1 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2010 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 10/02/2020

Fuse box problem with design. The seat latch design together shorts out the fuel pump relay. This gets hot, shorts out and damages the fuel pump and can cause possible fire. This is a costly deadly design flaw and should be recalled. Lucky we fixed it in time. I have babies that sit in my back seat and it's scary to think that it could catch on fire with them sitting there.

2 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2010 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 06/10/2020

Initial incident happened while driving on a street. Door locks power cycled lock/unlock and then the car would cut off. No warning, no time to move to out of traffic or turn on hazzard. I use this vehicle to commute to and from work/childcare etc. I also travel of the freeway alot. That was the previous incident. The most recent incident occurred when the car would not turn over and upon doing research we found that it may be related to. Relay issue due to the fuze box being underneath the rear seat. Gm claims that because a bracket used to fasten the seat in place interferes with the fuze box and presses down on the fuze pump relay and causes it to burn out. After switching out the relays with the suggested lower profile relay, the car drove for a few hours and then when we parked we couldn't remove the key from the ignition. Upon lifting the back seat to disconnect the battery we smelled and heard the fuel pump relay burning and sizzling. Since the car was "serviced" by a Buick dealer in June I'm assuming that it wasn't actually serviced the relay was just replaced and maybe a few other tweaks here and there but the issue was not resolved. I am very concerned about the reliability of this car. I have children that ride in the back seat. I am fearful that the car will catch fire or spark.

My battery is located under the back seat and caught flames yesterday with my small children in the back. I dont understand why u would put a battery under a passenger seat where people sit on top of with fabric.

6 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2011 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 08/29/2017

The Buick Lucerne 2011 we own had the battery explode upon turning the key. I am wife/caregiver to 100% disabled veteran and his service dog. Normally I would have put them both in the car before turning the key but luckily on this day I did not or we all would have been killed. The car was in the driveway when this happened. We immediately had car towed to mechanic after the acid and smoke in car had cleared. It was deemed that battery exploded as it is under the rear seat and we could not see it until the seat was out. A new battery was put in but the residual acid burning and melting seat had me take it back for further repair. The insurance company finally conceded to replace the 2nd battery and put new foam in back seat as the 1st new one was already corroding after 2 weeks. It was told to me that the insurance company was going to total the car as it is a life threatening fire hazard but they changed their mind and had us pay about $1000 out of pocket for new alternator as they claim it was the cause of the explosion. We were told it would happen again or cause a fire as the entire wiring under the seats from the alternator is defective. It is terrifying to be in this (our only vechicle for transport to va hospital treatments) car daily. We wait another explosion or fire any minute. The dealership refused to examine the car for safety as they must be equally afraid or unable to assure it is safe. Please advise others of this life threatening fire hazard before someone gets killed. I pray it wont be us, or cause an accident to harm others. We still owe $$ on this car as we bought it used 2 years ago and the dealer will not assist in helping us get enough to pay the loan but gladly took many thousands over value from us. Please make this public to save lives.

7 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 02/16/2013

The rear door locks on the 2006 Buick Lucerne have a fundamental design flaw. If the rear seat passenger pulls the door handle to open the door while the door is locked, and holds it in place when the power lock mechanism attempts to unlock the door, the mechanism binds internally making the door impossible to open. This has occurred 5 times on our Lucerne over the past 4 years. The only way to open the door is remove the inner door panel. Reach into the lock through the access holes and free up the mechanism. Until the door is repaired the backseat passenger sitting next to the frozen door cannot get out. I can't believe that the engineering team at gm has not discovered a fix for this condition. This is very disappointing and dangerous.
