I bought the Srx used in September and since then I have had one issue after another. If I accelerate too quickly my transmission, (I think), has a very loud ratcheting/popping sound. My service suspension system error msg comes on every time I start my vehicle. I have read that this could be related to the air compressor not working or faulty sensors. My service stability system error msg also comes on every time I start my vehicle. This seems to cause the traction control feature to mess up, which then on occasion when I press my brakes, even slightly, my brakes lock up and I skid for just a second. My power steering fluid seems to continually leak or the pump is bad. I have refilled my resovoir many times and I constantly have a very loud "whining" sound. My power steering system also seems to go out occasionally and my vehicle is very difficult to turn.

We started the car, and was backing up and there was a grinding in the steering wheel when turning it right and left. We took it to the dealer and the power steering fluid was leaking out of the power steering pump into the steering. They cleaned it all out, and added a thicker fluid on 3/ 25/2014, we started the car it happened again we took it directly to dealer and they agreed something wasn't right. They put in a new pump. We picked it up had it two days and it happened again. We took it back, and was told the dealer called gm and they couldn't do anything else because they didn't have the parts. We were told it wasn't dangerous, but I'm thinking if the power steering fail working while driving, we could crash.

Power steering fluid leaked out from steering rack. Independent mechanic replaced for $950 dollars. One year later rack replaced again under mechanics warranty. Power steering pump failed because in was run while low on fluid due to steering rack leak for $450 dollars should have been covered under warrenty.
I own a 2005 Cadillac Srx awd v8. There was a power steering leak that occurred approximately 9/2010 (date could be off, but gm has the official dates/milage). This was serviced by the dealer and they replaced the power steering return line stating that this is a regular occurrence in this style Cadillac. I filed a complaint with gm at the time because I had to rent a car for 3 weeks as the part was out of stock and in production. Gm agreed to pay for my rental car. Approximately 4/2013 the same leak started under my power steering return line. I brought it to the dealer where I was again told that it is common for this part to default and that they would need to replace the entire power steering rack as well as the power steering return line again. They quoted me approximately $2000. I again filed a complaint with gm and they said though it is a common problem they were not willing to pay any cost for repair. I have a mutual friend who owns the same style Cadillac Srx as I do and the same problem just happened to him. He was advised by the dealer that he would need to replace the power steering rack and return line for a cost of approximately $2000. I believe there is a huge risk in allowing these vehicles to remain on the road if they have ps problems. My vehicle even after having the line fixed is again spewing power steering fluid all of my engine parts and drips onto my axle. If I am stopped with my car on, you can see smoke rising and there is a burning smell coming from the affected area. Please help!.

Power steering fluid leak on driveway. We knew what it was because our other Srx had been having the same problem. Took into GMC service 3 or 4 times to have seals replaced. Both of our 2006 Srx's have the same problem. We keep steering fluid in our house just in case we need it.
High pitched noise when car was started then whining noise. Took car to jeff schmitt Cadillac said power steering fluid was low. Said no leaks fluid found on driveway. Took car in to reichard GMC three times to have seals replaced because of leaking power steering fluid.
While driving consumer was turning in from an intersection and the power steering pump went out, and vehicle hit a parked car. Power steering failed twice prior to crash. Consumer found out there was a recall, but was not notified of the recall. The car was repaired since crash, but problem recurred. The insurance company and Cadillac said the problem was not the power steering pump. They offered me no investigative report.
