Trunk Lid Problems of Cadillac CTS

The trunk lid on the Cts has malfunctioned and willnot stay up. It came down ans hit me across the shoulders when trying to unload items in the trunk. This had happened on several occasions, many times I have or other people have actually been stuck in the head forcefully by this heavy lid.

Tl the contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Cts. While attempting to close the trunk manually, it rapidly closed down. The contact was concerned for their safety and stated that it could cause injuries. Due to the distance and the contact's handicap, the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,500.

The contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. The contact was struck in the head in both July and October of 2007 by the trunk lid coming down. She was struck on the head and back and was sore, but did not need to see a doctor. She scheduled an appointment for the vehicle to be inspected. The contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. On numerous occasions, the trunk would slam down on its own. The trunk slammed down on the contact's head and back on several occasions. She also stated that the trunk was difficult to lift. The dealer informed her that the failure was common among that year, make, and model vehicle. The dealer stated that they would replace the component, but the contact had to pay the labor fees. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 41,990 and failure mileage was 38,000. Updated 3/4/08 the consumer was told the lift supports were defective. Updated.

Trunk lid is extremely heavy. My wife has trouble just opening it.

: the contact stated while opening the trunk lid, the hinges that hold the trunk lid open failed. As a result, the trunk lid would not stay open. The dealership was contacted and new hinges were ordered.

This incident was the first of 5 times that the trunk lid, when completely opened, blew shut on my head. My boyfriend has been hit 2 times. When it's open all the way, it's at an approximate 90 degree angle and the least amount of wind will cause it to blow shut. The trunk lid itself is extremely heavy and I'm fairly strong. I actually have scar tissue on my head from being hit. I didn't seek medical attention but there were a couple of times that I was almost knocked out. I love my car and would get another Cadillac Cts in a heartbeat if it wasn't for this problem.
