general problems of the 2010 Cadillac SRX - part 1

Head light assembly - the dim lights are life threating. This is a know defect, and should have been part of a recall. A class action lawsuit was filed. Gm loss, and replaced the head light assembly for the minimum amount of time ending in 2019. My car has 89,000 the dim lights have probably never been good. This should have been a total recall, instead, gm quit paying for headlight replacement in 2019. If you call gm/Cadillac 800-333-4223 they will tell you they quit because that was part of the settlement. Every head light assembly should have been replace, a total recall.

I recently notice that I had very little light on the low beam of my headlights. Cannot see the road unless on high beam. Dealership said it is a problem that they have had with the Srx and have replaced so many 'headlight assembly's' that they now carry them in stock. Since you can't drive with the high beams on in traffic I feel this is a failure of the model and can only be fixed by replacement. . . Quote of $1750. 00.

I had a headlight go out so I purchased new bulbs had both of them installed, low beams … and I still can’t see in the dark even after having my outside lamps detailed and cleaned. I have to drive with my high beams on in the dark. This needs to be a recall , something is not right with the lights on this vehicle. So now I just try not to drive at night which is hard with the time.

The headlights are very dim and I cannot drive this vehicle at night due to safety. This problem comes back after replacement of headlight assembly.

Headlights fill with moisture and condensation causing headlights to not function properly and creates a safety issue when driving at night. Condensation also results in premature headlight bulb failure. This problem is well documented by customers of these vehicles however no repairs of this manufactured defect have been provided by the manufacturer.

Condensation in headlights.

Headlights suddenly went out while driving. Only the fog lights worked. Very dangerous! I am appalled that Cadillac hasn’t recalled these vehicles and even more appalled that there is thousands of complaints regarding this same issue! complaints recorded and sent to Cadillac and yet no recall? why? I cannot drive my vehicle at night now. Replacing the headlights is a temporary fix because as soon as it rains or snows condensation gets into the headlights and they go out again. I want to know when Cadillac is going to standby their product and take responsibility? god forbid, there is a loss of life due to this gross negligence.

Headlights have excessive water and moisture internally causing extremely poor night visibility to the point you can't see the road without turning on your brights which is also extremely dangerous with oncoming traffic. So dangerous try not to drive at night.

Headlights leak moisture into housings and degrade headlight visibility at night to the point you can’t see the road!.

The seal used in the headlight housing is of cheap quality. It rained yesterday and both the headlights of my car were filled with moisture. The car has never been in an accident not there are any dents or broken parts around the headlight housing that will cause this issue. The headlights stopped working and it became hazardous driving condition. This has been a common problem in this year and generation of Srx but my vehicle didn’t have any recalls but yet I’m facing this problem.

When driving at night with my headlights on regular low beam, I can't see a damn thing! it is beyond dangerous to drive with low beams on. Unfortunately it has resulted in me driving with my brights on causing oncoming motorists to deal with being vision impaired, making it another dangerous situation! this is completely ridiculous that Cadillac will not recall these headlamps. I am not able to afford the replacements and was totally unaware of this issue when I purchased this SUV last April. What a shame! I love the car, just hate that I can't see driving at night.

2010 Cadillac Srx:vehicle idle rough and killing I get a engine shut off message and codes p0017 pops up I take to dealership and I am told it's my timing chain that needs to be replace vehicle is still in great condition I got an oil change the day before incident purchased the vehicle 4 years ago . I did research and found that I am not the only person that's having this problem a recall needs to be done on timing chain. It will cost me 2800 to fix vehicle is still like new besides timing chain.

While I was driving at a speed of 50 mph the reduced engine power signal came on and it started to lose power and powered down to 18mph and would not go any faster causing me to almost get rear ended, I had took in to repair shop right away, they put it on the scanner and told me that I it was a throttle body issue so I got that fixed the next day the check engine light came on again so I took it back and then they said the timing chain needed to be fixed and then they said to look and see if it was a recalled issue because with only 102,000 miles I had researched and I see a lot of complaints about the same issue with my SUV and no recalls, the shop said its a big jobs and its going to cost over 3,000 dollars and the car is only worth 4500 at the present time, also my stability control light stays on they I had already got that fixed on and the light went off but now it is back on the shop said it is due to the poor design on Cadillac's part from the small magnetic ring that is attached to the bearing, I have researched this also and I see a lot of complaints about this and again no recall, also when starting my SUV all my panels don't work and if I power down my windows it is very very slow to come back up I have to shut my car off and restart it for everything to work again , I had researched this and a lot of complaints but again no recall, also the front head light are constantly fogging up again bad design on Cadillac I researched this and again a lot of complaint as well, but no recalls it seem that the 2010 Cadillac Srx has a lot of defect and nothing is being done about it also this stuff is very dangers and safety issues that are not being addressed and somebody is going to end up dead or is that what Cadillac waits for before recalling, it could of been very bad for me if I did end up getting rear ended I was very lucky.

Water gets into the headlight assembly causing the lights to dim and create a safety hazard, caddilac knows of this problem but did not issue a recall only a reimbursement offer that has expired.

Head lites wont work went out, water gets into the lens with condensation there are class action suites in other states related to this problem cant drive the car at night with the normal lights on. 2010-2013 Cadillac Srx's are known for this problem does general motors plan on doing a recall.

Head lamp fog up with moister and head lights are dim . Very hard to see at night stationary and in motion.

Hid headlamps short out due to water intrusion in headlamp and location of ballast that allows water to intrude into ballast and short out. Cannot just replace ballast and projector hid as it will happen again. Costs over $1600 to replace whole hid headlamp assembly. Safety issue and extended warranty that I purchased does not cover. I now see on the internet that this has been an ongoing problem on this model and gm has not done a recall for water intrusion. Poor design as ballast is underneath lamp and service tech says there is no seal between hid and ballast so water instrusion in lamp gets to ballast. This lamp is a complicated shape and probably very hard to make a water sealed lamp.

Brakes are constantly locking up as I drive down the highway. The lights are defected. I've replaced the bulbs numerous times but you still can't see how to drive at night time. Also, something is wrong with the rear suspension.

Visibility at night is so poor that I don't feel comfortable driving this vehicle after dark. It is like the lights are working about 30%. I looked online and noticed there is a pattern with this make and model and the poor visibility/lighting at night. This is a horrible safety issue and a recall needs to be issued. Consumers expect Cadillac to be above the standard and we pay more for that. We should not have these kinds of issues and be expected to pay out of pocket to repair them. A recall should be issued to make these vehicles safe to drive at night.

Head lamp is wet inside the houseing and condensation is collecting.

The lites are to dim, at nite to see the road at a safe distance ahead. We are concerned about seeing people, animals, debris. Holes etc. We have bought the brightest bulbs that is acceptable to gm spics, we had them installed by a gm dealer, the results were a very minimal improvement . Gm dealer said the only other option is to buy a reto fit kit at a cost of $400. Bulbs $200. And then labor cost. To me if I am having these serious issues there r many others also this a danger to me, fellow drivers, animals, and people. Please investigate this matter. I believe there should be a recall. Please keep me posted on this investigation.

The first things to go were the headlights, rearview camera & the seatbelt wouldn't fully retract. Then all the dash warning lights flashed like a christmas tree; the radio, heat & ac settings changed on their own; & the navigation screen scrambled into pixels like a crashed computer screen! these issues went on sporadically for months. I was convinced the vehicle was possessed. It seemed things would act up when it rained, was damp or humid. After spending thousands, things got worse. My windows, sun roof & hatchback opened on their own & wouldn't close. I'd have to pull over, turn off the engine, wait a while & restart it like a reset, which was rarely successful the first time. I haven't opened my sunroof in over a year. I mentioned all of the above to the dealership mechanics during regular maintenance & repairs but they could never find the source of the problem, did what they could & said this model was notorious for having electrical issues. Then for weeks, I'd find my hatchback open every morning. I'd close it. Minutes later, it would open again & again & again. I stood there in disbelief. This became a neighborhood joke & was happening even more than I realized because my neighbors had been closing it whenever they saw it open. They thought the vehicle was possessed, as well. After the hatchback, they replaced the module. Shortly after that, I found a puddle on the driver's side floor. I didn't notice it right away because of the winter weather. I removed the floor mats to clean them & saw the puddle. Whatever they did must have rerouted the water & while sitting in the vehicle during a storm, I found one, which I filmed. The warning lights started again, but I don't want to spend thousands more on this vehicle. According to carvana, it's only worth ~$2000. I've read that the sunroof leak is prevalent in the 2010 Srx & other models. Is there anything you can do?.

Faulty headlamp that I keep having to replace something on it because it keeps going out and ac will not get cold on level 1,2, or 3. It's giving faulty codes.

Moisture, condensation, dim, clouded and improperly illuminate the road on left driver side. The passenger side was replaced before we took ownership. The passenger side has been replace with aftermarket assembly after it was damaged.

Lost both low beam headlamps while driving home 12/22/2017. Had to turn on fog lamps to see. This was after dealer had my vehicle 3 times to1)replace right low beam bulb; 2) ballast; 3) igniter and ballast. Over $700 spent to date and evident now with both low beams out more work needed to repair.

The low beams lights some times they both work and some times just one works and sometimes neither lowbeam light works at all can drive at night I have replaced the bulbs and the still do not work and I have checked the fuses in my driveway.

I bought this Cadillac Srx 2010 a few weeks ago I was driving and suddenly the lights stopped working and a warning ⚠️ showed up on the screen. They have a lot of moisture inside. I don't know what I should do now.

The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. While depressing the liftgate button, it independently closed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the exterior lights failed to illuminate. The dealer stated that it was a manufacturer defect and they could not assist. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. The VIN was not available.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that moisture was present inside the driver side head lamp assembly causing the head light to shut off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer mark christopher Chevrolet(1231 convention center way, ontario CA) who diagnosed that the head lamp assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 22,000. Jft.

Low beam head lights are extremely dim can't see nothing past the hood of car, have tried replacing head lamps twice with no improvement, night driving can only be done with hi beam causing me to blind other drivers. I keep getting service air bag warning whenever a passenger is in the passenger side of the car took it to a dealership but they was unable to find the problem .

Condensation both headlamps.

The low beams on this vehicle causes very poor visibility has already caused an accident that resulted in an expense of my insurance deductible to have the vehicle repaired. This is a very serious matter that needs to be addressed before it causes a fatal accident if it hasn't already.

(1) driver side headlamp failure. Dealership indicates ballast failure, and the entire assembly has to be replaced. The cost of this is a minimum of $1,200. (2) as of April 27, 2016 - car won't start (10 days): indication is "no remote detected" (remote battery was replaced); vehicle's battery was replaced December 2015.

Headlamp condensation causing lamp to go out sometimes will come back on. Should not be happening. Never had another vehicle have this issue. Should be a recall to fix this expensive condensation and lamp. Police enjoy stopping vehicles with no light! this has beenoccuring over last 6 months more off than on. Rain really makes worse. Condensation never completely goes away and inside indicstor light stayson all the time 24/7. #2 another issue is sun roof will not shut. Window will close but cover stops half way and will not advance any further. Had taken to baker Cadillac in charleston, SC for service March 1 2016. Worked on it for 2 days and told not fixable. Why is it not fixable? recalls should be issued on these problems Srx owners are having on these luxaury vehicles.

The passenger headlamp assembly had to be replaced in April, 2014 because moisture shorted it out. This cost $1450 out of pocket, repaired by the dealer with new gm parts. Now less than 2 years later, the same passenger headlamp is out due to the same reason. I have read about many similar complaints on headlamps for this model. Not safe when headlamps suddenly go out.
