My son almost died on October 25, 2013 in his 1999 Cadillac Seville in our driveway while he was relaxing in it with his dog. He had fallen asleep waiting for his mother/my wife and the engine caught fire. He needed to climb out of window and pull his dog through the window. He injured himself and went to hospital. The fire was so intense that the engine fell apart from heat, the cabin was destroyed, front tires are gone/melted while trunk and gas tank were relatively fine. The police and fire departments responded to this disaster in our driveway. My son also lost various personal possessions and his transportation to work. It has been several months since my son's near death experience and the only thing gm says is that the fire damaged the car and there is nothing it can do. It also has informed me that if I wish to take any other action, I must retain the vehicle, which is a burned-out shell of a vehicle in our front driveway. It is a reminder every day that my son almost died in what I thought was a high quality car and gm does not care about its customers. I was hoping that gm would resolve this matter in a reasonable manner so my son could move forward with his life. He lost several personal affects, his prescription eye glasses, school supplies and money he had withdrawn to give to my wife for a school bill. I also have been unable to use our bonneville for 5 months because the Cadillac is blocking access to it. Is there anything you can do that will resolve this matter in a fair manner? we need immediate assistance from gm. Thank you.

Fuel/ign starting problems ________________________________________ I have a 2001 Cadillac Seville sls that has been having intermittent starting problems. Presently the vehicle will not build-up fuel pressure in order to start to 41-47 psi unless I remove the rear fuse/relay box ign 1 micro relay. With this relay removed, I can hear the fuel pump build-up the required psi and then I confirm the build-up of that psi by looking at my test fuel psi gauge under the hood, the car then starts no problem, and runs no problem with relay not installed. Whenever I re-install this micro relay the fuel sys will not build-up the required psi, it just stays at 0 psi, and of course it will not start. I just replaced the fuel pump sending unit assy plus fuel filter today. The other day I was driving on highway 25 southbound and doing 75 mph and the engine just died, quit running and would not re-start. I had my vehicle towed home, the next day I went to troubleshoot my Cadillac and the vehicle started right up with the ign 1 relay removed. As I mentioned earlier I already replaced the fuel pump assy thinking it would fix problem and it did not! today while driving 55 mph the engine suddenly quit running again and I heard a noise from the front end and the car shook also. I had to find some shoulder room, pulled over, removed ign1 relay again and the car re-started no problem and I continued on driving to work.
The contact owns a 1997 Cadillac Seville. The electronic control module failed. The contact purchased a new ecm and had it installed, but less than a year later, the failure recurred. The dealer would not provide any recall information. The total cost of the repairs was $1,200. The VIN, engine size, number of cylinders, and failure mileage were unknown. The current mileage was 198,000.
The consumer's vehicle traction control system keeps showing a defect when the light comes on. The consumer took vehicle to dealer 4 times, and they couldn't find anything. According to owner's manual it has to do with the brake system. . . . The traction control light continues to come on, and dealer was unable to repair or determine the cause. This creates a potential hazard to consumer and others if the light signals a problem. This problem have been going on since October 17, 2004 to the present.
Vehicle experienced condensation on the front and rear lights. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, they changed the bulbs. However, the reason for the condensation build up was not resolved. Two inches of water accumulated in the rear lights shorting out the electrical system. Front bulbs go out when it rains or when the vehicle sits out of the garage.

I bought a used 1997 Cadillac sls in 1999 which was still under warranty. The car has had electrical and mechanical problems off and on. I have religiously had my car serviced at the recommended schedule. I was told and led to believe that the engine was virtually maintenance free up to 100,000 miles. My car has 82,000 miles and now they tell me that I need a new head gasket at nice cost of $2800. 00. I'm tired of being charged for "some little problem" every time I bring it in!.
The consumer contacted the dealership about setting up an appointment for a recall. The dealer has informed the consumer that the parts are on bck order. Recall 99v070 ooo.
Consumer believes vehicle qualifies for lemon law. Has been repaired 29 times electrical shorts on inside. Also, cruise cable broke 3 times. Tires could not be balanced until rotors were replaced. And , passenger seat track replaced and driver seat. Heater went out. All interior lights failed at night while traveling. Windshield wipers failed. Heater fan was making noise. Transmission malfunctioned.
Problems with vehicle's engine and dashboard lights. The dealership never did correct the dashboard light problem. The engine would die with out warning and at times while the consumer was making a turn. The consumer took the vehicle took another dealership, who fixed all the problems, however the engine continued to stall, the dealer was unable to diagnosis the engine stalling because there was a problem with the coding, which meant the computer did not recognize the problem.
