Ignition Switch Problems of Buick Lesabre

On two occasions so far in 2018, my Buick engine would start itself. Once when I closed the glove box and another time when I closed the passenger door. Both times the ignition key was absent and the car was stationary. My guess is ignition switch. Thor nielsen - mechanical engineer & college auto instructor.

Car has twice shutoff during driving. Last time in middle of turn, son ran off road because steering wheel was locked. It is not included in any gm recall for the ignition switch, but symptoms are identical. Dealer has no idea how to repair except to 'try' things. Problem is, if guess is wrong and problem persists, serious accident could happen.

Letter from senator rubio on behalf of constituent re 2005 Buick Lesabre defects (attn: david huff). The consumer stated the ignition switch broke, and when he exited the vehicle the instrument panel stated the key was still in the ignition. Also, the air bag was protruding out of the dashboard. The consumer was informed the recalls did not apply to his vehicle.

The contact owns a 1995 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in the manufacturers recall due to the year of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 48,000.

The ignition switch has malfunctioned. As a result the vehicle is unable to start. The cause has yet to be determined. Please provide additional information.

Consumer put the key in the ignition and turned it to start up, and vehicle exploded into flames. Manufacturer was contacted, and said they had no responsiblity in the case. Consumer had bumper to bumper warranty with aproximately 22. 200 miles on vehicle warranty.

While traveling 35mph vehicle stalls for no reason under variable conditions. This incident had occurred several times, and has resulted in accidents.
