Seat Belt Problems of Cadillac Deville

Well I notice that some time the key works and some time it dont. The seat belt get stuck some time and I just foynd out the car had recalls.

The contact owns a cosco Mini-house (na) safety seat, model number: ic210ckb, model type: disney light and comfy (na). The seat was manufactured on April 20, 2015. The safety seat was being utilized in a 1999 Cadillac Deville. The contact stated that the handles of the child seat fractured. In addition, the seat belt straps were loose and weak. The child was in the safety seat at the time of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The purchase date was unknown.

My seat belt on the driver side will not latch. The tongue will not insert into the buckle. I reported the problem to gm/ Cadillac and was told to visit the local dealer. The representative of the dealer in zanesville, ohio told me the seat belt buckle was no longer available. Since I never use the middle back seat and it has the identical buckle, my suggestion was to remove the seat belt for the middle back seat and use the buckle for my driver's seat. I was told for legal reason they could not do this. So it is ok for me the driver not to have a seat belt when the part is not available through gm but is available in my middle back seat which is never used. I noticed the 91 Cadillac Deville had a recall for a similar problem.

My seat belts did not activate when we suffered a rear end collision we purchased new ones, and then was told they only activate when brake pedal is depressed at speeds of over 25 mph. This info. Is not in any manual neither Cadillac or Ford(which I also have).

The consumer noticed the seat belt on the driver's side failed to latch into buckle. The consumer has made contact with the local dealership. Seat belt will only latch intermittently. Dealer replaced seat belt.

The consumer received recall 02v227000 for safety belt in 01/03. Since the notice was received the vehicle has been to the dealer 4 times but still hasn't obtained a remedy. Twice the dealer advised the consumer that the parts were not available and two other times the dealer indicated they were too busy. The consumer had to drive the vehicle out of town although the vehicle was not repaired.

I put my son's car seat in the back of my mother in-laws 1998 Cadillac Deville (VIN gm 1g6kd54y2wu703890) and both of the middle seat belts in the back seats pulled out completely! I removed the seat to find out that the nuts that hold the seat belts on were never installed. The nuts laid under the seat, obviously never even put on the bolts! the only thing holding the seat belts on the bolts was the metal rod ("w" shape) in the back seat (part your back leans up against) overlapped the bolt and the steel plates the seat belts are attached to. I am an associate professor for the univeristy of north dakota and I teach product safety & liability. I have contacted Cadillac's customer service line. I have been told that a lot of the times the number of complaints usually yields a further looking into the problem. I know how industry works! the bean counters immediately determine if it will cost more to fix the problem or pay the claims! I want to see to it that the problem is investigated to determine if this is an isolated inccident or a major mistake in manufacturing the product. How can I be guarenteed that I will find out how this mistake occured? how can I be guaranteed that Cadillac will take evasive action to determine if this problem is out there and I am the first person to report this problem. I want to see to it that no one is injured when this problem has been discovered! I am thoroughly disgusted at what I found and the potential for child death is high should someone be in an accident with a child in the back seat buckled into the middle or side of the car. Seat belt on the driver side gets tighter, the longer the usage. Driver has to take seat belt off after a period of time wearing it. Dealer says there is nothing that can be done.

Recall #00v347000/ manfacturer's recall 00095. Contacted dealer about parts. Dealer stated they did not have parts, and did not say when they will get them. Please provide any additional information and add VIN.
