Crankshaft Position Sensor Problems of Cadillac Seville

The contact owns a 1996 Cadillac Seville. The contact stated the vehicle would intermittently stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer stated the crank shaft sensors, sparks plugs and idle air control valve needed to be replaced the vehicle was not repaired. . The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the crank shaft position sensors,wiring, sparks plugs and idle air control valve. However the failure persisted. The contact stated NHTSA campaign number: 14v047000 (air bags , electrical system) is the same failure he experienced. However, the recall did not include the contact's year make or model. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 80,000. . . Updated 05-09-14.

1. No warning before failure. Engine crank sensors fail without warning. 2. Engine stops, car decelerates, no ps, hard to control, near accident from lack of control or being hit from behind. 3. Cadillac northstar 2000-2001 Seville crank sensor (2 per engine) replaced repeatedly.

When pulling up to a stop sign or light the engine shut down. Did not have brakes or power steering. It did this anytime when driving below 35 mph. Vehicle was taken to GMC dealer 6 times. They have changed egr valve, installed a recorder for 20 days, cleaned piston washers, they flushed fuel injection system, and changed crank shaft sensors . But problem recurred. The problem started on August 20, 2003.
