Timing chain loosened due to tensioner breaking due to the bolt holding it in place widening the hole it was in over time causing the car to jump time and possibly bending all the valves in the motor. Car was being driven on the highway when it stalled and shut off. We had just made a turn so luckily we were not going fast when this happened. No warning lights came on. No codes came up on the computer either when checked.
Timing belt tensioner broke which cause timing chain replacement at 125k.
Timing chain tensioner failed at just less than 75,000 miles. I've been told by 2 different mechanics that it would be easier to replace the entire engine than get the pieces out of the engine.
Piston ring failure causing massive oil consumption timing chain tensioner failure.
We are big fans of our Buicks, as of now we've owned three and have had no problems. But now with only 87,000 miles on it the timing chain guide tensioner has to be replaced. It was diagnosed in an emissions test. We've looked on line for a recall and all we see are so many others with the same issue and no help. This is extremely frustrating to us as Buick owners . I'm asking that you recall this issue and keep us Buick owners. It's a very costly issue to replace and for less than 90,000 miles on our Regal that's not normal. I am asking you to contribute/reimburse us for at the very least a portion of the cost. With a baby on the way we had no choice but to take it in for the repairs. We'd love to continue with purchasing Buicks in the future but if this will not be looked into we will have to rethink gm products. Please help all your loyal customers. Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated. .
Vehichle purchased in October 2017 with 35k miles. Has always had a vibrating noise while sitting and idling. It will get worse after the car is driven/heated and then idled. Brakes have always had a very loud screaching noise. Tail lights stopped working. Bulbs were changed and they have worked since. However, the headlights stopped working. Bulbs were changed with no satisfaction. Fuses were changed and blew every time. Took vehicle to mechanic shop - diagnosed. Brakes are ok. Per his words, just cheap setup. (this was how I purchased the car, I've never replaced the brakes since purchasing), the tensioner pulley was causing the vibration. Pulley and belt (stretched) were changed, headlamp assembly's (both) needed to be changed as they were not getting power ($1600. 00 each!!! the ballasts were bad), also had my high pressure line for a/c changed as that quit working as well.

Vehicle running rough and stalling; 2nd replacement of timing chain, fuel pump tensioner/belt.
I experience intermittent noise from the right/passenger side of the engine compartment. I drove vehicle to suburban Buick GMC and was unable to duplicate noise and no action was taken. On while in el paso, TX the noise return and would not stop. Drove vehicle to shamaley Buick GMC on June 28, 2012 and the belt tensioner was replace (invoice 25754milage 35416). Again, the intermittent noise return and again I took vehicle to suburban Buick GMC and service center was unable to duplicate noise. Advise service of previous repair and since problem could not be duplicated in service area, no action was taken. While in las vegas, nv took vehicle to fairway Chevrolet Buick GMC on June 17, 2013 for another concern. While in service area service advisor duplicated the noise while moving vehicle. Service advisor know what causes the noise, the repair was preform in addition to the other concern. Replace belt tensioner and serpentine belt (tag 0059 mileage 71195) the original part fails and was replace then the second part fails. This part should not fail in 35,000 miles. This is something that should be investigated.
