1 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem of the 2002 Cadillac Deville

Failure Date: 12/25/2006

- the contact is a state trooper who called to make the complaint. The contact stated that an occupant was driving a 2002 Cadillac Deville at 61 mph and vehicle went off the road and hit a concrete culvert. After it struck the concrete culvert the vehicle rolled onto its roof. When the first impact occurred the seat belt worked properly. However, seat belt assembly came to pieces, and the occupant became loose ,bouncing inside the vehicle , dying at the scene of the accident. The right front seat passenger died in the crash. A recall had been performed on the seat belts prior. Updated 02/22/07.

Failure Date: 06/13/2002

Front right seat belt latch will stay engaged in the buckle assembly. The dealership has yet to determine cause of failure.

Failure Date: 05/06/2002

Driver seatbelt buckle would not release, consumer had to crawl out from underneath to get out of vehicle. Not taken to dealer yet.

4 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem of the 1997 Cadillac Deville

Failure Date: 06/01/2001

Seat belt on driver's side did not make clicking sound to assure consumer that seatbelt was locked. Clicking of other seatbelts in vehicle could be heard to assure that they were locked. Dealer stated that locks didn't have a problem. But, consumer wanted a statement in writing that there was no problem. Consumer wrote manufacturer, and would like to have a response in writing stating that seatbelt was still safe to use although it didn't make the clicking sound. Consumer states that dealer stated it was okay if the click was not heard, dealer would not give any documentation backing up there response.
