1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2014 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 02/04/2019

Off and on over the past 6 months, there was a loss of brakes directly after startup. After 30 seconds or so, the brakes would function normally. This car is normally garage kept. Walking to the car at night to leave, I noticed oil on the garage floor coming from under the car. After opening the hood, I noticed oil in the engine compartment coming from the top of the engine. After removing the plastic engine cover, I saw that the oil was coming from what I learned is the vaccum pump. There was a visible break in the pump housing. I went to my local dealership to inquire about getting this serviced under warranty. They started that this part is only covered under the bumper to bumper warranty and not powertrain warranty, even though the vacuum pump is directly mounted to and connected to the intake camshaft. My bumper to bumper warranty had expired 3 1/2 months or 219 miles prior, yet the car is still under the powertrain warranty. The dealership was unwilling to help and quoted me $104 for a new ac delco vacuum pump. I was able to order a new ac delco vacuum pump from rock auto for $43. After receiving the new pump, a mechanic friend was helping me to replace the pump. When the old one was removed, it was shown to have disintegrated. The inside of the part was in many pieces. The part that engages the camshaft was also broke into pieces and at this point I believe that several of those are now inside the engine. At this point I am going to take the old part to the dealership, along with photos of the engine and demand that this is now fixed under the powertrain warranty, as the powertrain is directly affected. Had this happened while driving, the loss of brakes could have been catastrophic.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2015 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 10/10/2018

On 10/10/2018 at 6:45 am, 63 degrees fahrenheit, certified/current lpt warranty/15' Regal prem 2/ 60,600 od 2. 0l/turbo/automatic trans, conditions-speed-10 mph-steering straight, brake at 100%, engine performance issues manifested during the end portion of the trip while in drive, at idle, dropping off friend at his workplace parking lot. Trip characteristics-total trip 35 min at 20 total miles-first part of the trip at 45 mph for 15 min/the middle part of the trip at 70 mph for 12 min/end portion of the trip at 15-25 mph for 6 min/idle at 2 min-engine performance-sudden onset of high, rough idle or engine hesitation? characteristics seemed to include inconsistent engine performance sound and feel felt through the pedals, the driver's seat and steering wheel, brake pedal depressed at 100%, immediately after moving the automatic transmission knob from park to drive, engine temp within normal parameters, gas level 35 miles till e. In drive, accelerator at 15-20%, drove 35 mph for 5 miles to a shell gas pump, shifted to park, brake depressed at 100%, depressed on/off engine button, engaged the electronic parking system, max fueled vehicle with high-grade unleaded fuel. Vehicle sat, unstarted, for 15 min after fueling. Drove to the autozone across the street, 1 mile/20 mp, experienced a mil coming on solid in the ip while parking the vehicle. Obtained mil printout read: "cylinder 4 misfire detected"/"ase certified master technicians have seen this issue on your type of vehicle and the most likely solution perform engine DE-carbon procedure"/code p0304. At present: on start-solid mil, rough, high idle at 1500 rpms, after 1-2 min-mil,tcs solid, rough idle at 1000 rpms. Drivability at all speeds affected but less so at higher speeds, *significant lurch at 15-35 mph feels like hard shift/intermittent. I changed oil/air filters, driven 2 miles since parking at residence.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2000 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 03/30/2016

The contact owns a 2000 Buick Regal. The contact's vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer and manufacturer refused to supply the plastic covering once the recall repair was completed. The contact was concerned that the structural integrity of the other parts may be compromised and that a failure could occur because the part was exposed without the covering. The manufacturer did not have a permanent remedy to replace the plastic covering part. The contact stated that the remedy was insufficient. The contact had not experienced a failure.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 02/29/2016

I have owned my Regal since 2011. As I accelerate the car would shudder and shake, then I would get a service stabilli trac message followed by a message stating that the engine power has been reduced. After I have the issue it will reset itself after restarting and then will run fine for a while. I called on star on several occasions and they told me that it has an engine misfire or the stability trac needs to be serviced or the electronic throttle body is malfunctioning. I have taken the car to the dealer and they tried to fix without any luck. I think part of the trouble with fixing it is the fact that the computer resets itself and therefore they can't find a code. The other issue with trying to fix is the fact that the car only has the issue when it is 35-40 degrees outside and below. Other issues I have had, driver's seat heater not working, outside trunk release not working, passenger side seat belt does not connect properly and of course the recalls for the driver's seat bolt and exterior turn signals. Now for the bad news for myself is that the car is out of warranty. Given the fact that I have read many similar complaints and most of them not being resolved, I find it very hard to bring myself to take it to the dealer and have them guess to what the fix may be at my expense.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2001 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 03/04/2008

My wife went out to start the vehicle after it had been sitting for 2-3 days in 0-20 degree temperatures. Upon turning the ignition switch she heard a loud explosion sound, saw the hood bulge, and saw smoke billow out from the sides. She immediately removed key, exited the vehicle, and asked me to come out to the vehicle. Upon opening the hood we found pieces of the heat shield, and plastic intake manifold scattered through the engine compartment, along with the oil fill cap, which had been blown off.
