Buick Rainier owners have reported 14 problems related to exterior lighting (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Buick Rainier based on all problems reported for the Rainier.
Low beams on lighting goes out for no apparent reason. This has happened two times in the last two weeks. Dealership says they just can't find anything wrong. Although they had another vehicle there with same problem. This seems to be a recurring problem with gm SUV's. My 1994 GMC did the same thing and I heard reports of other GMC's doing the same thing. Not good on interstates at night.

First recall was on the window swith in driver door . Second recall was on the lights and as of now they still do not have the parts to fix it. Before I got the recall notice we went and had it fixed and we had to pay for that. They dont seem to be to concerened about our saftey or it woul already be fixed . Now only back passenger dorr can be opened from the outside all the other doors messed up at the same time and they want 500. 00 to fix two doors really.
We own a 2005 Buick Rainier and the headlites and dash board lites cut off on there own just like the 2006 vehicles are doing and theres a recall on the 06 thru 09 Rainiers g. M. Needs to expand its recall to include 05 models. I filed a complant with g. M. My complaint case number is 71-1402430544 I would like you to look into this because its a very dangerous problem and someone could be hurt or killed .
This is my second complaint rising from the same issue, I own two 2004 Buick Rainier's and they both have had an issue with the low beam headlamp bulb and connector being melted due to poor connection. This is a costly repair since the gm parts catalog does not list a replacement connector, they would rather sell the entire headlamp assembly. The first complaint occurred on my other Rainier now this one. No headlamp is a safety concern, and due to the wiring overheating and melting could be a potential fire hazard.
I own two 2004 Buick Rainier's and have had this issue with both, also have talked to many friends that had the same issue. The issue is that the headlamp bulb connectors are melting where they plug into the bulb, causing intermittent or no function at all of the headlamp. When trying to find a new connector for the bulb I was told I would have to buy the entire headlamp housing assembly, which is quite expensive. I know there are more cases out there with this as an issue, as gm uses these type of connectors on the Chevrolet trailblazer, GMC envoy, Oldsmobile bravada, and the Buick Rainier. I think this issue should be addressed because it is a very common problem caused by defective materials.
My speedometer does not work correctly. Some times it seems to read right, but lots of times it will say I am doing 120 when I am doing 30 mph or it will show I am doing 0 when I am actually doing 70 mph on the interstate. I cannot rely on my speedometer to be accurate. I can be driving, it appears to be working but then it starts to slowly go down until it is back at zero and all the while I am in drive and moving. Also, my oil gage has stopped working. It moves when I start my car and shut it off, but it is never correct either. It is either at zero or on the complete opposite side. Sometimes my car stalls when I am sitting at a light or driving slowly. My dash will say, oil pressure low, stop engine and die on me. I keep my oil changed regularly and keep the levels checked. It does not leak, it always measures fine when I check it. So something is wrong with the oil gage and it is continuously telling my computer the oil pressure is low causing my car to die on me while driving or in traffic. These are both very serious driving hazards. I could go to pull out left and turn, my car could die on me, and I could get hit from oncoming traffic. This has not happened, but it is a possible scenario due to my car stalling out of the blue because of the oil gage/sensor not working right. I have also noticed some of my lights in my dash area half work and on my doors. Other than this, I have had great luck with my vehicle. I bought it new and really have not had any problems but with this. I also had the fuel gage go out, but there was a recall on it, and I had it replaced. I cannot give you a specific date, because this happens almost on a daily basis, so I will give you an approximate date as to when I think it started around.
I have a 2004 Buick Rainier. Spedometer is saying 120mph when only going 25. It would adjust itself for a day but then it was all over the place and now staying at 120 more often. This started at the end of may. For a few years now the hatch window lock is a problem. Can't open it because I have an issue with getting it locked again without slamming it. Have also had condensation in my head and rear lights since I've gotten it. Why they have yet to recall about the spedometer is crazy. This is a safety issue especially when children or the elderly are involved! the cost to fix the cluster alone is 455. 80$ (cheapest). This should not be my responsibility when most, if not all, of the Rainiers are all malfuctioning in the same way.
