2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 05/18/2023

I bought my car from a used car lot. I had it about 3-4 months and out of the blue it overheated very quickly, the warning light was on, some type of loud buzzer was going off so I pulled over and let it cool off, it took about 45 minutes but it started back up. I checked all the fluids and coolant levels and everything was ok. This continued to happen for about 3 weeks, quickly overheat, lights, alarms pulled over, checked fluids over and over. After about 3 weeks it would quickly overheat and then shut off on its own and several times it happened so fast I barely got off the road. I took it to a mechanic that drove it around a little until it overheated which at this point only took about 3 minutes to happen. He said there was air in my radiator and he released it and it was fixed, I drove about 3 miles and it overheated again so I returned to the same mechanic and after about 6 minutes he came and told me it was a head gasket but they didn't repair those there so I called the next closest mechanic who looked at the car for about 3 minutes, stuck an air hose in the radiator and he said it was blowing out gas fumes from the radiator meaning I had a cracked head. I had to tow it 200 miles to my house, my wife drove it back and forth to work which was only 1 miles from home, she was able to do that for about a month and then the engine would start stalling at different times such as slowing to turn, pulling in to park, and some times it would stall while driving in busy 4 lane roads. Well, a little over a month went by with all these things happening all the time and finally one day she came home from work and started to pull in the parking spot and it shut off again, we had to push it into the spot but once it shut off that day it has never started since.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 09/18/2018

The abs wheel speed sensor wire harness has a failure issue. This leads to the abs system activating without a warning light turning on and can increase the stopping distance when not necessary. The transmission may seem to clunk when accelerating from a stop as the computer doesn't read the correct speed sent from the hub assembly to the computer. Previously, I had a hub assembly replaced and the problems still existed. After replacing the wires the problems have not resurfaced.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

One day I was on my way to drop of the kids at daycare when the care suddenly turns off, I was going at least 60 mph;I was on the highway. Thank god nothing happened , I was able to pull over safely I waited for a while then maybe 15 min later it turns back on. I started to notice that the car started smelling, like gas, I took it to the mechanic, several times but they never could figure out what it was. After that incident it went down hill it started to heat up on me, wasted more gas, would turn off on me a lot and air/heat stopped working. I replaced the transmission because it started to slip, thinking that it will fix the problem and boy was I wrong. It was still doing the same, the smell was getting worse, I took it back to my mechanic. He told me that the head gasket needed to be replaced, I didn't have more money. He did't let me drive home, he was very worried because the smell of gas was so bad, he said that I should risk my kids and myself, the care can catch on fire. He had the truck towed to my house didn't charge me for it and I haven't moved it since then. . Ive put so much money in that truck, I kept up with the maintenance like clock work. I was just lucky that we never crashed we got close and we didn't blow up. I don't know weather I should take it in to a gm dealer to have them evaluate the truck to see if it is part of the recall.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

I purchased this vehicle used in December 2014, the very first night driving it home, the engine would nit start. I immediately called the dealer, took the car back and watched as they ran a diagnostic. Nothing was wrong with it. I did some research and it seems to be a normal issue with the make and model. Then I noticed the faulty gas guage, reading low fuel then all of a sudden I have gas. Again, contacted the dealer, took it back and yet again, diagnostic ran with clear readings. I looked up thaylt issue and of course, complaints about the same issue were common. Finally, on April 9th I was on my way home and was involved in an accident. It was a front impact accident which totaled the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The windshield was completely shattered, glass flew everywhere. After the front impact, the vehicle rolled over then landed on on the passengers side. How is it safe to have multiple complaints about serious issues and nothing be done about it by the manufactures! I almost lost my life due to the airbags failing which is a, yet again, a common complaint!.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

Intermittent loss of power, loss of abs brakes and loss of awd. When you apply pressure to the gas pedal (accelerator) if you depress the pedal for what feels like over a 1/2 inch you lose power and the rpms go sky high and you can hear it trying to rev up. To get going you have to release the gas and press lightly. I loss power, esp. Going uphill since it needs more to go, but you can't give it more gas else it won't go. I and my fiancã© were almost hit in an intersection because of this loss of power. You can gain speed, but very slowly and anytime you depress the gas pedal further it again fails. Replaced three wheel bearings, all brakes, two calipers and the throttle position sensor. Nothing shows on the readout except for the front bearings aren't reading right, but they're brand new and have been re-checked for defect. Still that hasn't fixed the issue. Upon problem has actually been occurring for almost two months now.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 03/12/2014

Update: prior issues were due to bcm failure which that was my assumption based on numerous owner reviews. This part is a major safety issue if fails and Buick is aware and won't recall. These should last for the life of the vehicle. Occasionally one will go bad but shouldn't. The fact that many Rendezvous models face this issue of failure prematurely shows that it is a defective product! many have almost dies due to this failure. Car shutting off and lights going out while driving down highways/ expressways.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 01/09/2014

Pulling out of parking lot of a medical center off of rt. # 486 in lecanto, florida. . . Onto a side street. Car totally died. I could not move it. I could not steer. I could not start the car back up. I had to call for towing. Repair facility said it was the ignition switch. The same thing happened a few months earlier in lecanto, florida in a carwash. . . Could not move forward or backward. Called for a tow. The repair facility said it was a link assembly. I am very afraid this car will stop in the middle of a busy road and have a vehicle crash into the back of me. I can not find it on a recall list, but I see gm has recalled vehicles for faulty ignition switches which have caused fatalities. Ml.

I was traveling down the interstate doing the speed limit of 70mph. Out of nowhere, the car flashed "reduced engine power" light and would not accelerate. Then the "service engine soon" light came on and a red battery light also. The car lost all power and power steering. I had to force the car into the emergency lane on the interstate without wrecking. I turned the ignition off and let the car sit for a couple of minutes and it started back up. I made it about 10 miles down the road and it did it again. Car will not run more than 10-15 mins without shutting off. Will not drive this car!!! very dangerous for everybody!.

Failure Date: 09/16/2009

The car stopped automatically at a stop light on a major hwy. I thought quickly and put it in neutral thank you jesus it started. I could have been rear ended. That is a major problem it does it periodically. I never know when its going to do it. . . I have replaced the wheel hub assembly on the rear 5 times and 2 on the front. . My gas gauge goes crazy or doesnt work at all. My speedometer has quit working and the other gauges work when they feel like it. It seems. I have had people check the vehicle out no one seems to know exactly what is wrong they say the cluster is out because of the gauges I dont have 900. 00 to fix it. 30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 04/23/2009

Bought used in 2004 with 45k miles. In 2006 I had to have the window control replaced. In 2009 at 70k miles I had to have main gasket on engine replaced (was told Buick knew of problem but refused recall) and 2 heads replaced as kept losing coolant & overheating. The very next year the body control module went out & had to be replaced. The abs light has been on for years & no body, not even the dealer who replaced the control module, can get it to go out. Last year the fuel gauge quit working. This year the left front hub has gone bad at 170k so I can't say it wasn't due, but the overheating gauge keeps going into the red & the overheat light comes. Had it check and the thermostat is working fine, I am not losing coolant and the coolant is good, & there is no water in my oil. I can't drive more than 2 miles without the overheating light coming on & the gauge going into the red.

If we travel to different stores or appointments that require, estimating here, more than 2 hrs driving then we are stuck in that location. We've had it towed to a trust auto shop (grismer tire) and a Buick dealership and neither can find a problem with it when it stops on us. We've checked the recall list for Rendezvous for anything pertaining to this problem and the 2004 model does the exact same thing as our vehicle, but there is a recall for that year but not the 2002. It also state that this happens while driving and we thank the lord that we haven't experienced that. We spoke with someone from gm and they say to take back to the dealership when this occurs and have the dealership contact them, but with the economy being the way that it is we would have to save money to afford the price of them putting it on the machine to try and diagnose the problem. We are also frighten to drive the vehicle more than a few miles now due to reading that if could also cut off at anytime. We are also aware that there many owners of this vehicle that experiencing the same problem with no resolution or help from gm. Updated 05//05/10.
