1 Axle Shaft Seal problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2007

2006 Cadillac Cts. Four separate incidents in less than two years where the rear differential, pinion seal has leaked at highway speeds causing smoke, noise and rendered the car un-drivable. Four separate tows, four separate strandings. Two of the strandings were in the middle of the night. Blogs and discussions I have read indicate this problem is wide spread. Some report the rear axle locking up and causing a situation that could have been life threatening. The car has been to four separate Cadillac dealer repair facilities and each time they just bubble-gum repair (replace the defective seal) and send me on my way hoping that my warranty will expire before the same old problem happens again. I no longer have confidence in the car. I rent when I must travel out of town. This car is going to get me killed and likely some other innocent people when the rear end locks-up on the freeway at 75 mph. The incident date noted below is only the most recent. The car was towed 40 miles to fisher Chevrolet Cadillac in yuma, arizona and remains there as of this date.

2 Axle Shaft Seal problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Cts. While traveling in reverse at an unknown speed, the gears jammed and locked the drive wheel. The vehicle crashed into the curb and punctured the tire. The dealer stated that the differential seal was leaking fluid. The failures were repaired under warranty on November 12, 2007. One week later, the contact had to have the same failure repaired again for free. She received a recall notice for failures she experienced and took the vehicle back to the dealer. She inquired about being reimbursed for the charge of $329. 46 for the tire and alignment. The dealer repaired the failed seals of the differential. The recall number was unknown. The failure mileage was 6,855 and current mileage was 7,900. Updated 4/2/08 the consumer stated right front tire replaced due to the tire being flat. Updated 04/02/08.
