Tire Problems of Cadillac Deville

The contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Deville equipped with michelin primacy mxv4 tires, size: 235/60/r16 (na). While driving 50 mph, the tires vibrated. It was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new front axle. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The tires were replaced. The tires were replacement tires. Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Deville equipped with lanvigator comfort 1 tires, size 225/60/r16. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the police pulled him over and informed him that the driver rear tire had just exploded and there was piece of rubber on the road. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanics and the tire was replaced. Once the contact reached home he contacted the tire dealers who informed him that he drove the vehicle without air. Tire has severe tread separation in multiple locations around tire. The largest separation includes approximately 30% of the tread on one side of tire. Tread separated on dot serial side of tire. The tire failure occurred on my mother's 2001 Cadillac Deville. Not sure of date tread separation commenced but I discovered the tread separation in December 2010. The vehicle belonged to my father when the tire was installed in 2007. He became ill in 2008 before eventually dying in 2009. So very few miles were put on the car/tire by December 2010. The tire had approximately 14000 miles on it in December 2010.

The aluminum wheels corroded on the inner seal of the tire rim. This was discovered by a tire dealer when the vehicle was taken to a tire service dealer for a loss of air of those tires. These were factory directed wheels that came on vehicle at purchase and had 42,000 miles on the tires. They were corrosive. They were grounded down and placed a black adhesive to seal the tires by the tire dealer. Contacted the dealer and general motors, who noted this was out of warranty and did not want to replace the wheels. No corrections or repairs other than the service the tire service dealer performed.

Nar 05/28/2003 the consumer experienced problems with vibrations and pulling, the tires were balanced and service brakes were replaced. Dealer notified.

Tire pressure sensor readout display reversed for left side. Lf tire pressure showed as lr and vice versa (confirmed next day with gauge). Sensor reported 40 lbs in lr (we had added no air, but car had been released from service that morning). Caused me to release air from wrong tire and then add air to wrong tire. Erroneous readout first appeared at 2:30am with no gas station available with readable tire gauge. Serious hazard for blow-out/early tire failure.

The tires on the car began to lose air pressure in a short period of time - about every two weeks several of the tires would lose over 15 lbs pressure. I would refill the tires to the proper pressure - than in the month of March 01 I was driving ona smooth road when the car began to feel mushy - I stipped at a filling station and discovered the rear tire was nearly flat. I decided to purchase new tires and went to a tire shop and as they dismounted the tire which was nearly flat the problem was discovered - severe corrosion of the inner rim between the chrom and the steel - the surface was so rough that the tire shop refused to install new tires on the wheels and stated that they were too coroded to be cleaned. I went to my Cadillac dlr to have the warranty performed to replace the coroded rims - I left the car for the service. Te same day the service department called stating the car was ready and that four new rims were installed on the car with the original tires. I picked the car up after hours and noticed that the wheels were not new but perhaps were used but in good condition. I reviewed my invoice for the warranty work and found that the wheels were not replaced but merely cleaned and reinstalled on my car. The corrosion will continue and at some point will deflate my tires - this time perhaps at a higher speed. Ut some lost air faster than others. While driving on a smooth road I noticed.

Right rear goodyear conquest tire, serial number m6xoedwr447, exploded disintegrating the right rear splash guard, estimated damage $195. 00 plus $125. 00 for the replacement tire. Tires were not origianal equipment and plenty of treadware remaining. Per the goodyear mechanic, the following took place within 10 miles and less than 20 minutes: I picked up a nail, threw the nail which allowed the air to escape, when the tire pressure became too low the tire came off the rim and exploded. I pulled over to the shoulder of the road due to the extremely loud noise that occurred when the tire exploded. Despite what the goodyear dealer or goodyear customer service said in their reponse to my e-mail, I believe there is something wrong with this tire and should not have had to pay full price for the replacement. On left front wheel there is a hair line crack where tire meets the rim, all the way to axle. Dealer has inspected vehicle.
