One problem related to engine shut off without warning has been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have a 2001 Chevrolet 2500hd 8. 1l with 120k miles. Truck runs great but my engine will just shut off. While driving at any speed the engine will shut off then kick on again all by itself. When stopped at a light it will shut off and will not come back on unless I turn the key to start it again. Engine is the only thing that dies, stereo, headlights, etc all remain on and I don't get any service lights or messages on the dash when it happens. Sometimes if it feels as if it is going to die on me I can step on the gas pedal to prevent it from dying.
