I was driving and after approximately 30 miles my speedometer slowly decreased to 0 miles per hour. Now after about 30 miles per hour my speedometer quits. If there is one thing with a guaranteed lifetime warranty it should be the thing that tells me how fast im going.

I contacted chevy concerning my failed instrument panel and why it wasn't under a safety recall and I was told it was under a courtesy warranty recall up to 7 yrs or 80,000 miles, which I have succeeded when I could afford to get it fixed. Chevy said that it wasn't under a total recall because a speedometer not working is not a federal safety issue that is required for a recall. The dealership told me that it should have been under a recall because of so many that have had to be replaced. Please advise.
I was notified that there may be a problem with the gauges in the instrument panel just last week, therefore possibly making the speedometer off. Just this past week I looked down and was going 120 I have no idea how fast I'm going and even more interesting no recall. I look and see hundreds of complaints. Also, I just got the letter last week and it stated it would be covered if it were 77,000 or 7 years of service mine is 87,000. How convenient for you guys. How many complaints before a recall?.

Speedometer sticks at different speeds. Shows any where from 30 to 70 mph at a dead stop.
My speedometer on my 04 Chevrolet tahoe is erratic and sometimes it just sits at 0.
2004 Chevrolet truck speedometer not working 53,000 miles no recall even though service representative @ dealership said there have been a lot of problems.
Speedometer was erratic and would not indicate correct speed in traffic. Speedometer now reads 120 mph, even while parked. Unable to determine correct speed while driving. Have been advised repair is over $500. 00 to replace known defective part. Problem began at 62,000 miles.
2004 chevy tahoe speedometer suddenly reads 120 mph then settles to 60 mph when parked. Gradually corrects itself with stops and starts only to reoccur. Its dangerous not knowing the speed I'm actually traveling on the freeway. Dealers x 3 say $500+ to replace instrument panel with this obvious and very common factory defect. A recall is needed.
Chevy truck bad speedometer.
Instrument cluster on my Chevrolet 2004 z71 is not working properly. Oil gauge not working properly. Other gauges erratic.
The speedometer doesn't read the correct speed sometimes I can be sitting still and the speedometer will read 80 mph, sometimes doing 20 mph it will read 120 mph. It started at app. 30,000 miles it did it once and then didn't do it again until app. 41,000 miles. I have app. 56,000 miles and it never works right now. The dealer wants app $550. 00 to fix it. I feel its a safety hazard they should fix for free. When I called the chevy parts dept they knew immediately it was the instrument panel.
Fuel gauge moves from empty to full and back again while driving, and at times fails to work at all. After taking it to a dealer for repair, the mechanic told me to save my money that it would only go out agin, that this was a common problem with this model that gm has just ignorded. I have since spoken with other chevy owners who have the same problem.
