Timing belt loose, causing cylinders 1,3 and 5 to misfire. Car had been jerking, what felt like slipping for a few months. I thought it needed a tune up.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Srx. . The contact stated that the vehicle's engine light came on. The timing belt was stretching and the vehicle could possibly stop. The dealer gerry lane Cadillac 10945 reiger rd, baton rouge, la 70809 (225) 341-3066 stated that they were unaware of the issue and offered a 15% discount for repairs that cost over $1800. The manufacturer stated that as long as it was not a safety issue they were not going to recall the vehicle and offered no further help with the costs for the repairs. The failure mileage was 100,300. Tf.
The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise associated with the engine assembly. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the belt and timing chain could fracture and cause catastrophic engine failure. The dealer had not diagnosed the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
Having just received a full clean bill of health from a ase certified mechanic at plaza tire auto service 1 day before, and having had 1200 dollars of safety and maintenance replacements by the aforementioned business the same day, a very serious engineering design flaw has been found. Without heretofore any warning or symptoms whatsoever, the power steering pump seized (pump had been checked by mechanic and was full and in working order, as were all other equipment requiring fluids). This caused the idler pulley to self destroy the mounting by which it is attached to the northstar engine block. This mounting point, rather than consisting of a wholly separate mounting or timing cover, is in fact part of the cast aluminum engine block itself. This renders the part impossible to fix, and requires the entire engine to be replaced by me!!! this is not only unacceptable of a gm product with only 131000 miles on it, it is obscene from an engineering and design standpoint. Immediately lost all steering capabilities.

Ac compressor froze when I turned the ac on. This in turn snapped my serpentine belt and my car broke down. Replaced serpentine belt ($150) and ac compressor ($500) was replaced along with condenser ($200).
The timing chain/belt in 2006 Cadillac Srx is defective. It could be the crank shaft rubbing on the timing chain. I called gm there is a recall for 2007 - 2010 the response I received was how long do I expect gm to own my vehicle. I have spoke to several car dealers who tell me this is a proplem with this year and model and fixing it will not stop it from happening again. The estimate from the dealer is $3500. 00 I am very upset over this.

I am the owner of a Cadillac Srx 2005. This had approx 59,000 miles at time of engine failure. Prior to the failure on two occasions the engine warning light came on at which time I took it to the dealership. They ran diagnostic and nothing wrong. On sept. '08 the engine failed while driving and it was towed to the dealership and they determined that the timing belt failed. This is a 3 year old vehicle with less than 60k miles and the timing belt fails. This to me is very rare and I believe it to be a factory defect. I have had many vehicles with alot more miles and not one of them had a timing belt failure.

Our 2005 Cadillac Srx suffered a timing belt defect at 62,000 miles - just outside the factory warranty. I was told by a technician and assistant svc. Manager that they have had 4-8 of these "defects" in the past year and a bulletin has been released by gm with instructions on how to fix it. They kept our car for over 30 days trying to fix it, and it turns out that it requires a "redesigned" timing chain that is nothing like the current chain that is breaking. However, they refuse to acknowledge that it is a defect and should be subject to recall, and they are charging the car's owners full price to fix what should be replaced free of charge. It is a serious safety hazard and they only half-heartedly acknowledge that it's even an issue - yet they readily admit that the new design "fixes" problems that they say don't exist.
