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the eight inch dashboard panel became separated from the windshield. The panel separation originated from the passenger side near the air bag housing and continued to extend toward the driver side. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact expressed concern of the potential air bag safety hazard. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
This complaint is in regards to the dashboard. I purchased the car about four years ago. Initially there were not problems. As the years progressed, I noticed a steady separation of the dashboard and it started forming a very visible hump. . Read more...
Noticed when I first got the car in 2009 when I bought the car from a used dealership. A small piece of the dash was peeling up. Didn't think much of it at the time but dash has pretty much lifted from the drivers side almost all the way to the passengers side. A little worried that the passengers airbag may go off. Read many forums where others are complaining about there dash doing the same thing. Think there should be some type of recall to fix this problem. Seen several cars like mine in town and almost everyone I see has the same dash problem. Gm needs to address this problem!!.
Dashboard has warped and separated from under the windshield. According to experienced auto mechanic friends of mine, deployment of the air bag system will most likely be compromised. . Read more...
Safety concerns about my mother. Dashboard cover started lifting and pulling out from under windshield cowling about June 2009 and is traveling across to the passenger side where there is an airbag. I am now concerned that the lifting and creasing in front of the driver is a safety distraction and that if it continues to the passenger airbag that airbag may get set off unexpectedly, another safety hazard. It is definitely a manufacturer's defect and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints of this on the internet. Is there, or will there be, a recall to fix this problem? I am really concerned about my mothers safety while she is driving this car. Thank you.
The dash covering has begun shrinking or pulling away from the windshield for some time now. Don' know if this will ultimately compromise the air bag system or not. It is just plain shoddy workmanship. My 1991 Lesabre interior held up much better than this 2001.
The dash of our 2002 lasabre between the steering wheel and the windshield has pulled apart and is becoming an obstruction to our view. The separation is about an inch and is beginning to lift up. Also the drivers side dash where the air bag is located is starting to bulge from the dash and could be presenting a safety hazard if it continues to extend out farther.
The dash in my 2002 Buick Lesabre is coming up and I am afraid that one day I will be going somewhere and be in even a little fender bender or maybe not nothing at all and it will come on off . It is like the glue they used to mold it down has come undone or something like that . I bought the car used last June this started like right after I bought it and it just keeps getting worse all the time and now I am getting really worried someone will get hurt if it continues to come a loose . So it could cause serious injury or maybe even death to someone with the extra pieces coming up like that . The corner down next to the glove compartment is also starting to stick some also so it would probable not be a good idea for someone to let their small children or maybe even an adult to sit in the front seat on the passenger side of the vehicle I think that the dash could be harmful to anyone even the driver if anyone elses starts to stick up like mine does . The thought that it could be something that might need to be investigated so hopeful nobody will not lose their life in an accident. Buick Lesabre 2002 model .
The dash-cover has bubbled up in the front, causing a slight visibility problem but what I'm more worried about is that as this spreads the airbags may deploy. It is also a very noticeable appearance issue.
Dashboard has buckled and separated from chassis in front of driver's field of vision and spreads across middle area and towards passenger side. Fear of setting off air bags and also further impairment of vision as condition worsens. Seems to be a defective design by manufacturer. Numerous similar cases in Buick Lesabre models 2000-2005.
The dash board cover is separating or "crumpled" I am concerned this can cause the air bag to deploy if it separates too far. The dealer says that it is not covered under the warranty that I purchased. Does someone have to be seriously injured before something is done about this problem? I have seen many other Buick Lesabres doing the same thing. How can this issue be condoned by gm.
The dashboard on the vehicle started buckling at least 5 years ago. The buckling is severe and extends across the entire dash. The windows have also broken. I have had three of them repaired and one is still broken.
I found out that this gas line leakage issue exist in everyone that I know with this model vehicle. There is a fuel line clip that can be replaced. The clip is inserted at the end of the fuel line that connects to the engine but this clip doesn't last very long once replaced. Eventually the clip won't work anymore as if it is the fuel line itself that is bad. This issues seems to be a defect in this model Buick and is dangerous. I'm just wondering how can such an issue never been on the Buick recall list for this model car. Most people that have this car say that they have smelled the gas fumes and didn't know what it was. The gas actually leaks/ drip from the fuel line's clip onto the hot engine. ( can you say very dangerous) this is a lawsuit waiting to happen!.
The contact owns a 2004 Buick Lesabre. In 2007, the front windshield began leaking on the driver's side of the vehicle. Currently, the front passenger side is leaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer back in 2007 and they found an open seam at the front driver's side cowl area. The dealer sealed the seam back into place at the cost of $650. The contact will call the dealer and manufacturer to see if they will repair the vehicle again. The failure mileage was 6,574 and current mileage was 9,135. Updated 08/28/09. Updated 08/31/09.
The padded dash has peeled up and away from dash frame in front of the steering wheel. It is continuing to spread (peel up and away from the frame) across the padded dash from left to right, towards the passenger area. It continues to grow in severity, and I am concerned about the passenger airbag, with respects to it deploying without warning, due to the peeling/warping of the dash around it. I have put a dash mat (cover) over the problem for appearance purposes, but even that doesn't hide the growing magnitude of the problem anymore. I have been told that it will cost me anywhere from $350 - $1,200. 00 to correct this problem from independent repair shops in the area, to the gm Buick dealer. This is a design flaw, & "safety" issue direct from the manufacturer. Other than this ever increasing problem, the car is in immaculate condition, & I would like to keep it due to its mechanical reliability, fuel economy, & comfort. I believe an oem padded dash replacement, should be made a recall on the part of gm as this has not happened due to negligence, age of the vehicle (it began when the car was relatively new), or accident. I respectfully look forward to receiving a response from you.

: the contact stated the dash board was loose at the seam where the two parts meet. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined the dash needed to be replaced.
My parents purchased a 2001 Buick Lesabre from the dealership new. Both parents (father now deceased) retired and moved to florida in 2001, and very rarely drove the vehicle. My father passed away in February of this year (2012) and my mother asked me if I wanted the car. I drove to florida to pick up the car and noticed the dash panel was all buckled and looked horrible. I asked my mother what had happened and thought perhaps it was due to the south florida heat, but my mother said it started in 2006 and they had brought it back to dealer multiple times and was told it was not a warranty issue and would cost over $1000 to repair. After searching online for replacement dash panels I discovered this is a problem with the vehicle and has been for sometime, florida heat had nothing to do with it, I believe this is a manufacturing defect and will cause the airbag to deploy causing injury.
There is a reflection of the vent and the instrument panel in the windshield. *** nar received 9-29-** when driving in the sun, the reflection was so strong it distorted the consumers vision. The problem seemed to be in the design of the top of the instrument panel which slants towards the window. (11/16/05).

The contact owns a 2001 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the dashboard was separating from the windshield. The failure began two years ago at the driver side and has now extended to the passenger side. The dashboard is also buckling, crumbling, and warped. The weather may be a factor. The contact can see through the dashboard, but no wires are exposed. The dealer stated that they will replace the dashboard for $600 because it is not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 63,000. * updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07.
Dash pad began separating from dashboard at base of windshield directly in front of instrument cluster when car was approximately 4 years old. Has progressively spread to currently include about 70% of width of dashboard and is raised approximately 3 inches in front of instrument cluster. Appears to be an issue of shrinkage/improper adhesion due to inferior materials and/or incorrect factory installation. Online search indicates that this problem afflicts a disproportionate number of 2000-2006 Lesabres. Concerned that if passenger side airbag were to deploy dash pad would not tear as intended but would instead be pulled from dashboard and would strike occupants. Firm molded edge could cause serious lacerations or potential fatalities. Many owners have requested repair, some under warranty, with no satisfaction from Buick.
The dash on Buick Lesabre model years 2000-2005 peels away starting at the windshield and sticks up and continues across . Concern when it gets to the right side the airbag might deploy. . Only solution is to replace dash. Have contacted Buick about this but they do not acknowledge a problem. Filed a formal complaint with NHTSA,was supposed to have received papers to fill out and return ,have not received them yet (4 weeks ago) spoke to Buick rep. 11-2-2010 and was told I would have to pay for repairs unless enough people filed a complaint to initiate a recall. Person sitting in passenger seat could be injured if the dash peeled away enough to accidentally deploy the dash started peeling up 16 months after purchase. (12-2-2002) 2003 Buick Lesabre custom. Has 38,000 miles on it.
The dash board buckled. Passenger window regulator broke drivers window regulator broke rear passenger window regulator broke rear drivers side window regulator broke passenger window regulator broke-again light button stuck on.
Dash peeling . Started at the center and has spread about 50% across. Airbag light has flashed several times. Have contacted Buick several times about this. No results. Bought car 12-11-02. Started peeling in July 6 or August 6, 2003.
I bought 2002 Buick Lesabre brand new and after approximately I year the dash began to buckle almost the entire length of the windshield. It is now approx 3 to 4 inches high. I went to car gurus. Com and realized hundreds of people were having the same problem. I did not realize that this problem could impair air bag deployment. I believe this warrants a recall.
