1 Dash Wiring problem of the 2003 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 04/07/2006

I have had ongoing electrical problems with my vehicle for about a year now. It keeps blowing the number 40 fuse which causes the vehicle to lose its turn signals, break lights, and emergency flashers. The dealer has attempted to fix the problem 3 times since June of 2005. The fourth time this happened a wiring harness under the dashboard caught fire while my wife and a friend of hers were traveling 350 miles from home. It was at night, in the rain, and on I-77 in the mountains of west virginia. A local gm dealer looked at the vehicle. They stated a serious fire could have resulted from this, particularly since a 30 amp fuse was place in the #40 position which is made to take a 15 amp fuse. I have also replaced both front wheel bearings on this vehicle one with under 36,000 miles and the other with less than 50,000 miles. The vehicle has been very hard on front tires. I am guessing due to the defective bearings.

2 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 12/30/2005

Dash instruments and remote access clicker failed. We had no speedometer or any other engine indicators and could only gain access with key in door lock. After one week delay waiting for a new cluster it was replaced. Two weeks later, same problem and dealer again replaced the instrument cluster. Upon picking car up from the dealer it was driven home and parked in front of garage. Next day same problem again but, when door was unlocked with the key, smoke was observed inside. As soon as 911 call was made, car burst into flames and blew out windows, and sunroof 10 feet into the air. By the time the fire department arrived (located only 1/4 mile away) car was fully engulfed in flames and subsequently totally destroyed. If it had not burned, we'd have returned it to the dealer for the third instrument cluster.

6 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 11/26/2003

The headlights on my 2002 Buick, Rendezvous kept going out for no apparent reason. I took the car to the shop (vanatta Buick in vestal NY) and they said it could be the body control module. They scanned the data output and found several codes that indicated a malfunction of this unit. I had them replace the unit. They covered the cost of the unit and I payed the labor. . The problem has not occured sense the unit was replaced. It is my opinion that this malfunciton is a very serious problem. In my situation the several times that the lights went out, ii was not in a dangerous place (ie on a super highway going 65 mph) if I had been in that situation, the second or two the headlights and dash lights were out could have had fatal consequences-- such as a deer crossing the road or worse yet, a person on the side of the road.

7 Dash Wiring problem of the 2004 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 10/07/2003

Instrument panel reading of the numbers is not clear for consumer to see, especially when he puts his glasses on. Driver took vehicle to the dealer, and the mechanic did not have an answer at this time. The problem is that the gray on gray panel was in a six inch recess dash which shades pencil thin numbers and slashes between numbers e. G. , 55/60. The most serious problem was the clarity of the speedometer readings going north, south, east, or west. (could not be read at a glance).
