2000 Buick Regal. Consumer writes in regards to a defective ignition switch malfunction and requests reimbursement for replacement costs. The consumer stated his wife was driving, when the engine suddenly stopped. All of the instrument lights were flashing. His wife managed to make it home. His wife stopped driving the vehicle, so the consumer drove the vehicle, and a month later, the engine died at a stop sign. A few miles later, the engine stopped again, as he was turning off the highway. The steering and braking required considerable strength. As he drove 4 miles home, the vehicle stopped 2 more times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a diagnosis revealed a defective ignition switch. Also, the oil pan gasket was replaced, due to an oil leak.

Tl- the contact owns a 1999 Buick Regal. The contact noticed oil leaking from the front and rear end of the vehicle while it was parked. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the oil pan, valve cover gasket was replaced with an oil change done but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received a notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v701000(engine and engine cooling) however, the remedy for the recall was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. Jo.

2000 Buick Regal. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle valve cover gasket recall notice repairs. The consumer stated he/she paid to have the valve cover gaskets replaced twice. The first time was on December 13,2011 and the second time was March 25, 2013 prior to receiving the recall notice dated December 2015.
