The vehicle involved is a 2007 Ford Expedition. While driving the traction control light will come on. . Causing the car to shutter and shake, while this is happening, it is like the brakes do not work. It has since had the traction control light on followed by a wrench and the check engine light came on now it will not go over 30 mph, it is sitting at the Ford dealer as we speak. car   Traction Control Light On problem of GMC Terrain

The vehicle was a 2010 GMC Terrain. I was driving the vehicle on the highway and all of a sudden it slowed down to about 20 mph without any warning. I looked down and saw the traction control light and check engine light on. In the middle of the dashboard it said engine speed reduced. I backed down an entrance ramp to get onto a local road. After 1 hour the car was restarted and seemed ok. Not long after it happened again. I took it to the GMC dealer, they drove it 47 miles and could not get it to act up. I got the car back, drove it 70 miles home and the next morning it happened again, 3 miles from my house. I had it towed to the dealer. The dealer then replaced the throttle body assembly for $540. It has been fine for 2 weeks. In 2010, GMC decided not to cover this part under the engine warranty (as it did in previous years) and now assigns it to the emission system which is not covered. I have seen this problem listed all over the internet on many vehicles. It is a dangerous situation when the car slows down like this on the highway. Please add my complaint to the long list of people who have this problem. Thank you. The failure date was Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Kia Motor Soul

The car involved is a 2010 Kia Motor Soul. The vehicle had a crash. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is KNDJT2A25A_. I am an owner of a 2010 kia Soul, purchased in July 2009. Immediately noticed with the slightest moisture on road, car could barely handle at low speeds and the traction light and low air pressure light consistently came on and off. Was told it was "not a problem" by dealer and would wear off. My car was involved in a low speed accident which side swept the right side of the car at a speed of appx 10 mph and drove the left front wheel into curb. Car had passenger side body damage and some heavy scuffing to three wheels which body shop repaired. In October of 2010, clipped curb traveling at appx 20 mph. Severe damage to both right side wheels, had to replace them as well as control arm which seemed to be ridiculous amount of damage for such a small incident however had repairs and alignment done, alignment couldn't be done to specs, suggested I take to dealer. Took car into dealer for allignment and to have sound in front right wheel well investigated. Dealer stated rear toe of car was "out" need to have a body shop look at it. Back to body shop which revealed entire rear axle needed to be replaced and that front wheel bearing blown. Had axle replaced took to dealership to have wheel bearing replaced and another allignment, rear of car would not align to specs. Both dealership and body shop states that either the original specs for car were wrong or perhaps either the original axle or the replacement axle from kia was built out of specs. My concern is that this is a lightly driven car in town only involved in two very minor accidents and there is this significant, expensive damage only to be told it may have never been right in the first place? I've seen many more complaints about the suspension and low profile tires on internet, thought it was worth reporting. I do not feel safe in this car. This problem occurred on Wednesday, July 15, 2009.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Kia Motor Soul

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Kia Motor Soul. The vehicle had a crash. VIN of the vehicle was KNDJT2A2XA_. The traction control light keeps coming on in my 2010 kia Soul and when I took it to the dealer for repairs they claim it is due to a fender bender that occured on the rear right bumper and refuse to repair it under warranty and they also said that there was a message on the computer about the brake sensor located under the brake peddle that would not be covered under warranty because someone stepped on the brake peddle to hard probably when it was rear ended at a low speed which caused the damage. Funny but I thought that was what the brake peddle was for if you wanted to stop in an emergency. This problem occurred on 02/12/2011.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Land Rover Discovery Ii

The car was a 2004 Land Rover Discovery Ii. Failure of abs system while driving. 3-4 times per week while city driving the abs/hill descent/traction control warning lights and chimes come on. The system typically resets after stopping and re-starting the vehicle (sometimes requires neutral start to reset). This is similar to a failure I had in a 1999 model that required over $3,000 in repairs to replace a failed abs pump. Land rover insists that there is no fault code left on the obc after these events, but all indications point to a systemic and on-going problem with the series of abs pumps used over the years. This seems to be an important safety system in the vehicle, but lr seems to have no interest in addressing it. It was Feb. 26, 2010 when this traction control light on issue happened.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Land Rover Discovery Ii

The vehicle was a 1999 Land Rover Discovery Ii. The VIN of this vehicle was SALTY124XX_. I recently bought a Land Rover discovery 2 (1999 model - 75,000 mi. ). My abs brake light, hill decent light, and traction control lights keep coming on intermittently. I have read hundreds of complaints on this issue online. Apparently the 3 items (abs, hill decent, and traction control) are all interconnected items - generally called three amigo problem online. The major concern is that the abs does not work and the brake pedal will sometimes go to the floor, brakes shutter and on occasion barely engage at all. I have almost wrecked the vehicle on a couple of occasions. I have no choice but to drive my car. I can't afford the $3500 the Land Rover dealer wants to fix this design flaw. I can't get rid of the vehicle because nobody wants to buy or trade for a car with all these warning lights on. Again, if you look online you will see that this is a Land Rover design flaw and that almost every one of theses vehicles is affected. Land rover claims it is from abuse or lack of maintaining this "wearable item. " if this was really the case, would thousands of people, with mileage ranging from new to hundreds of thousands of miles, have the same problem?. It was 04/06/2009 when this traction control light on issue occurred.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Lexus GS460

Crash was involved with this problem. I have a 2008 Lexus Gs460 which was having issues with not starting, on two occasions it needed to be jump started, on the second occasion after being jumped, I was advised to drive to the Lexus dealer to have it checked out again. As before, there were many "dummy" lights lit up on the dash board, one of which was the traction control light which I attributed to the battery being dead. As I was driving to the dealership, I accelerated slightly (about 30 mph) to pass a vehicle that had stopped to make a left hand turn and my Lexus started to fish tail across two lanes of traffic, thankfully I did not hit anyone but I did crash my car into a snow bank, causing damage to the car and a minor case of whiplash. The dealership told me that the traction control was not functioning due to the fact that the battery had died but even after being jump started still did not have enough power to run the traction control. They also told me the reason the battery kept dying was due to a lumbar support button that was draining the battery. So my issue with this is that I could have very well been seriously hurt or hurt someone else because unbeknownst to me my traction control was not working in December in wisconsin on roads with icy patches. This seems like a design flaw to me, I don't see any reason why a vehicle would be/should be driven with out the traction control working if the vehicle is equipped with it. It was Saturday, December 20, 1980 when this traction control light on issue occurred.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Lincoln LS

The vehicle involved is a 2003 Lincoln Ls. While driving suddenly the abs light, traction control light and the parking brake light came on. I immediately exited the freeway and pulled into a parking area and turned the car off. After calming my 87 year old mother down I restarted the car and none of the lights came on. I proceeded to start driving my car home and again all the lights came on. I contacted the dealer where I purchased my car and spoke to the service manager who informed me that they knew of this problem with the Lincolns and that I should bring it in which I did. I was informed that it would cost approx. $2,000. 00 to fix this problem because Lincoln only covers automobiles that are less than 10 years old or have less than 100k miles. My car has 109k but I feel that Lincoln should cover this since they have known about it long before my car had 100k miles and this is a very big safety hazard. I have taken excellent care of my car getting every oil change on time and each of the services that have been suggested. Lincoln has said they can't help me and the dealer says his hands are tied, what recourse do I have? also I have already had to have a new transmission put in my car. The failure date was Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Lincoln LS

The car is a 2003 Lincoln Ls. Abs light, parking brake and traction control light coming on and then going off; only to reappear again. At times, brakes are not properly working. Engine light will also sometimes appear to blink when this happens. I have called the Lincoln customer service and was told that all warranties ran out at 50,000 miles so this problem will not be covered. Also am having problems with the transmission. The car has 90k miles. The transmission was slipping under 50k miles but the dealership assured me that it was not a transmission problem and they reset something to do with the computer. It has only gotten worse. I did not insist that the transmission problem be fixed while under warranty because I was trusting that the dealership folks knew what they were talking about which is a lesson for me. It was January 1, 2008 when this traction control light on issue happened.

My Ford Mountaineer 2008 transmission is erratic and the traction control light comes on when the slipping is taking place. Braking is also erratic as I feel a bumping while braking to a stop. It is very dangerous as it feels like to transmission and brake/traction control system is about to go. I called Ford and they have know of the problem since 2006 as the transmission used (6r60) continually needs software updates. According to the dealer, most all of these vehicles with this transmission eventually have the problem but very rarely with the base warranty period, so now all of us have to pay but Ford has know of the problem even b/4 my vehicle was manufactured. . . . . . . . . What do I do, Ford is not recalling for this a shifting the risk of the accident and repair to the consumer. Please help and let me know what my next step might be. . . . Thank you. car   Traction Control Light On problem of Subaru Forester

The car involved was a 2008 Subaru Forester. I bought the car in may of 2008. On Feb. 29, the check engine light and the traction control light came on, as well as the cruise control light started flashing. I thought, why? I've only had it for almost 4 years and less than 50k miles. I checked my owner's manual, and the covered warranty is 5 yrs/ 50k miles, whichever comes first. I brought it to the dealership where I had bought the car from and an employee said that it is more than likely covered by warranty. On March 7th, 2012, I left my car at the dealership for diagnosis. They called me back, and informed me that it is not covered under warranty, because CA emission warranty is 3 yrs/50k miles whichever comes first. I told them that the owner's manual suggests that the warranty is 5 yrs/50k miles. The diagnosis codes were p2441 and that not only I spent $138 on diagnosis, the total cost to repair it is $1305. I declined the repair, because I, for one cannot afford it at this time, because I am on disability. I thought that they should honor Subaru's warranty. I checked various Subaru message boards, and I am not the only one with the same problem. A known Subaru specialist in our area also posted on a message board that they've gotten numerous calls about the same problem. They took pictures and sent it to Subaru. As of right now, we haven't heard anything from Subaru about any recalls. I think it should be recalled. Thank you for your time. This problem occurred on Feb. 29, 2012.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Toyota Sequoia

The car involved is a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The car had a crash. Vehicle had experienced intermittent stability/traction control trouble lights in cold weather. While driving in sub freezing weather on wet heavily salted nearly clear (possible slight slush from snow dusting) interstate along a straight smooth slight upgrade stretch, the vehicle without diver action (steering, braking, or acceleration) experienced a rear end swerve to the right and inability to control. Result was leaving the right side of the roadway down a 25-30 foot embankment (no guardrail) and a vehicle roll (one time, ending up wheels down, still running). Travel was at or below that of traffic. No other vehicles experienced difficulty on the same stretch of road. It is believed that a sudden random actuation of the stability/traction control system initiated the event. This appears to be a generic issue with the Toyota system spanning several models and years. This problem occurred on Tue., Dec. 17, 2013.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Toyota Prius

The car involved was a 2008 Toyota Prius. There was crash involved with this problem. When I brake and also go over a bump my 2008 Prius lurches forward. The traction control light illuminates. The brakes become ineffective. This caused me to have an accident last night. The cars before me came to a sudden stop. I was driving 15-20mph but unfortunately I hit the brakes while unknowningly simultaneously going over a bump. The faulty traction control system sent me into a 1-2 second lurch forward with zero brakes. When I finally was able to have brakes I had to maneuver the vehicle to the left of the car ahead scratching the aura and denting my front right panel. This is not the first time the brakes have failed but it is the first time I was involved in an accident because of it. Toyota drivers need to leave a 4 sec. Space between cars to make up for the 2 sec. Lapse in brakes. This issue happened on 11/18/2013.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle was a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta. VIN of the vehicle was 3VWRM71K08_. Front passenger abs wire came out of bracket and rubbed on the axle. Abs light and traction control light came on. . . Abs is inoperable. Dealership said it was caused by snow and ice. We live in illinois where there is snow and ice 6 months out of the year. Why is this kind of engineering allowed in snowy climates if it is unable to probably function. This is a safety hazard as the brake line is also fastened to this bracket. When checking online this seems to be a very recurring issue. We will be needing to get this fixed. . . . Car is under warranty but they say this does not fall under the warranty. The repair is $506. 00 for an entire wire harness. We have owned autos and vans since the inception of abs. We have never had a vehicle that has had this problem. This problem occurred on Monday, December 27, 2010.

After the light came on within a few miles the brakes automatically slammed on slowing the van considerably. It happened at least 4 more times before I was able to take it to the dealer for servicing. After several hours I was told it was probably the abs system had failed and they had to replace it. I have never heard of this problem before but wanted to bring it to your attention in case it might happened to someone else. It was February 12, 2010 when this traction control light on issue occurred.

car   Traction Control Light On problem of Cadillac CTS

The vehicle involved is a 2011 Cadillac Cts. While driving home from work, approximately 35 miles into a 40-mile trip, my traction control warning light turned on. The driver information center (dic) indicated "service traction control, engine power reduced. " the vehicle's power was then reduced, and I was unable to maintain my speed (approximately 52 mph), and my car slowed down due to a lack of power, and I was only able to achieve 40 mph. I pulled into a parking lot, turned the car off for about five minutes. I then restarted the car. The same warning light turned on and the dic showed the same information: "service traction control, engine power reduced. " while I was attempting to complete my trip home, the warning light cleared, and the power in the car returned to normal. On 12/22/12 in the morning, I brought my car to my local dealership for normal maintenance and to have the above problem investigated. Nothing came of the investigation. On 12/26/12, again on my way home from work, about 39 miles into a 40-mile trip, the traction control warning light turned on, and the dic displayed the same information as before: "service traction control, engine power reduced. " I immediately drove to the dealership. I ended up leaving the car there for two days and picked the car up on 12/28/12 evening. No problems were found. Later that evening, the same event occurred, this time about 52 miles into a 55-mile trip. This same event has occurred once more last evening (12/31/12), again on the way home from work. The message cleared once I parked the car and waited a least a few minutes to allow the computer to reset(?) the same event has occurred four times since 12/21/12, and my concern is that at some point the power might be reduced at a critical time during one of my trips. I searched you database, and unfortunately, there are no other reports of a similar nature. This issue happened on Fri., Dec. 21, 2012.
