Hatchback/liftgate Problems of Cadillac CTS

The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Cts. While driving and attempting to park the vehicle, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to apply extreme pressure to the brake pedal in order to stop. The contact also stated that the liftgate struck the contact in the head several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that the rear liftgate became inoperable and closed independently without warning. The contact sustained a head injury that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v415000 (structure). The failure mileage was 80,000.

I used the remote to open the power liftgate. I leaned into the back of the wagon to retrieve something, and the liftgate crashed down onto my back. It lifted back up, and then crashed down again. I was able to get out of the way, and the process was repeated until I manually slammed the liftgate closed. I opened it again with the remote, and the same process occurred. I changed the setting of the liftgate to manual and lifted it myself, and again it crashed down. It bruised my back and shoulder, but could have done grievous harm to someone else. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Cts. While the vehicle was parked the rear lift gate closed on its own when the contact was standing underneath it. The contact stated that she was pushed onto the ground and lost consciousness. The contacted regained consciousness and went to the hospital where they informed her that she had suffered a concussion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the gas struts where replaced. The technicians stated that there was gasoline pressure escaping from the struts and that it caused the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was unavailable approximate failure mileage was 9,000.
